It is unfortunate that under the guise of a pseudo name as David Halliday, someone who we believe operates within Government circles, but lack credibility to come up clean chose to feed the public with a fabricated story which he tries to present as truth.
In his mischievous posting, the said Mr. David Halliday stated that Mr. Larry Pepple made an omnibus memo demanding for about N2.339bn for payment of outstanding tuition fees and upkeep allowance of students on overseas scholarship.
The truth is that Mr. Larry Pepple has briefed His Excellency the Governor on outstanding payment for the overseas scholarship with details in six (6) different memos dated 15/02/2016, 24/02/2016, 25/02/2016, 26.10/2016, 28/10/2016 and 09/05/2017. Total amount involved in all six memos is One Billion, Five Hundred and Eighty Million, Eight Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, One Hundred Twenty Naira and Eighty Kobo (1,580,818,120.80).
Mr. David Halliday who parades himself as knowing how Mr. Pepple allegedly “vamoosed” after failing to meet up the Governor’s purported request for details of the outstanding payment is not privileged enough to know that His Excellency the Governor approved and directed the Honourable commissioner for Finance to pay the sum of One Billion, Thirteen Million, Two Hundred Thousand, Three Hundred and Sixty Three Naira, Eighty Kobo (1,013.200,363.80) as requested by Mr. Larry Pepple in two of the six memos dated 28/10/2016 and 09/05/2017 of which approvals were done on 05/01/2017 and 05/06/2017 respectively.
Mr. David Halliday should do better than malign the reputable character of Mr. Larry Pepple with obvious lies in public space.
