The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker Committee to form a new national convention planning committee and to hold the next convention of the party in Abuja.
The previous stalemated national conventions of the party were held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and the planning committee was headed by the Governor Nyesom Wike.
At the end of its meeting held at the Musa Ya’Adua Centre, Abuja, on Monday, the BoT advised the Makarfi committee that to ensure a credible, transparent, free and fair National Convention, “a new National Convention Planning Committee be constituted by the National Caretaker Committee and approve by the National Executive Committee, NEC.”
A Communique signed by the Chairman of the BoT, Walid Jibrin, also said that “ the forthcoming National Convention of the PDP be held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)”.
The BoT said it would facilitate the raising of adequate funds for the party, while also calling on “all PDP governors to continue pursuing positive programmes of good governance so as to clearly project the people-oriented manifesto of the PDP”.
Before conflicting court orders frustrated the national convention of the PDP, factional chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff had given as condition for reconciliation the shifting of the convention from Port Harcourt to Abuja.
The BoT on Monday mandated its reconciliation committee to continue with “all good efforts of reconciling all aggrieved Party members.”
They also advised the National Caretaker Committee to, as soon as possible, convene the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to approve proposals on the way forward for party.
The BoT equally passed a vote of confidence on the Makarfi-led leadership and urged the committee to continue its “good work of repositioning the Party.”
Apart from Mr. Jibrin, who chaired the meeting, other members of the BoT in attendance included National Chairman, Ahmed Makarfi; former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu; former National Chairmen, Okwesilieze Nwodo and Vincent Ogbulafor, amongst others.

[7/7, 04:14] livefromoonipalace: PDP LOBBIES OONI FOR OMISORE'S RELEASE, SEEKS FORGIVENESS ON HIS BEHALF.

Chieftains of the People's Democratic Party PDP in the State of Osun have appealed to the Ooni of Ife His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi(Ojaja II) to come to the rescue one of them Senator Iyiola Omisore who is being investigated for his roles in the criminal diversion of funds meant for arms by the former National Security Adviser Colonel Sabo Dasuki.

This appeal was made on Wednesday by the State Chairman of the party Hon. Adesoji Adagunodo who led other leaders of the party on a courtesy visit to the highly revered monarch at his Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife.
The State party Chairman apologized on behalf of the detained Ife politician who has not visited the king since he was crowned seven months ago promising that as a true son of Ife and bonafide member of the Oduduwa House, Omisore will upon his release be brought to the palace to do the right thing.
"Your Imperial Majesty, we are here to pay our homage to you as the father of our race who must be respected by all true sons and daughters of Yoruba Race.
We also beg you in the name of Oduduwa to use your goodwill in assisting us to rescue one of our leaders Otunba Iyiola Omisore from the EFCC detention even though we are not unaware of his attitude towards this sacred palace as he has refused to pay homage since you were divinely crowned seven months ago.
We can assure you of his change of attitude as soon as he is released from detention". Adagunodo pleaded.

Responding, the Arole Oodua said he has no grudge whatsoever against Omisore who he described as a prominent Ife indigene entitled to his choice of relationship and assured the PDP chairman of his readiness to assist them within his limited capability and prayed that God will set him free if he has no skeleton in his cupboard over the matter.
"Omisore is a prominent Ife son, I don't have any grudge against him whatsoever over his refusal to visit my palace since I became the Ooni. You all must know that he is entitled to his right of choice on who and where to visit at anytime. Don't also forget he is undergoing a procedural investigation and laws of the land must be respected but I promise to assist you on this matter within my limited capability legally guided.
I heartily pray God should quickly set him free if he has no skeleton in his cupboard". Ooni said.

The state party leader was accompanied to the Ooni's palace by about 20 Chieftains to include Ife/Ijesa Senatorial leader Hon. Wale Ojo, Ife Central LG Chair, Hon. Adebowale Adedotun(Meree), Ife East LG Chair, Hon. Durojaye Isaac, Hon. Funso Babarinde, Engr. Marcus Adedini, Prince Olajide Olaosebikan, Prince Tobi Akomolede and others.

Nigeria To Shift Crude Oil Drilling From Troubled
Niger Delta To Lake Chad
Nigeria will soon start drilling crude oil in Lake Chad
Basin region in what is supposed to boost the
country’s output.
The resolution was reached after efforts to placate
militant groups in Niger Delta failed.
The exploitation of oil outside the traditional crude oil
stronghold is to plug the hole created by destruction
of oil and gas infrastructure by the militant groups.
Oil drilling in the Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa states
have largely been disrupted by insecurity in the
areas bringing down the daily production to one
million barrels from 2.2 million barrels.
The ministers of state for petroleum, Dr. Ibe
Kachikwu, on Friday confirmed oil drilling in the
Chad Basin saying it will start in the last quarter of
this year.
Chad Basin is located in the northeast where
activities of Boko Haram have been countered
significantly.
“The decision to diversify our business portfolio is
about all of us and about the future of our dear
country, the vision is clear, and we are determined
not to fail,” Dr Kachikwu said.
The oil field already mapped out and secured
covers 3,350 square kilometres.
The production from the well would help achieve the
daily target of 2.5 million barrels.
