This CAC notice is simply informing all registered companies in Nigeria that from 1 August 2026, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) will begin enforcing the law on what must appear on every official company business letter. Companies that do not comply may face sanctions.
What is a business letter?
A business letter is any official document your company sends out, such as:
* Letterheads
* Employment letters
* Appointment letters
* Invoices (where applicable)
* Quotations
* Official correspondence
* Demand letters
Any printed or electronic letter carrying your company's name
What must appear on the letter?
Every company must include the following:
1. Company Name
Example: OlohunEsan Concepts Limited
2. RC Number (Registration Number)
Example: RC: 1234567
3. Directors' Names
The present forename (first name or initials) and surname (last name) of every director.
Example:
Badmos M. Oriyomi
Adewale A. Yusuf
4. Former Name (if applicable)
If a director has legally changed their name due to marriage, court order, or another reason, the former name should also be stated where required.
If no director has changed their name, this does not apply.
5. Nationality of Every Non-Nigerian Director
If a director is not Nigerian, indicate the person's nationality.
Example: John Smith – British
If all directors are Nigerians, you do not need to state nationality.
What does this mean for your company?
Since OlohunEsan Concepts Limited is registered in Nigeria and, if all your directors are Nigerians, your business letter should contain at least:
> OLOHUNESAN CONCEPTS LIMITED
RC: ######X
Directors:
Badmos Mujib Oriyomi
(Other director's name, if any)
You don't need to include a former name or nationality unless those situations apply.
What should you do before 1 August 2026?
Update your company letterhead.
Update invoice templates and quotation templates.
Update any official electronic letter format (PDFs, emails using company letterhead, etc.).
Ensure the required details are visible and legible.
