CONSOLIDATION 2027

Hon. Miriam Onuoha,(Nwanyiwuihe) has continued to distinguish herself with a scorecard unmatched in the political history of Okigwe North Federal Constituency of the National Assembly.

Following the recent position of the Governor of Imo State and Leader of the APC in the State, , the zoning arrangement in Okigwe North clearly favours Hon. Miriam Onuoha ahead of 2027.

Beyond zoning, her experience in the Green Chamber, ranking, legislative capacity, and outstanding representation place her far ahead. Gender inclusion also stands strongly in her favour as Ndi-Okigwe North remain proud and ready to support their daughter for the APC ticket and eventual victory at the general election.

The Green Chambers is not a place for political apprenticeship; experience, capacity, and results matter. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha has proven herself worthy, competent, and prepared to continue delivering quality representation for her people.

STATEHOUSE STATEMENT

PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU'S STATEMENT ON THE COMMENCEMENT OF APC PRIMARIES NATIONWIDE

Fellow party men and women, I am pleased to witness this historic moment in the annals of our party. The party we formed just like yesterday is gearing up for its fourth election cycle. It is a source of pride for me, and I believe for all our distinguished leaders and teeming members.

We founded the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the firm principles of progressive politics, consensus democracy, and personal devotion and sacrifice. This principle of selflessness and devotion has seen us go through each election cycle and come out firmer together. We must consolidate on it as we go into the primaries tomorrow.

The primary elections, kicking off with those for House of Representatives aspirants tomorrow and culminating in the presidential primaries on May 25, 2026, are not mere exercises to produce our standard bearers. They are a referendum on our unity, resilience and strength as a party. They present an opportunity to renew the bond and ideals that we share.

I am aware that, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act (2026) and our party's constitution, leaders at various levels have initiated conversations to produce consensus candidates. It is a commendable option that would help in reducing rancour and bad blood among party members. I note the impressive progress made in this regard and encourage fellow party members to make the most of this window to ensure a seamless process and a more unified party.

Election is an essential ingredient of democracy. Where consensus fails, I urge us all to go into the primaries as brothers and sisters. All participants in the primaries, as contestants or voters, must keep the peace and be ready to play as sportsmen and women in the overall interest of the party and our country. We cannot afford rancorous conduct or the debasement of our democracy and party unity. In every contest, there will be a winner and a loser. I urge the winners not to gloat in victory and the losers to show sportsmanship by taking things in their stride and preparing for another time. The ultimate winners are those who don't choose to wreck the boat but rather work to prepare for another round. Our opponents are waiting for us to be against each other; we should disappoint them.

Winners and party leaders at all levels should reach out to those who did not succeed with olive branches. We should not play the politics of old; the do-or-die politics that we have put behind us. Politics should never be a zero-sum game. Any candidate that wins does so for all of us as a party. Those who lost out have the opportunity to appeal to the party's committees set up for redress.

To the party leadership, our governors, and other leaders, I urge you to be fair and just. You must rise above sentiment to offer all aspirants a level playing field that guarantees participation without let or hindrance. While only one person will win for every seat contested, we should give eventual losers the satisfaction of a fair contest.

The inclusion of women and youth is dear to my heart. I appeal to voters in the primaries and leaders at all levels to give special consideration to our women and youth in the contest. We cannot afford to relegate the two significant demographics of our population.

Lastly, the Police and other security agencies must remain professional and avoid acting as interlopers during this exercise. Your duties strictly centre on ensuring peaceful exercise. Nothing more.

I wish all our aspirants and party members good luck and a successful outing. I look forward to working with the victorious aspirants for the success of our great party in the general election.

IMO ASSEMBLY ENGAGES STUDENTS OF IMO STATE UNIVERSITY OWERRI AND FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC NEKEDE ON LAWMAKING AND PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURES' WORKSHOP

In a bid to bridge the gap between academic theory and legislative practice among students of higher institutions, the Imo State House Of Assembly has fostered deeper understanding of lawmaking and parliamentary procedures in the students of Imo State University Owerri and the Federal Polytechnic Nekede.

