Children hold flags on Wednesday during a rehearsal parade in Osogbo in south-west Nigeria on the eve of the inauguration of Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for his second term in office. The state is out of step with the national electoral calendar because he challenged the outcome of elections in 2007 and was eventually declared the winner in 2010.

OSUN TRIBUNAL: WITHDRAW YOUR INFAMOUS PETITION AGAINST AREGBESOLA; OSUN APC ADVISES PDP

THE All Progressives Congress has urged Iyiola Omisore, the defeated PDP’s candidate in the last August 9 governorship election, to honourably discontinue his impossible mission to remove Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from office.

According to the APC, ‘Omisore’s exercise will be as futile as that of his party’s wasted effort to annul the legislative elections of 2011 in which all PDP’s candidates lost their bid to be elected into the State and National assembly.

‘From what the public has seen and heard so far, APC claimed, Omisore and the PDP appeared to be relying purely on falsehood, and not fact on the ground, and their lies are falling apart like a pack of cards.

Last Friday, the Osun PDP withdrew a case seeking to declare null, the election supervised by Amb. Rufus Akeju, the State INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State at the Federal High Court, Osogbo through a motion dated 15th October, 2014 and signed by their counsel, Kehinde Adesiyan Esq.

Recall that the PDP, prior to 2011 election approached the Federal High Court, Osogbo for an injunction to restrain Amb. Akeju from supervising the conduct of the election and was granted, but appealed against by INEC at the Court of Appeal in Akure.

The APC said the Appeal Court three weeks ago struck off INEC’s appeal due
to what he termed ‘defective filing of the Notice’. Omisore and the PDP attempted to turn the ruling to a ‘judgment’ sacking all the state legislators both in Osun and Abuja. But when it became clear that the PDP couldn’t win on this falsehood, it had the case withdrawn from the Federal High Court in Osogbo last Friday.

This lie was so blatant and embarrassing ?that even some responsible members of the PDP within and outside Osun felt sad and ashamed that so much falsehood was being associated with their party. Same with another lie that the Tribunal had ordered a recount of votes for which the tribunal chairman denied and warned the party to allow them do their job.

According to the APC, the PDP appeared not to have learnt anything from the pressure of spreading deliberate falsehood.

‘This inability? to learn from history is what has made the PDP and Omisore to replicate futile mission all over again, and that anything founded on falsehood will fail and the current mission of Omisore, which is fundamentally based on ignoble lie will also collapse’, the APC predicted.

The party said that it was therefore in the interest of Omisore, the PDP ?and fledging democracy that this mission impossible be aborted before it pollutes the democratic atmosphere

‘The earlier? Omisore comes to terms with the reality that he is just chasing shadow, the better for everybody,’

ORANMIYAN NEW TOWN: WE ARE GIVING OUR PEOPLE A HEALTHY LIVING ENVIRONMENT

In a bid to further create a conducive environment for healthy living and to boost the social-economic life of the State, the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has on Thursday, flagged off the new Oranmiyan Town locate within the capital territory.

Aregbesola who performed the groundbreaking of the new Oranmiyan Town in Osogbo, said, the event marked another giant strides in the transformation of the state.

He said, the new Oranmiyan Town when completed would have seven neighbourhoods, and also create jobs for the unemployed.

According to him,” Since the creation of Osun in the past 23 years, nothing of such had ever been done and also achieved by past administrations.”

The Governor praised stakeholders for their partnership towards making the project a reality.

He said the new Oranmiyan Town has about 3000 residential plots and expected to cater for an estimated population of over 80,000 when completed.

“Three arms zones have been created to accommodate and incorporate the House of Assembly (Legislature), and Judiciary quarters.

” The Governor’s office and proposed new government house would be sited in the new Oranmiyan Town when completed.”, Aregbesola said.

He added that adequate provisions have been made to ensure that Oranmiyan Town accommodates other social amenities, such as good road network, electricity, potable water supply among others. It would also have sport facilities such as, Squash Club, 18 Hole Golf Course and a Polo ground.

While assuring the enthusiastic occupants of adequate security in the town, Aregbesola recounted the land with which the town is located had been acquired about 45 years ago during the tenure of late Obafemi Awololo as prime minister and the owners were duly compensated.

Aregbesola added that, Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) would be issued for whoever obtained form for the purchase of the land within three days.

He therefore urged the people of the state to make use the golden opportunity, saying it would definitely help in boosting the social-economic life of the state.

Emphasizing on various developments his administration has brought to the state within a space of three and half years in spite of the meager allocation coming from the federation account, Aregbesola said he would continue to embark on laudable projects that would help making the state a hub of economy.

He therefore urged the good people of the state to continue praying for him in order to be successful in his quest at taking the state to the greater height.

Earlier, Commissioner for Land, Physical Planning and Urban Development Architect Muyiwa Ige, said, the Oranmiyan Town signified Yoruba nation and a pride of the Yoruba race among its types in Nigeria.

Ige said about 2000 people have indicated interest to get land allocation certificate, which would be delivered to them soon.

He said, before the idea for the construction of Oranmiyan town came on board from the governor, most of the government reserve(GRA) areas, were not properly planned.

Ige, however, urged stakeholders and citizens of the state to continue to support the present administration, towards socio-economic and commercial growth.

He said this while reacting to a comment by senatorial aspirant for Osun Central Senatorial District, Chief Oluwole Aina that Omisore will be win at the election tribunal.

OSUN ELECTION TRIBUNAL DISSOLVED, NEW PANEL CONSTITUTED.

The leadership of the nation’s judiciary has hearkened to the demand of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to dissolve Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

A new three-member panel has also been appointed.

The new members are Justice E.N. Ikpejime from Benue State, who is the chairman; Justice V.I Ofesi from Delta State and Justice Kutigi from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Former chairman of the dissolved panel, Justice I.M. Bako, had earlier been withdrawn from the panel.

APC, in a statement by its spokesperson, Lai Mohammed, kicked against his withdrawal and called for the dissolution of the panel.

Bako’s withdrawal was said to have been predicated on initial complaints by APC in the state.

Mohammed said the party was not satisfied with the removal of Bako alone on August 27.

Other members of the dissolved panel were Justices A.M. Awwalu and Benson Ogbu.

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, Senator Iyiola Omisore, is contesting the votes of Governor Rauf Aregbesola in some local governments and seeking the cancellation of the alleged dubious figures.

He wants the tribunal to declare him the governor-elect using the lawful votes.

He contends that his lawful votes were more than Aregbesola’s.

The incumbent is, however, asking that his victory at the poll should be upheld.
