Yesterday, representing the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, at a State Banquet in honor of delegates to the 48th National Council on Establishments (NCE).

The Civil Service remains the true engine room of effective governance and national development, making this gathering particularly significant.

Rivers State was deeply honored to host the Council, especially as it marked what is expected to be the final Council meeting presided over by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, before the conclusion of her distinguished tenure.

I commend Mrs. Walson-Jack for her exceptional service. We are immensely proud of her as a daughter of the soil and an outstanding Nigerian woman. Her innovative vision, aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, leaves an enduring legacy for public service.

My sincere thanks to all delegates for choosing Rivers State, demonstrating once again that our state is peaceful, secure, hospitable, and ideal for major national events.

At the National Assembly Open Week 2026 in Abuja, I had the privilege of speaking on a theme that lies at the very heart of our national progress: ‘Three Years of the 10th Assembly: Advancing Transparency, Inclusion, and Reform.’

During my address, I called for bold, intentional constitutional reforms to significantly increase women’s representation in governance. A true democracy cannot thrive when a vast portion of our nation's human capital is left on the sidelines.

This is why I champion the landmark Special Seats Bill—a crucial reform designed to create 12 additional Senate seats, 37 seats in the House of Representatives, and 108 seats across State Houses of Assembly specifically for women, alongside dedicated representation for persons with disabilities.

I also lent my support to the proposed Electoral College Model, emphasizing that for this system to succeed, its implementation must be rigidly rooted in transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity for all.

Here in Rivers State, under the visionary leadership of Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, we are already leading by example. From the Office of the Deputy Governor to our representatives in the Senate and House of Representatives, and across our judiciary, including our Chief Judges, Justices of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and female Vice Chairpersons in all 23 LGAs, Rivers women are actively shaping policy and driving development.

Expanding women’s representation is not about granting special privileges. It is about harnessing Nigeria’s full capacity to build a more transparent, accountable, and responsive nation.

Let us work together to build a Nigeria where every voice truly counts.”

Today, I had the distinct honor of representing our Governor, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, at the official flag-off ceremony for the construction and installation of the 11.9MWp Solar Mini-Grid Project in Bolo Town, Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area.

Standing before the hopeful faces of the people of Bolo Town, I was profoundly reminded of the core purpose of public service. This milestone is about far more than installing solar panels; it is about ushering in a brighter, cleaner, and more reliable future for a community that richly deserves it.

To be executed under the REA-DARES MST-Interconnected Mini-Grids Project, this strategic investment is poised to transform lives. Reliable energy means local businesses can thrive, new employment opportunities will open up for our youth, and our healthcare centers and schools can operate at peak efficiency. Furthermore, by reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, we are taking a definitive step toward safeguarding our environment.

I extend my deepest appreciation to the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and all our development partners. It is through synergy like this, built on a shared vision and mutual respect, that we deliver truly impactful, people-centered projects across Rivers State.

To the wonderful people of Bolo Town and the entire Ogu/Bolo LGA: this project belongs to you. I encourage you to take full ownership of it, protect the facilities, and cooperate with the contractors to ensure its successful completion and long-term sustainability.

Our administration remains fiercely committed to a simple, unyielding promise: no community will be left behind on our journey toward sustainable development, inclusive growth, and shared prosperity.

Together, we are powering Rivers State forward!

At the conclusion of the three-day Third Annual National Assembly/Border and Boundary Community Stakeholders' Interface in Abuja, I was honoured to have participated while leading the Rivers State Boundary Committee, which I chair.

The interface brought together members of the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration, heads of State Boundary Committees and Commissions, Permanent Secretaries, traditional rulers, security agencies, and other key stakeholders from border and boundary states across Nigeria. Under the theme, "Inclusive Border Governance: Empowering Communities for Security and Economic Growth," participants explored practical strategies for strengthening border governance, improving security, and enhancing the socio-economic well-being of border communities.

It was a timely and impactful engagement, especially as unresolved boundary disputes often driven by competition over natural resources continue to pose significant challenges to peace and development in many communities. I commend the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration for convening this important interface and fostering meaningful dialogue on these critical national issues.

The Rivers State Government remains committed to collaborating with the Senate Committee, the Federal Government, and other relevant stakeholders to advance initiatives that promote security, resilience, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable economic development.

I am confident that the outcomes of this interface will further strengthen our collective efforts toward building peaceful, secure, and economically vibrant border communities across Nigeria.

‎I am deeply honored and sincerely grateful for the privilege of being inducted today as an Honorary Rotarian. I consider this prestigious recognition not only a profound personal honor but also a renewed clarion call to greater service to humanity, one that bridges the milestones of past administrative terms with our collective vision for the future.

‎I am particularly moved by the reminder that my induction today is not merely a reflection of the high office I hold, but an affirmation of the core values I cherish. I believe fiercely in the power of human service. I believe in rendering selfless support to those in need, fostering meaningful interactions with our elders, and championing the noble vision that Rotary stands for globally.

‎Rotary International has earned global respect through its unwavering commitment to selfless service, peacebuilding, disease prevention, community development, and the empowerment of the less privileged. These ideals resonate strongly with our administration’s ongoing responsibility to build a more equitable, compassionate, and prosperous society, building upon the foundations laid by those who served before us.

‎I dedicate this honor to the good people of Rivers State, and to my supportive friends and family who are here with me today. I assure you all that I will continue to passionately support and drive initiatives that promote human capital development, compassion, and sustainable community development across our regions.

‎I extend my unreserved appreciation to the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi for this exceptional recognition. I congratulate you on your invaluable, cumulative contributions to our society over the years. Most notably, I share in your immense joy on the historic milestone of producing the brand-new Rotary International President, our very own Olayinka Hakeem Babalola. This is a monumental feat that brings unprecedented pride to Rivers State and the entire African continent.

‎May Rotary continue to inspire hope, touch hearts, and transform lives across the globe.

‎Thank you, and God bless you all.
