Over the weekend, I had the honour of attending the grand finale of the UNN Lions and Lionesses Inter-Faculty Match, hosted by the Director of Games of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), University of Nigeria Nsukka(UNN). It was an inspiring atmosphere: filled with energy, sportsmanship, and the vibrant spirit of our youth. Beyond the thrill of the game, I was deeply honored to receive a Distinguished Leadership Award from the Office of the Director of Sports, SUG, UNN. This recognition, awarded for my contributions to sports development, is not just a personal milestone but a evidence to our collective commitment to the next generation.

I remain firm in my belief that the youth are the backbone of our society, and investing in them and giving them opportunity in the government is a strategic move toward a brighter, more prosperous future. My administration is dedicated to providing the platforms necessary for our young people to thrive, focusing on sports development, education, ICT, and sustainable empowerment. By fostering quality leadership and creating these pathways, we ensure that the energy of our youth is channeled into productive ventures that benefit the entirety of Nsukka LGA and our state at large.

Our commitment to sports is already yielding tangible results through structured talent identification and global exportation. Following our successful hosting of the Nsukka Local Government Female Football Championship, we established the official Nsukka LGA Female Football Team to give our young women a professional stage, currently 3 of our talented young girls have been identified and profiled by Enugu Rangers Female Team. In that same spirit of excellence, we also inaugurated the official male side, Ome-Ogo FC, to ensure our young men have equal opportunities to showcase their skills to the world. These teams represent more than just sports; they are symbols of hope, unity, and the professional growth we envision for our people.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the SUG of the University of Nigeria for this prestigious recognition. This award serves as a stepping stone, reinforcing my resolve to keep pushing the boundaries of youth-centric governance. We will continue to invest in our youth today to guarantee a stronger society tomorrow.

Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting a strategic meeting of Enugu North stakeholders, ably chaired by our Deputy Governor, His Excellency Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai. The engagement provided a valuable platform for us to deliberate extensively on the developmental strides and forward-looking agenda of our amiable Governor within the Enugu North Senatorial Zone.

Our discussions were centered on key issues affecting the growth and progress of our zone, including preparations for His Excellency’s forthcoming visit, as well as actionable pathways to strengthen our collective advancement: academically, politically, and economically. It was a productive and insightful session, marked by unity of purpose and a shared commitment to sustainable development.

I sincerely appreciate our stakeholders and the good people of Enugu North for their active participation and contributions, which ensured a successful and impactful deliberation focused on progress and continuity.

During the meeting, I also seized the opportunity to express our profound gratitude to His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, for his transformative leadership and the numerous developmental projects currently ongoing across the state, particularly within our council area. Notable among these are the New Anglican Road – Ugwuechara – Ogurugu Road project, the Mechanic Village Road, and the Enyihuchiri Street project, all of which are set to significantly improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for our people.

As we move forward, we remain resolute in our support for His Excellency’s vision and committed to ensuring the continuity of his administration beyond his first tenure, in order to consolidate on the gains already recorded.

Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more prosperous Enugu North.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ stands as the greatest testament to the power of hope and the promise of a new beginning. This is a truth I came to know deeply during the thirteen years I spent living with a priest, and one I carry with me today as a Knight in the Roman Catholic Church. As we gather to celebrate this victory, we are reminded that the essence of Easter is found in the triumph of life over death and light over every shadow. It is a season that calls us to cast aside the old and embrace a renewed spirit of purpose, reminding us that no matter the challenges we face, restoration is always possible through faith and perseverance.

At the heart of this celebration is the profound lesson of sacrifice, which remains the cornerstone of any great society. Just as Christ gave His all for the redemption of mankind, we are called to look beyond ourselves and work for the common good of our neighbors and our land. This period encourages us to cultivate a culture of selflessness and patience, understanding that the progress we seek for our communities is built on the daily sacrifices we make to uphold peace, justice, and unity within our borders.

To the resilient and wonderful Ndi Nsukka, I pray that the miraculous power of the resurrection touches every home and hearth. May this Easter bring an end to every season of lack and usher in an era of unprecedented growth, security, and communal joy across our local government. As we share in the festivities, may the blessings of the risen Lord keep us healthy and united in our vision for a better Nsukka. I wish you all a deeply spiritual and very Happy Easter celebration.

Happy Easter Ndi Nsukka!

My fellow Nsukka people, as we join the global Christian community to observe Good Friday, we are reminded of the ultimate sacrifice made for the redemption of humanity. Today is a day of deep reflection, solemnity, and a profound reminder of the power of selfless love and the endurance of faith. The story of Good Friday is not just one of suffering, but of an unwavering commitment to a higher purpose, teaching us that before the glory of the Resurrection, there must be the trial of the Cross.

In our journey to build a better, stronger, and more prosperous Nsukka Local Government Area, we are often called to make sacrifices, whether through patience during our ongoing infrastructure projects, cooperation in our security initiatives, or by simply being our brother's keeper. Just as this day precedes the joy of Easter, I am confident that the current efforts of this administration: from the asphalting of our rural roads to the reclamation of our lands and the empowerment of our youth, are the necessary steps toward a glorious "Easter morning" for all Nsukka people.

On this holy day, I urge us all to reflect on our roles as citizens in the development of our communities, to pray for peace, unity, and divine wisdom for our leaders, and to extend a hand of fellowship to the vulnerable and indigent among us. Let the lessons of today inspire us to serve one another with more compassion and to remain steadfast in our hope for a brighter future. May the blessings of this season fill your homes with peace and grace.

As we usher in the month of April, I am filled with a renewed hope and sense of purpose and a steadfast commitment to the progress of our beloved land. Our journey toward a more prosperous Nsukka is well underway, and I want to assure you that my resolve to complete our ongoing major projects remains unshakable. Our administration is too focused to be distracted. These initiatives: designed to bolster our infrastructure and stimulate our local economy, are not just promises; they are the blueprints for a sustainable future that will provide high-impact benefits to every community within our borders.

