NIGERIA; my Nigeria!
I will start with our Old National Anthem which was used from independence in 1960 until 1978.
"Nigeria, we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians all, are proud to serve
our sovereign motherland
Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honour'd,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.
O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed."
Today Sunday, 23rd September 2018, will forever remain historic. A day to never forget in the State of Osun, Nigeria. An Election was conducted by INEC on 22nd September, 2018 and according to reports, it was free and fair. To my greatest surprise, the election suddenly became inconclusive.
Why?
Is it because the ruling party (APC) was the runner-up after being defeated by PDP with just 353 votes despite gross rigging exercise by APC? This is a show of total injustice and abuse of power displayed by FG, INEC & APC.
Even in our old national anthem, we hoped & prayed for the reign of Truth & Justice (which is/was the symbol of our flag) to build a nation where no man is oppressed.
What has become the story today?
We will not continue to seat and watch till we go into extinction without taking necessary actions.
Abraham Lincoln said 'Democracy is the government of the people, for the people and by the people.' You know what that means? It is the government of our choices and therefore our choices SHOULD and MUST remain our choices.
The Result of Yesterday's Election in Osun State announced today after great doctoring by INEC & the APC shows APC's Candidate wasn't the choice of the people which led to the election being declared inconclusive. It is well!
There will be a rerun of election in the so called affected units on Thursday, 27th September, 2018.
By the special Grace of God, it will be a total victory for OSUN_PDP.
Arise, O compatriots
Nigeria's call obey
to serve our fatherland
with love and strength and faith.
The labour of our heroes past
shall never be in vain,
to serve with heart and might
one nation bound in freedom
Peace and unity.
I hope for a NEW NIGERIA where no man will be oppressed.
Till then Sirs/Mas.
M. O. Olayinka.
23rd September, 2018.
