FATHERHOOD CALLING: The Father I Had and The Father I Am Becoming

2026 Father’s Day, D'Griot Child's Outreach is giving young dads the mic.

The idea is framed into:

1. THE FATHER I HAD
'A look back'.
No judgment,
just truth.

Like, What did each dad teach his son?
What did he leave undone?
What were the things experienced back then which are vital in fatherhood today?

2. THE FATHER I AM BECOMING
A look forward into today and tomorrow.

Growing from a boy into a younf adult and finally, a married man with responsibilities, based on lessons learned from home and society, what is the BEST perception of FATHERHOOD.

Then, years from today, what story will our children tell about Fatherhood?

So it’s a bridge. Honor where you came from, but you get to write the next chapter for your kids.

This isn’t just talk. It’s cultural work. It’s how we raise boys into responsible men, one honest story at a time.

By this, we are are bold to say that curbing LOST CHILDHOOD is a reality

The focus!

“Lost childhood” is the core of why fatherhood matters so much right now. It’s not just about absent fathers – it’s about boys who grow up without guidance, protection, play, and the kind of steady presence that lets them actually be children.

An interesting part of this project is that it is designed within a TWO-WAY HEALING LOOP, not just a one-way lecture.

As we build up this project, the focus is on:

ROOTS & WISDOM
The older fathers confess and teach – so they get to repair, not just reminisce. An opportunity to hear, “here’s what I got wrong and how you can do better.”

FATHERHOOD CALLING
An opportunity for younger fathers to admit “I didn’t have this” without shame, and publicly claim “I’m choosing this now.”

Within the African structure where the elder speaks, the youth answers, the community listens, this event isn’t just celebrating fatherhood. It’s actively REBUILDING FATHERHOOD ACROSS GENERATIONS in one room.

Unlike parenting (which has NO LAID DOWN THEORIES), FATHERHOOD over the years has proven to thrive via individual PRINCIPLES, THEORIES, TACTICS and POLICIES.

Anyone can PARENT
But not everyone can be a FATHER

In human sense, we say 'SINGLE PARENT(ING) but yet to hear SINGLE FATHER.

FATHERHOOD is an office:
A RESPONSIBILITY
A DEMAND
A TASK
A DUTY

As we look forward to marking the 2026 Father's Day, as one interested in tackling LOST CHILDHOOD, focus will be on FATHERS; the yesterday and today as we seek to appreciate and learn from experiences.

FATHERHOOD: THEN and NOW – A Father’s Day 2026 Special

“Fatherhood: Then and Now” is a 2-in-1 public discourse designed to bridge generations through honest conversation on fatherhood.

Part 1: LEGENDARY FATHERHOOD
Wisdom comes with AGE and what an old man sees sitting down, a young man may not see even when he stands on the highest hill

So, we are bringing Fathers aged up to 70 share hard-earned wisdom, lessons from mistakes, and what it means to show up for children over the long haul. Their stories aim to pass down practical guidance to younger men navigating fatherhood today.

Part 2: FATHERHOOD CALLING: The Father I Had and the Father I Am Becoming

Is designed with so much practical and emotional essence for Youthful fathers to reflect on the impact of their own fathers – what they’re keeping, what they’re changing, and how they’re shaping their identity as dads in 2026. This segment highlights the cycle of influence and the responsibility of becoming a better man for the next generation.

Together, the discourse explores how fatherhood connects past legacy with present responsibility, offering both reflection and direction for men raising boys in today’s world.

The Goal is to honour fathers, spark intergenerational dialogue, and strengthen the role of men in raising responsible children through shared stories and actionable insight.

June is for FATHERS and we are intentional in pushing out narratives to help in FATHERHOOD TODAY.
