⚡ Power Sector in Crisis! Tinubu to Meet Gencos Over ₦4 Trillion Electricity Debt

President Tinubu is set to meet with power-generating companies (Gencos) as the FG scrambles to prevent a collapse of Nigeria’s electricity supply chain.

The Gencos are owed over ₦4 trillion — ₦2tn for 2024 supply and ₦1.9tn legacy debt. Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has called it a national emergency, warning of a possible grid collapse if urgent steps aren’t taken.

FG plans to pay part in cash and settle the rest with promissory notes. Talks of tariff reforms and market liberalisation are also on the table.

🗣 “Without urgent intervention, the entire power ecosystem could collapse,” warned Gencos.

👉 What do you think, Chief? Is it time Nigerians paid full tariff or should FG continue subsidies?
