REPORT ON OUR TOWN HALL MEETING HELD AT INNAKAWA ON THE NEED TO ESTABLISH COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL .
It was observed that Innakawa community and its two neighboring communities [Tsahiro and Tsolonbashi] have no access to primary school, only few pupils of not more than 25 out of more than 200 boys and girls used to attend a neighbouring Nomadic primary school at Faleru in Warji local government area of Bauchi State. COHDI observed that the community have made an effort to see that school is establish for them in which they have raised the issue before the policy makers then, representing their ward at local government council and local education authority [LEA] in which they were failed in convincing them to have the services, and later the community also have made an effort to build a block of two class rooms and office with sandy blocks which they have started and failed to complete.
As a result of this, COHDI conducted a town hall meeting with three affected communities in which both stake holders and other communities members have agreed to be committed and support in any kind to see that school is establish in the community. The village head of the communities have volunteered the land with which to build the school. Also an SBMC committee of six people was set up, involving the targeted community members.
As a result of these, the COHDI in collaboration with committee from the community and our partners at JISCAP would pay an advocacy visit to the Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board [SUBEB] to advocate for the services.

The effort of bringing stakeholders to a town Hall meeting in Gwaram way back December 2014 where issues on Government Day Senior Arabic Secondary are discussed in the presence of the District Head of Gwaram Alhaji Ali Maitama (Sarkin Shanun Dutse )
The Principal of the school Mal Jafar Adam Breifed the participants on the current situation and status of the school ,as it operates in an apartment /compound provided by a philanthropist in person of Justice Tijjani Abubakar (Dan Ruwatan Dutse).
The COHDI team later designed a micro work plan so as to guide the community on how get more buy-in from various organs through advocacy and encouraging community participation.
Relevant stakeholders were contacted, ranging from the Ministry of Education, Islamic Education Bureau, Local Government Administration large number of policy and political actors, all targeting their commitment of ensuring that this School has permanent site and well equipped reading and learning environment.
To cut the story short, as of today the school was located to its permanent site along Old Farin Dutse Road with one block of two classroom provided through a constituency Project by a Senator. Two additional teachers were posted from IEB and that parcel of Land was provided by the Local Government Authority.
All these salient achievements were successful as a result of collective efforts initiated by COHDI and now our community is proudly enjoying the fruit of vision that ''Our Community Is Our Pride'' (PLEASE BEAR WITH, AS PICTURES WILL BE PROVIDED LATER) for an evidence based.
