Governor Fintiri Constitutes State Government Delegation For 2026 Christian Pilgrimage To Israel

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has approved the constitution of the Government Delegation for the 2026 Christian Pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

The Committee is chaired by HRM Johnson Diyo Matalo, the Gubo Yungur.

Other members of the delegation are:
1. Senator Rev. Amos Yohanna
2. Hon. Japhet Hammajabu
3. Mr. Samuel Chinda
4. Rev. Father Anselm Kachalla
5. Dr. Bartholomew Nyalas – Secretary

Congratulating the delegation, Governor Fintiri charged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and patriotism in the discharge of their assignment.

"You have been chosen to represent the government and good people of Adamawa State. This is both an honour and a responsibility. I urge you to be good ambassadors of our dear state. Conduct yourselves with dignity and ensure the pilgrimage is hitch-free and purposeful," the Governor said.

He further advised the committee to work closely with the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission and other relevant authorities to ensure the welfare and safety of all pilgrims from Adamawa State.

The Governor called on members of the delegation to justify the confidence reposed in them by being transparent, accountable, and focused on the spiritual objectives of the pilgrimage.

Governor Fintiri reiterated the commitment of his administration to continue to support religious activities that promote peace, unity, and moral values in the state.

PRESS STATEMENT
I have received with deep sadness the disturbing report of the alleged shooting of Alhaji Suleiman Abubakar of Yelwa Ward in Mubi, which has left him receiving medical treatment at the Modibbo Adama Teaching Hospital.

This unfortunate incident is deeply concerning and deserves the attention of all who value the sanctity of human life. While our security personnel continue to make enormous sacrifices in the service of our nation, every engagement with members of the public must be guided by professionalism, restraint, and respect for human rights.

I therefore call on the appropriate security authorities to undertake a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident. Whatever the outcome of such an investigation, justice must not only be done but must also be seen to have been done.

Although I am currently outside the country on an official assignment, I have been fully briefed on the situation and have continued to follow developments with keen interest. My thoughts and prayers are with Alhaji Habu Sulaiman, his family, and all those affected by this unfortunate incident. I pray that Almighty God grants him complete healing and a speedy recovery.

As the Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, I will continue to advocate for the protection of the lives and dignity of our people while supporting every lawful effort aimed at strengthening public confidence in our security institutions. Our collective commitment must remain the preservation of peace, justice, and the rule of law.

SENATOR YOHANNA’S SILENT INFRASTRUCTURAL REVOLUTION IN ADAMAWA NORTH

As part of his commitment to improving the standard of education in Adamawa North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Amos K. Yohanna - RAY has commenced the construction of examination halls in selected secondary schools across the zone.

Ongoing Projects:
1. GDSS Kirchinga - Madagali LGA
2. GDSS Mijilu - Mubi North LGA
3. GDSS Sorau - Maiha LGA

The construction of these examination halls is aimed at providing students with a more conducive and dignified environment during examinations.

This initiative also complements the education-focused policies of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration by bridging critical infrastructure gaps in our schools.

BEYOND EDUCATION: WATER FOR THE PEOPLE

Senator Reverend Amos Kumai Yohanna's legacy will be remembered for generations to come.

As the Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, he has distinguished himself through selfless service, commitment to humanity, and quality representation. Within a short period in office, he has empowered many sons and daughters of Adamawa North through various empowerment programmes, supported youths in securing both federal and state government jobs, and provided financial assistance to young men and women to start businesses and become self-reliant.

Beyond empowerment, Senator Amos Yohanna has remained a compassionate leader who stands with his people during difficult times. He has offered support to individuals and families during sickness, bereavement, and other personal challenges that many could not overcome alone. His humanitarian service has touched countless lives across the senatorial district.

In the legislative arm, Senator Amos Yohanna sponsored the Public Infrastructure Maintenance Bill, 2025, aimed at improving the maintenance of public infrastructure in Nigeria. He also sponsored a motion calling for urgent humanitarian intervention following the devastating floods that affected Madagali, Maiha, Michika, Mubi North, and Mubi South Local Government Areas of Adamawa North. These efforts demonstrate his commitment to both national development and the welfare of his constituents.

Furthermore, he has facilitated opportunities for youths in the armed forces and security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Police, Civil Defence, and other government institutions. Through his leadership and accessibility, many people have found hope and opportunities for a better future.
