Over the weekend, I had the honour of attending the grand finale of the UNN Lions and Lionesses Inter-Faculty Match, hosted by the Director of Games of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), University of Nigeria Nsukka(UNN). It was an inspiring atmosphere: filled with energy, sportsmanship, and the vibrant spirit of our youth. Beyond the thrill of the game, I was deeply honored to receive a Distinguished Leadership Award from the Office of the Director of Sports, SUG, UNN. This recognition, awarded for my contributions to sports development, is not just a personal milestone but a evidence to our collective commitment to the next generation.
I remain firm in my belief that the youth are the backbone of our society, and investing in them and giving them opportunity in the government is a strategic move toward a brighter, more prosperous future. My administration is dedicated to providing the platforms necessary for our young people to thrive, focusing on sports development, education, ICT, and sustainable empowerment. By fostering quality leadership and creating these pathways, we ensure that the energy of our youth is channeled into productive ventures that benefit the entirety of Nsukka LGA and our state at large.
Our commitment to sports is already yielding tangible results through structured talent identification and global exportation. Following our successful hosting of the Nsukka Local Government Female Football Championship, we established the official Nsukka LGA Female Football Team to give our young women a professional stage, currently 3 of our talented young girls have been identified and profiled by Enugu Rangers Female Team. In that same spirit of excellence, we also inaugurated the official male side, Ome-Ogo FC, to ensure our young men have equal opportunities to showcase their skills to the world. These teams represent more than just sports; they are symbols of hope, unity, and the professional growth we envision for our people.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to the SUG of the University of Nigeria for this prestigious recognition. This award serves as a stepping stone, reinforcing my resolve to keep pushing the boundaries of youth-centric governance. We will continue to invest in our youth today to guarantee a stronger society tomorrow.
