DR. RAYMOND ANGER JOINS ZONE B SENATORIAL RACE
— Builds Bridges, Consults Widely Across the Zone and Beyond
As the political atmosphere continues to heat up ahead of the 2027 general elections, key political figures are already setting their sights on the next political dispensation. One of such figures is Dr. Raymond Torkuma Anger, a consultant chemist and distinguished alumnus of the defunct Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi—now Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu University.
Dr. Raymond Anger has formally declared his intention to contest for the Benue North-West Senatorial District (Zone B) seat in the forthcoming elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His political movement, tagged “Raypower 2027”, is rapidly gaining traction as he continues to consult and engage various groups, political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and opinion shapers across the zone and beyond—building bridges and consolidating alliances for a united and progressive Zone B.
The past few weeks have seen Dr. Anger embark on an extensive and meticulously planned series of consultations, engaging with a wide spectrum of stakeholders across the seven Local Government Areas of the zone. He has held high-level meetings with key political players, including former and serving officeholders, and has actively sought the counsel and blessing of Party leaders at ward, local government, and state levels. Crucially, his campaign has prioritized direct engagement with significant groups such as market women associations, youth forums, trade unions, and traditional rulers, ensuring that his proposed legislative mandate is a true reflection of the people's needs and aspirations, thereby building a broad-based, inclusive coalition.
Dr. Anger brings to the race a wealth of experience from both the public and development sectors. He previously worked closely with the immediate past Vice President of Nigeria in the area of social investment and currently holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry. He also serves as a Consultant with Bloom Public Health on their vaccine initiative.
In addition, Dr. Anger is actively involved in international scientific and professional bodies. He is a Consultant on the African Vaccine Academy, and a member of several prestigious organizations including the Chemistry Society of Nigeria (CSN), the Royal Society of Chemists (UK), the German Society of Chemists, and FINSKA, Helsinki.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Anger emphasized the essence of his senatorial ambition:
> “It is time for leadership that thinks critically, acts ethically, and puts people over politics. The time is now.”
His entry into the race has been described by political observers as a fresh breath of intellect, innovation, and integrity—qualities that could redefine leadership in Benue Zone B.
