FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE HOLDS NATIONAL STAKEHOLDERS’ SUMMIT ON FIRE SAFETY, INDUCTS OFFICERS INTO NIPR

Abuja, 14 August 2026 — The Federal Fire Service (FFS), in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and RightAngle PR (RPR), has convened a One-Day National Stakeholders’ Summit on Fire Safety alongside the induction of Federal Fire Service officers into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

The event, held on Friday, 14 August 2026, at the Exhibition Pavilion, opposite Radio House, Abuja, brought together key stakeholders and senior officers to strengthen collaboration, enhance professional communication, and advance collective efforts toward improved fire safety and national resilience.

The summit was organised around the themes: “Building a Resilient Fire Service for 21st Century National Development” and “Strategic Communication: A Catalyst for Fire Safety, Public Trust and National Resilience.”

The programme highlighted the increasing importance of strategic communication in contemporary fire and emergency management, particularly in strengthening public confidence, promoting fire prevention awareness, and ensuring the timely, accurate, and credible dissemination of information during emergencies.

A key highlight of the event was the formal induction of Federal Fire Service officers into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, marking a significant milestone in the Service’s ongoing efforts to enhance professionalism and institutional capacity in public relations and strategic communication.

The induction underscores the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to equipping its personnel with modern communication competencies required to effectively engage stakeholders, manage information during emergencies, counter misinformation, and strengthen public trust in the Service.

In their remarks, the leadership emphasised the need for stronger collaboration among emergency management institutions, government agencies, professional bodies, the media, private sector organisations, and the general public in building a safer and more resilient Nigeria.

The summit also provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge, strengthen professional networks, and explore practical strategies for fire prevention, public education, risk communication, and emergency preparedness.

The Federal Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to continuous professional development and effective stakeholder engagement as critical components of its mandate to safeguard lives and property from fire and related emergencies.

The Service expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), RightAngle PR (RPR), stakeholders, partners, and all participants for their support and contributions toward the success of the summit and the advancement of fire safety and strategic communication in Nigeria.