Beyond physical development, the sanctity of life and the protection of property remain my administration's highest priorities. We have intensified our security strategies to ensure that every household in Nsukka remains a haven of peace and that our streets remain safe for commerce and transit. We will continue to work hand-in-hand with security agencies and community stakeholders to fortify our defenses, ensuring that the hard-earned peace we enjoy today is never compromised

I pray that this month of April unfolds with testimonies of joy and success for every household of Ndi Nsukka. May the Almighty grant us the wisdom to seize new opportunities and the resilience to overcome every challenge. As we go about our businesses and professional callings, may divine favor distinguish us all and lead us to higher heights of achievement.

Happy New Month to you all; let us continue to build the Nsukka of our dreams together.

On this auspicious occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, I extend my warmest felicitations and heartiest congratulations to our Muslim brothers and sisters in Nsukka Local Government Area and across the globe.

This celebration marks the successful completion of a month-long journey of prayer, fasting, and spiritual reflection. It is a time that reminds us of the core values of sacrifice, patience, and compassion for one another. As we gather with family and friends to share in the joy of the festivities, let us carry forward the lessons of Ramadan by reaching out to the less privileged and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood that unite us as a people.

On behalf of the government and the good people of Nsukka Local Government Council, I pray that this Eid brings abundant blessings, peace, and renewed hope to every household. May the Almighty accept your sacrifices and grant us the wisdom to continue working together for the progress and prosperity of our dear local government.

Let us celebrate with gratitude, keeping the spirit of unity alive as we strive toward a brighter future for all.

On behalf of the Council and good people of Nsukka Local Government Area, I present our profound birthday wishes to the disruptive innovator and inclusive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah on the occasion of his 54th anniversary.

Your Excellency, today, we celebrate not just your chronological age, but also the fact that on this day in 1972, God gifted you to Ndi Enugu to lead us from the backwaters to serve as a reference point and poster boy of subnational transformation in Nigeria.

Never in the history of this nation has a subnational government embarked on projects in the scale you have done in the last 34 months. With more than 2,000 projects cutting across all sectors and the 260 wards of Enugu State, you have showcased the power of vision, courage, and integrity in leadership.

We wish you many happy returns in good health, God's grace and uncommon favour.

Congratulations, Your Excellency

Today, I was in Lejja Community to attend the funeral rites of the late Mrs. Juliana Orija Nweze (nee Omeh), the beloved mother of Hon. Alphonsus Nweze, the former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area. It was a solemn gathering as we joined family, friends, and well-wishers to pay our final respects to a respected matriarch.

We stand in profound solidarity with Hon. Nweze and his entire family during this moment of grief, sharing in the pain of their loss. It is our earnest prayer that the Almighty grants the soul of the departed a peaceful and happy repose, while giving the family the strength to bear this irreplaceable departure.

Today, I had the distinct honor of accompanying our visionary Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, on a project supervision tour of the ongoing 44.1km Opi Nsukka–Ugwogo–Abakpa Nike Road construction. Witnessing the pace and quality of work firsthand, it is evident that Enugu State is being led by a man of action who truly understands that world-class infrastructure is the bedrock of our economic transformation.

This vital road project is far more than just a stretch of asphalt; it is a strategic bridge to our collective future. By directly linking and conurbating Nsukka city and Enugu city, this project will shrink the distance between us, making Nsukka more accessible than ever and finally helping us achieve our desired status as a premier academic city. The socio-economic ripple effects of this connectivity will be felt in every household and business within our local government and zone as at large.

I am particularly moved by His Excellency’s tireless efforts and his directive to double down on the construction pace to ensure completion by October this year. This visit showcases his steadfast zeal and his commitment to ensuring that development is felt in every corner of the state. As Nsukka zone is the highest beneficiary of this magnificent project, we see clearly the Governor’s love and desire for the progress of our people.

On behalf of Nsukka Local Government Area, I heartily thank His Excellency for his developmental strides, both completed and ongoing. We are proud to stand with a leader who is turning our shared dreams into reality.

Tomorrow is indeed here.

23/01/2026

Today, my heart is heavy with a grief that words can barely capture. I received the shocking and tragic news of the passing of Rt. Hon. Daniel Ugwu (Aloko), the Councilor representing the wonderful people of Nru Ward in our 16th Legislative Assembly.

As the Chairman of Nsukka Local Government, I didn't just see Daniel as a member of the Legislative arm; I saw him as a vital partner in the development of our land. He was a man of extraordinary peace: a "jolly good fellow" whose love for his constituents in Nru Ward was matched only by the kindness he showed to everyone he encountered.

The loss of such a vibrant, loving, and dedicated leader is a monumental tragedy for the entire Nsukka Local Government Council.

As a mark of profound respect for our departed Councilor and in solidarity with the grieving people of Nru Ward, I am suspending all community sensitization tours for the APC E-registration exercise scheduled for today, Friday, 23rd January 2026.

This is a moment for mourning and sober reflection for us all.

Aloko, your sudden exit is a shock we were not prepared for. It is devastatingly painful to realize that only yesterday, we spoke at length about Nru Ward's readiness to receive the Council’s sensitization team today. To think that you were working for your people just hours before your passing is a proof of your character, yet it makes your absence even harder to bear.

We submit to the will of the Almighty, but Nsukka has indeed lost a gem. You lived for peace, and we pray you find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.

On behalf of my family and the Nsukka Local Government Council, I extend my deepest condolences to the Ugwu family. We stand with you in this dark hour.

Rest in peace, Rt. Hon. Daniel Ugwu (Aloko).
