...THERE ARE ENEMIES AROUND ME
A brother and friend told me in October, 2016 that he has gotten a causal appointment with the state government. He was glad that the job even though was causal, it was helping him to manage his home in terms of feeding and school fees of the children. I was so happy for him knowing how much he has suffered looking for a job.
While I was still expressing my joy, he sadly said to me
"There are enemies around me. My office has a field vehicle attached to it but they don't want to release it, the people who were there before me wants me out of the office so they can put someone else. They said it shouldn't be me that just came in newly"
I took time to encourage him to be strong and of good courage but as we parted ways, I remember a Bible verse.
You prepared a meal for me in front of my enemies.
You welcomed me as an honored guest.
My cup is full and spilling over.
—Psalm 23:5
Many times I have heard people complain just like my brother did, they always say that the only challenge they have is the people around them; the enemies.
I have heard women complain that my husband is okay but his brothers are not given me rest.
A worker says, my boss is okay but my colleagues hate me. You can just remember several of these complains you have heard from several people yourself.
I have reasons to believe that many times, God deliberately set a table for us right in the presence of our enemies. Where no one thinks there will be any form of enjoyment, that is where He has placed you to enjoy. God may have placed you there to show people and even you that nothing is impossible for Him to do. Remember He can make rivers flow in the desert and roads run through the wilderness (Isaiah 43:19)
The Psalmist having understood the situation around him only gave this as one of the reasons to praise God. He even said his cup is filled and overflowing to show how prosperous he had become even in the presence of his enemies. You may have found yourself in such a situation at the moment, don't be discouraged as God may be out to prove to your enemies that their schemes holds no effect on your progress.
Stop complaining my brethren
Don't be distracted by the surrounding enemies
Focus on the table God has prepared for you
You cup shall surely overflow for others to benefit.
Surely, His goodness and mercy shall follow you...
Let us pray...
Dear father in heaven, thank You for the gift of your words today. May it have its full expression in my life and that of others who may read through it. Help me to focus on the table you have prepared instead of being distracted by the surrounding enemies. Enrich my days with Your goodness and help me to live my life obeying You, in Jesus Name.
Amen!