This was the outcome of the Legislative Workshop held on Tuesday, 12/05/2026, for the Students of Public Administration Department of the Imo State University Owerri (National Association Of Public Administration Students, NAPAS,) And the 33rd Parliament, Students Representative Council, Students Union Government, SRC-SUG, of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede.

While the National Association Of Public Administration Students was led by their President, Hon Iwu Chisom Wisdom, the 33rd Parliament Students Representative Council, Students Union Government SRC-SUG of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede was led by the SUG Speaker, Rt Hon Dom Jerome Precious.

Receiving the students of the two tertiary institutions on educational engagement at the Imo State House Of Assembly, the Clerk and Head Of Legislative Service, Chinelo Adaora Emeghara, Esq, assured them of the Assembly's support in ensuring that they were optimally enriched at the end of the workshop.

During the workshop, which took place inside the Hallowed Chamber of the Assembly, the leadership of the bodies expressed profound appreciation and gratitude for the knowledge impacted on them. They also highlighted the need for continued support, especially in capacity building to better equip them in the discharge of their responsibilities and in advancing Youth participation in Parliamentary affairs.

The Clerk used the occasion to educate them on parliamentary procedures, legislative processes, including how Bills are passed, how Motions are moved, how House Committees function, the functions and duties of the Office of the Clerk, and how other Departments in the Assembly function, for the overall running and good of the Legislative Arm of Government. Also, they were exposed to how a New House is inaugurated, the election of Speaker, Deputy Speaker, etc, and how it winds up, before the inauguration of the next House.

In her words, the Clerk, Chinelo Adaora Emeghara, Esq, said, *"The Clerk of the House of Assembly is the Chief Administrative and Accounting officer of the legislature. He offers procedural advice to the Speaker and Honourable members. The Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate records of proceedings, and managing the parliamentary bureaucracy. The Clerk also authenticate Bills passed by the House before they are presented for assent to the Governor. The Clerk preside over the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker during the inauguration of a New House. The Clerk acts as the Accounting officer and defends the House budget before the appropriate Committees. Indeed, the Clerk acts as the engine room of the legislature, facilitating the legislative functions of lawmaking, representation, appropriation and oversight".*

*"The Clerk assists in running Chamber proceedings, recording votes and records of proceedings (Minutes), and maintaining the journals. As the Head of the Legislative Service, the Clerk supervises Staff, and manages the legislative bureaucracy".*

The two bodies were also invited to visit, at any time, the Assembly, to observe Plenary sessions at the Chamber for further legislative enrichment.

The Deputy Clerk, Mrs Ann-Martins, in her remark, appreciated the students for attending the legislative workshop, which has enhanced their knowledge of how the Assembly function.

OKIGWE NORTH 2027: NWANYIWUIHE FOR CONSOLIDATION AND SUSTAINED PROGRESS in

As the 2027 general elections draw near, the people of Okigwe North Federal Constituency face a defining choice: to consolidate on visible progress or risk disruption. The demand of this moment is clear — to elect capable representatives whose developmental strides are tangible and accessible to all. In this regard, the incumbent lawmaker, Hon Princess Miriam Onuoha, stands out as the standard bearer whose record has set a new benchmark for representation across the 33 wards of Okigwe, Onuimo, and Isiala Mbano local government areas.

Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha’s tenure has been marked by purposeful interventions that touch every critical sector of communal life. Hon Princess Onuoha has discharged the responsibilities of her office with exemplary dedication and panache, attracting federal presence and lifting lives through empowerment. The masses recognize that competence, credibility, and outstanding performance remain the only reliable foundations for consolidation.

For Okigwe North to sustain and deepen the developmental progress already underway, continuity is not just desirable but necessary. The 2027 project is one of consolidation to finish the remaining four years of Isiala Mbano, and Nwanyiwuihe represents that imperative. _Ka Nwanyí chítukwuo_ — let the woman continue — so that the gains recorded across all 33 wards are protected, expanded, and translated into lasting prosperity for the constituency.
