We are delighted to announce The Macarthy Youth Foundation as an official sponsor of the Ulakwo Youth Summit 2025, themed “From Promise to Progress: Empowering Youth for Community Development.”

Through this partnership, we are taking another bold step toward creating meaningful opportunities for young people in Ulakwo; fostering leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, and community-driven growth.

Among other significant commitments, this collaboration will see The Macarthy Youth Foundation provide a grant of ₦100,000 each to twenty-five (25) young people who are excelling in skilled work, small businesses, and apprenticeships.

This empowerment initiative is designed to encourage self-reliance, promote creativity, and strengthen the sense of belonging and responsibility among Ulakwo youths, inspiring them to grow their enterprises and contribute meaningfully to community development.

We sincerely appreciate the President and Founder of The Macarthy Youth Foundation, Builder Jerry Macarthy Kabiri, MNIOB, for his continued commitment to youth development and his every reliable support toward the advancement of young people in Imo State.

Together, we are building a generation of purpose-driven youths who will move Imo State from promise to progress.

We are proud to share that through the Ezhia Initiative for Community Development, we are implementing the Benji Mbonu Essay Competition 2025, generously sponsored by Chief Ben Mbonu.

This competition is not just about essays; it is about giving young minds the opportunity to think, to dream, and to express their voices on issues that matter. It is about nurturing the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of our communities.

When people of goodwill choose to invest in the growth of others, as Chief Ben Mbonu has done, they plant seeds that will outlive them. That is true legacy.

I believe that each of us, whether in big or small ways, politicians or not, can make a difference. You do not need to wait for perfect conditions before you start. The little steps we take today to inspire, to support, and to uplift others become the building blocks of stronger communities tomorrow.

May this initiative serve as a reminder that we all have something to give. Let us continue to sow into our communities, empower our youths, and create stories that generations after us will be proud of.

Celebrating the Power of Education

January 24th marks the International Day of Education, a day to recognize the transformative impact of education on individuals, communities, and societies. At Ezhia Initiative for Community Development, we believe that education is the key to unlocking the full potential of individuals and communities.

Education has the power to break cycles of poverty, foster critical thinking, and promote social mobility. It equips individuals with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to navigate an increasingly complex world. Moreover, education has the power to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding, helping to build more just and equitable societies.

At Ezhia Initiative for Community Development, we are committed to empowering youth through education. Recently, we organized a leadership training program for youths in Imo State, aimed at equipping them with the skills and confidence necessary to become effective leaders in their communities.

Additionally, we implemented the Owerri Federal Constituency Essay Competition, sponsored by Macarthy Youth Foundation. This competition provided a platform for young people to showcase their writing skills, critical thinking, and creativity, while promoting a culture of academic excellence and healthy competition.

As we celebrate the International Day of Education, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting education as a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of sustainable development. We believe that every individual deserves access to quality education, and we will continue to work tirelessly to make this vision a reality.

During the Yuletide season, we partnered with Be Well Widows Outreach to extend care and support to widows in need.

Be Well Widows Outreach, a registered organisation, has been a beacon of hope, care, advocacy, and support for widows in the South East for over 17 years. Their impactful programs benefit over 1,200 widows including people with Disabilities annually across the South Eastern States and parts of Rivers State.

As part of our collaboration, we provided logistics, manpower, media and publicity, as well as monitoring and evaluation to ensure the program was successfully implemented.

Additionally, we are joining hands with Be Well Widows Outreach in their ‘Return Back to School Project’, an initiative designed to ease the financial burden of widows as they prepare their wards to resume school.

We remain committed to supporting such initiatives that uplift and empower vulnerable groups in our society.
