PRESS STATEMENT

Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, the Ladilu of Oyo Kingdom, former Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, and gubernatorial aspirant of the ADC in Oyo State, has expressed deep sorrow and condemnation over the recent killing and abduction of residents and students in Ahoro-Esinle area of Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Chief Ilaka described the attack, which reportedly involved over 30 armed men riding motorcycles and dressed in military camouflage, as barbaric, painful, and unacceptable. He lamented the loss of innocent lives, the abduction of more than 40 students, and the growing insecurity threatening communities in northern Oyo State. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the safe return of those abducted.

He called on the Federal and State Government , security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to urgently strengthen security operations across the affected communities and forest corridors linking Oyo with neighboring states. According to him, proactive measures must be taken to dismantle criminal networks and prevent further infiltration of armed groups into the region, while local communities should be integrated into effective intelligence and early-warning systems.

Chief Ilaka also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, while praying for peace, safety, and stability in Orire Local Government, Ogbomoso zone, and Oyo State at large.

He reaffirmed that enough is enough regarding the continued killing and kidnapping of innocent Nigerians.

Yesterday, I had the distinct honor of joining other distinguished personalities at the chieftaincy Installation ceremony of the prestigious Yeye Moremi Oodua title on Chief Mrs. Olufunsho Amosun. The title was graciously conferred on her by His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR at the revered palace in Ile-Ife. It was a gathering marked by elegance and deep traditional significance.

Chief Mrs. Olufunsho Amosun, wife of former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, was celebrated as a woman of grace, substance, and noble character.

It was truly a regal and unforgettable moment, witnessing such a deserving woman ascend to a position of cultural and royal distinction. The atmosphere was filled with pride, admiration, and reverence.

Yesterday, I had the honor of attending the Ijebu-Jesa Social Club (Ibadan Branch) Award Ceremony held at Carlton Gate, Ibadan.

It was a memorable gathering filled with warmth, respect, and a strong sense of community as members came together to celebrate impactful lives and contributions.

I humbly received a posthumous award on behalf of my late mother, Chief (Mrs.) Felicia Aderemi Ilaka. It was a deeply emotional moment for me and my family, as her legacy of patriotism and service was recognized and celebrated.

I sincerely thank the Ibadan Branch of the Ijebu-Jesa Social Club for honoring my mother in such a meaningful way and I am grateful for the recognition given to her life and impact.

The newly constituted executive, led by the State Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Afeez Adelowo, alongside other dedicated leaders, represents a blend of experience, capacity, and forward-thinking vision. This team is well-positioned to drive the party’s agenda, promote inclusiveness, and build a formidable political structure that truly reflects the aspirations of the people of Oyo State. Like a well-built ship setting sail with a clear course, we are confident this leadership is destined for success.

Register as an official member of the African Democratic Congress. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially launched free online membership registration across Nigeria and Oyo State.

The platform, available at adcregistration.ng aligns with the requirements of the Electoral Act 2026, ensuring a transparent and verified digital membership register. Only members whose details are fully captured and verified in the party’s official digital database will be eligible to vote or contest in the party’s primaries.

Since the physical grassroots registration began in February, the party has continued to witness strong interest from people across Oyo State and beyond.
The African Democratic Congress remains committed to building a modern, inclusive, and citizen-driven political movement, encouraging the good people of Oyo State to be actively involved in shaping credible leadership and a better future for all.

Yesterday, I had the honour of attending the annual Ramadan Lecture hosted by my father and leader, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, held at the Palace of the Olubadan, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.

The spiritually uplifting gathering featured Sheikh Muyideen Salman, Chief Imam of Offa, as Guest Lecturer, while Fadilat Sheikh Abdul Ganiy Abubakri, Chief Imam of Ibadanland, served as the Spiritual Father of the Day.

It was a well-attended and impactful event that reflected Kabiyesi’s unwavering commitment to faith, unity, and community development.

The Ramadan Lecture, which holds annually, was once again profoundly educative and insightful, enriching our understanding and strengthening our devotion during this sacred month.

Yesterday, I had the honor of visiting my father and leader, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, to personally congratulate him on his ascension as the paramount ruler of Ibadan-land.

As we look forward to the historic crowing ceremony on the 26th of September, I am filled with conviction that this marks the dawn of greater things to come socially, economically, and politically for Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.

The crown has entered the town, and with it, a new chapter of dignity, progress, and hope begins.
