Chapter Four – The Truth Beneath the Surface
They floated together in a wide underwater space.
Mira’s heart pounded.
Nothing in her life had prepared her for this.
“What… does that mean?” she asked.
The water woman gently touched Mira’s chest.
The world around them shifted.
Images appeared inside the water.
Mira saw a younger woman—pregnant—running through the forest during a storm.
She was bleeding.
Weak.
Terrified.
She collapsed beside the river.
And the river…
Moved.
The water wrapped around her.
Protected her.
Healed her.
Then the image changed.
The woman gave birth at the riverbank.
Alone.
Crying.
The water rose gently around her.
And when the baby came into the world—
The river glowed.
“That was your mother,” the water woman said softly.
“She was saved by our people.”
Mira’s body trembled.
“Your blood is human,” she continued.
“But your soul was touched by water before you took your first breath.”
Mira whispered,
“So… I’m not normal?”
The water woman looked at her with deep kindness.
“You were never meant to be.”

CONTINUATION OF CHAPTER ONE: PART THREE

THE GIRL WHO HAD EVERYTHING

Downstairs, her mother was supervising the chef while her father reviewed documents at the long glass dining table.
Their house was quiet in the way only very rich houses were.
No chaos.
No shouting.
No broken plates.
Just careful peace.
“Amara!” her mother called.
“Dinner will be ready soon.”
“I’m coming,” Amara replied lazily.
She walked down the marble staircase slowly, dragging her fingers across the polished rail.
Her father looked up and smiled immediately.
“You look beautiful, sweetheart.”
She barely acknowledged it, sinking into her chair.
“What’s for dinner?”
Her mother laughed lightly.
“Your favorite.”
Everything was always her favorite.

CHAPTER ONE: PART TWO
THE GIRL WHO HAD EVERYTHING

Amara lay across her king-sized bed that afternoon, scrolling through her phone, laughing loudly at something a boy had posted.
The message flashed again.
Ethan Carter.
She smiled without meaning to.
He had transferred to her private school only two months earlier, but already he had become a quiet mystery everyone talked about. Tall. Reserved. Soft-spoken. A scar curved slightly near his left eyebrow.
No one knew where he came from.
But Amara knew one thing.
He looked at her differently.
Not like she was untouchable.
Not like she was expensive.
Just… like she was real.
Are you coming to the party tonight?
— Ethan.
She hesitated.
Her parents had already planned a small dinner for her. Something private. Something warm.
But the party was louder.
Brighter.
And full of people who admired her.
She typed back quickly.
Maybe. My parents want me home early.
A moment passed.
I’ll be there. I’d really like to see you.
Her heart skipped — soft and sudden.

Chapter One
The Girl Who Had Everything

People said Amara Vale was born with the kind of life other girls prayed for.
And for seventeen beautiful, careless years… it was true.
Her world smelled of expensive perfume, warm pastries in the morning, and freshly polished floors that reflected her face like a mirror. Her bedroom alone was larger than most houses on her street. A soft white chandelier hung above her bed like a floating crown.
Amara had never cleaned her own room.
She had never washed her own clothes.
She had never stood in a queue.
She had never waited for anything.
If she wanted something, it arrived.
If she cried, the world bent.
And if she smiled… her parents melted.
Her mother, Mrs. Eleanor Vale, always said with a soft laugh, “My daughter deserves softness. Life is already hard enough.”
Her father, Mr. Richard Vale, used to lift Amara off the ground and spin her like a princess.
“You were born to shine,” he would whisper into her hair.
“And I will make sure the world never dims you.”
They meant it.
They truly did.

Chapter Two – The Night the River Summoned Her Name
One fateful evening, everything underwent a profound transformation.
The town slumbered peacefully.
The atmosphere was heavy with anticipation and utterly still.
Mira found herself wide awake, her restlessness palpable.
Her chest felt constricted.
Her mind was a maelstrom of thoughts.
And then…
She perceived it.
Not through her auditory senses.
Rather, with her entire being.
A soft, melodious voice.
“Mira…”
She sat up in bed, her heart pounding in her chest.
“Mira…”
The voice came again, its gentle cadence reminiscent of water flowing over smooth stones.
Without conscious thought, she rose from bed and slipped out of the house.
Her feet seemed to move of their own accord, guiding her through the narrow pathways.
Directly to the river.
The moon cast its silvery glow upon the water, creating a dazzling spectacle.
She stood at the river's edge, her breathing becoming slow, deep, and calm.
“Mira…”
The river's surface undulated, as if something was rising from the depths.
She stepped closer, her foot slipping on the wet earth.
And before she could utter a 𝚜𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚍,
She fell into the river.

A local charity organization realized that the organization had never received a donation from the towns most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute. "Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldnt you like to give back to the community in some way?" The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, "First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?" Embarrassed, the donation seeker mumbled, "Um ... no." The lawyer interrupts, "or that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?" The person coming for donation began to stammer out an apology, but was interrupted again. "or that my sister`s husband died in a traffic accident," the lawyer`s voice rising in indignation, "leaving her penniless with three children?!" The person who came asking for donation felt completely humiliated and said simply, "I had no idea..." On a roll, the lawyer cut him off once again, "So if I don`t give any money to them, why should I give any to you?"
