‎NSMVAA/VIO OFFICER'S ON OPERATION
‎
‎The attention of the Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (NSMVAA/VIO) has been drawn to a publication by *Capacity Media Trust* alleging that an officer of the Agency pushed a pregnant woman and her husband from a motorcycle in Minna, resulting in injuries.
‎
‎2. The Agency’s preliminary investigation revealed that the rider, after being unable to provide the relevant motorcycle documents( Rider's card & Papers) when requested from him, attempted to forcefully drive to run away from the scene. This action reportedly resulted in the motorcycle losing control and subsequently led to the accident.
‎
‎3. However, the Agency takes allegations of unethical conduct involving its personnel very seriously. The incident is therefore currently being investigated by the agency.
‎
‎4. NSMVAA/VIO remains committed to professionalism, discipline, road safety and the protection of all road users. Should the assessment establish that any officer acted outside the law or the Agency's approved operational procedures, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken. The Agency will continue to ensure that all complaints are handled fairly, responsibly and in accordance with due process.

The NSMVAA Zonal Commander, Lapai, today, 27th August 2026, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Lapai, at the Lapai Emirate Council. The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (NSMVAA) and the traditional institution.

During the visit, the Zonal Commander appreciated His Royal Highness for his support and goodwill towards the Agency. He also highlighted the importance of public awareness, proper vehicle registration, valid documentation, and ensuring that drivers are duly licensed and qualified to operate vehicles within the emirate.

The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss areas of mutual cooperation towards promoting road safety and compliance with motor vehicle laws and regulations. The Zonal Commander reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to carrying out its duties professionally and maintaining a cordial and productive relationship with the Lapai Emirate Council for the benefit of the people.

# NURTW Minna Chapter Pays Courtesy Visit to NSMVAA Headquarters #

The **National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Minna Chapter**, paid a courtesy visit to the **Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (NSMVAA) Headquarters** to strengthen the relationship and promote cooperation between the union and the agency.

Receiving the union, the Executive Director of NSMVAA, **Engr. Dr. Danladi M. Bako**, assured the union leadership of the agency’s commitment to good collaboration. He, however, urged union members to ensure that all their vehicles are duly registered and that their drivers are properly trained, tested, and licensed in accordance with the law.

The OC Operations of NSMVAA/VIO, Officer Mohammed U. Shettima, convened a strategic meeting with all Zonal Commanders and Station Officers today, 12th August 2026, at the Agency’s Headquarters.

During the meeting, the officers were introduced to tactical and intelligence-driven approaches to operations. Addressing the gathering, the OC Operations urged all Station Officers and Zonal Commanders to discharge their duties professionally and in strict compliance with the ethics, rules, and laid-down principles of the Agency.

In recognition of his outstanding performance and effective discharge of duties within his zone, a letter of recommendation was presented to the Suleja Zonal Commander.

NSMVAA Organises General Computer Training for its Staff

As part of its commitment to enhancing staff capacity and improving service delivery, the Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (NSMVAA) has commenced a general computer training programme for selected representatives from various departments of the Agency.

The training is designed to equip participants with practical computer knowledge and digital skills that will enhance workplace productivity, improve administrative efficiency, and support the effective discharge of their official responsibilities.

The training is facilitated by a staff member of the Niger State ICT Department who is currently posted to the Agency. Through practical sessions, participants are being equipped with the essential computer skills required for modern public service.

This initiative is one of the numerous efforts of the Executive Director of NSMVAA, Engr. Dr. Danladi Mohammed Bako, towards building staff capacity, promoting digital literacy, and enhancing the overall efficiency and service delivery of the Agency.

The Executive Members (EXCO) of the Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), Niger State Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the management of the Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (NSMVAA). The visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between both organizations and discussing areas of mutual interest, particularly in promoting compliance among motor dealers with the state's vehicle registration requirements. **O/C OPERATIONS REPRESENTATIVE SENSITIZES HIJECT DRIVERS IN MINNA**

The Officer-in-Charge (O/C) Operations, represented by the Second-in-Command (2IC) Operations, attended a lecture and sensitization programme organized for members of the Association of Hiject Drivers at the Building Materials Market, Minna.

The sensitization covered key road safety issues, including basic safety practices, the importance of periodic vehicle inspection, vehicle registration, and the need for every driver to possess a valid driver's licence. Participants were encouraged to comply with all traffic regulations to enhance safety on the roads.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Association expressed his appreciation to the management of the Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (NSMVAA) for organizing the sensitization programme. He urged the Agency to sustain such engagements, noting that they would continue to educate members of the association, promote compliance with traffic laws, and strengthen the existing synergy between the Association and the NSMVAA.

Today at the Vehicle Inspection Office, Zonal Command Minna 2, motorists with defective or outdated vehicle/ motorcycle documents were apprehended.
The motorists were strictly required to present their updated vehicle particulars,rider cards and proof of purchase receipts before being released.

The operation, led by team leaders, was conducted to maintain law and order on the roads and to ensure that motorists use their vehicles in accordance with State and Agency laws.

The Zonal Commander, Officer Nda Usman, however urged all motorists to always move around with photocopies of their updated vehicle particulars,riders card and proof of purchase in order to avoid disappointment and possible apprehension by officers on duty.

He further advised motorists to take photos of those documents on their phones to prevent damage or theft, as some motorists cited these as reasons for not carrying the original documents.
