The Ministry of Budget and Planning was curved out of the Ministry of Finance, Budget & Economic Planning on the 10th August, 2023. This came about as a result Government's commitment not only to streamline administrative functions but to empower specialized agencies for effective service delivery and accountability while executing state priorities and policies.

The upgrading of the Department of Budget and panning to a Ministry is also aimed at infiltrating precision, accountability and thorough oversight into the substance of our developmental journey.

One of the Ministry's core mandates, is the responsibility of not only tracking the implementation of the 25-years State Development Plan (SDP) but also the preparing a periodic review of the SDP on the short - term and mid - term period to help inform how far we have achieved our aspirations.
