THE LEGISLATURE AND GOVERNANCE DEFICIT: A CREDIBLE ALTERNATIVE: Support Dr A*ondolo Nickson Badeson for Member Adamawa State House of Assembly, Numan constituency 2023.
The problem of good governance in Nigeria is an intractable phenomenon that has become complex, pervasive and chronic affecting a large segment of the society. The magnitude of the phenomenon in Nigeria and it's impact on sustainable development have attracted global attention. In every democratic nation, there are fundamental principles that form the foundation of good governance. The legislature plays a significant role in enhancing good governance in any nation. It is widely acknowledged that an effective and vibrant legislature is essential to democracy, the rule of law, human rights as well as economic and social development of any nation.
The primary or statutory role of the legislature is to make new laws, and change or improve old ones. It is imperative to state that the role of the legislature goes beyond making laws as the legislature carries out many other crucial functions in the polity with the intendment of promoting good governance and development. In a nutshell, the functions of the legislature includes among others; Rule (law) making, Representative function, Oversight functions, Confirmation of Nominations made by the Executive and Approval of Annual Budgets.
Good governance can be achieved through proper Representation. Representatives are constitutionally required to articulate, aggregate and defend the interests and concerns of their constituents during policymaking in their various Assemblies and by providing certain basic amenities and empowerment programmes of constituents who voted them into Parliament.
The fundamental questions we need to ask are: How Representative is Numan Local Government in the Adamawa State House of Assembly? What bills and laws have been proposed and enacted for the betterment of Numan Constituency? To what extent have the rural communities in Numan empowered? Are there tangible benefits to show for their saçrifices before, during and after elections? There seems to be more questions than answers. Numan is known for academic excellence and it's high time we restore back the dignity of Numan in the Adamawa State House of Assembly. Dr A*ondolo Nickson Badeson is a credible alternative that will bring about qualitative representation in the House of Assembly. His academic expertise in the field of Rural Development and Environmental Resource Management is an added advantage that will enhance total transformation of rural areas. His penchant for Human Capacity Development, Mentoring and Empowering Youths, Women and less previleged will be brought to the fore for better service delivery. Support Dr ASONDOLO NICKSON BADESON in his bid to become the Honourable Member Representing Numan Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly in 2023.
