BAMA LGA CHAIRMAN APPROVES REPAIRS OF TWO BOREHOLES, ONE HAND PUMP, DONATES CHOLERA SUPPLIES TO NEWLY RESETTLED DAR-EL-JAMAL COMMUNITY

The Executive Chairman of Bama Local Government Area, Hon. Babagana Barma Bagados has visited the newly resettled Dar-El-Jamal community, where he approved the repair of two boreholes and one hand pump. He also donated medicines and other essential medical supplies to the community clinic.

The interventions are aimed at improving access to clean and safe drinking water while ensuring that residents have easier access to essential medicines and basic healthcare services, particularly in the wake of cholera concerns.

During the visit, the Executive Chairman also distributed cash to security personnel and members of the community as part of efforts to provide immediate support and alleviate some of the challenges faced by the newly resettled residents.

The people of Dar-El-Jamal expressed their profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman for his tireless efforts and continued commitment to improving the welfare of the community. They prayed for Allah to bless him, protect him from his enemies, and grant success to his administration.

BAMA LGA CHAIRMAN ATTENDS ALLAMIN FOUNDATION/UNDP START-UP KITS DISTRIBUTION TO 240 BENEFICIARIES IN BAMA

The Executive Chairman of Bama Local Government Area, Hon Babagana Barma Bagados, attended the distribution of start-up kits to 240 beneficiaries under the Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The event took place at the Abba Gana Terab Secretariat Complex in Bama.

In his remarks, Hon. Babagana Barma Bagados commended the Allamin Foundation and UNDP for their continued commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the community through poverty reduction and sustainable livelihood initiatives. He noted that the programme would not only empower beneficiaries economically but also support the reintegration of those who have returned from the insurgency-affected areas.

The Chairman congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to make proper use of the start-up kits to improve their livelihoods rather than selling them. He warned that anyone found attempting to sell the items, or anyone purchasing them, would face legal action in accordance with the law.

BAMA LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL CHAIRMAN TOURS TOWNSHIP AFTER IDP CAMP CLOSURE, WARNS AGAINST NEW INFORMAL CAMPS

The Executive Chairman of Bama Local Government Area, Hon Babagana Barma Bagados, on Tuesday led an assessment tour of Bama township following the official closure of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp about two weeks ago.

The Chairman was accompanied by the Member representing Bama Central in the Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Baba Mala Bukar Sunoma; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Baba Gana Yusuf Banki; APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Baba Kura Alh. Bukar Sisco; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Hon. Baffa Saleh Gaya; District Heads of Abbaram and New Bama, Abba Masta Shehu Kyari, Personal Assistant Ahmed Ngalama, Chief of Staff, Baba Gana Abdurrahman; community stakeholder Hon. Zanna Gaddama; Special Assistant on Special Duties, Muhammad Alh. Bukar; Adviser on Religious Affairs, Mohammed Umar (Gausu Bama); as well as Lawans, Bulamas, and other government officials.

The tour was aimed at assessing the condition of displaced persons who remained in Bama township after the camp closure.

During engagements with residents, Hon. Barma directed Bulamas and community leaders not to permit the establishment of new informal IDP camps or makeshift tents within their communities.

He also met with displaced persons who had erected temporary shelters on vacant land due to lack of permanent accommodation. The Chairman urged them to relocate to designated resettlement communities such as Abbaram, Goniri, and other newly resettled areas, assuring them that government would support the relocation and resettlement process.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment, Hon. Barma said every effort is being made to guarantee the welfare of displaced persons and provide them with safe and dignified places to live.

Governor Zulum Officially Closes GSSSS IDP Camp in Bama Following Successful Resettlement of Displaced Communities
Bama, Borno State – June 25, 2026

The Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has officially closed the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSSS) Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Bama following the successful resettlement of displaced persons to their ancestral communities.

The official closure ceremony, held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, marked a significant milestone in the Borno State Government's ongoing efforts to restore normalcy, rebuild communities, and support the safe return of displaced populations affected by insurgency.

Representing Governor Zulum at the event were the Director-General of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Executive Chairman of Bama Local Government Area, Hon. Babagana Barma, the Chairman of the Resettlement Committee, Hon. Engr. Bukar Talba, and other government officials.

The resettlement exercise, which lasted six days, facilitated the return of residents to several communities, including Goniri, Mayinti, Tarmua, Bulakuliye, Abbaram, Jaudiri, and Dar-El-Jamal. With the successful completion of the exercise, the GSSSS IDP Camp has now been formally closed.

To support the returning families and ease their reintegration into their communities, Governor Zulum approved a comprehensive resettlement assistance package. Each household received ₦50,000 in cash, while women beneficiaries received ₦25,000 each. In addition, beneficiaries were provided with 25 kilograms of rice, 25 kilograms of maize, five yards of cotton fabric, one additional piece of fabric, and a mattress.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Executive Chairman of Bama Local Government Area, Hon. Babagana Barma, commended Governor Zulum for his unwavering commitment to restoring displaced communities and improving the welfare of citizens across the state. He called on residents to continue praying for lasting peace, stability, and sustainable development in their communities and throughout Borno State.

Community representatives expressed profound appreciation to Governor Zulum and the Bama Local Government Council for the successful resettlement initiative. They also acknowledged the dedication and leadership of the Chairman of the Resettlement Committee, Hon. Engr. Bukar Talba, whose supervision contributed significantly to the success of the exercise.

In a display of gratitude and celebration, children from the resettled communities performed songs welcoming their return home and expressing appreciation to the government, community leaders, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the resettlement programme.

The closure of the GSSSS IDP Camp represents another important achievement in the Borno State Government's commitment to durable solutions for internally displaced persons and the restoration of peace, security, and livelihoods across affected communities.

On behalf of the entire Dar El-Jamal community, we extend our sincere appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, MNI, FSNE, GCON, Khadimul Umma_, for commencing the second phase of resettlement in our community.

This resettlement comes at the right time as the farming season begins. Dar El-Jamal is an agrarian community where residents cultivate millet, beans, and sorghum as their primary source of livelihood.

We also commend the Honourable Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Engr. Bukar Talba; the Director General of SEMA and his team; Party Chairman Hon. Babakura Alhaji Bukar (Sisco); and Senior Special Assistant Hon. Baffa Saleh Gaya for their commitment and support throughout the process.

BAMA LGA CHAIRMAN ATTENDS BAMA UNITED VS GWOZA UNITED FRIENDLY TO BOOST INTER-LGA UNITY

The Executive Chairman of Bama Local Government Council, Hon. Babagana Barma Bagados, this evening attended a friendly football match between Bama United and Gwoza United in Bama.

Organized to strengthen unity and foster goodwill between Bama and Gwoza Local Government Areas, the match drew a lively crowd of residents, supporters, and officials from both LGAs.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Bagados commended the teams for their sportsmanship and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to using sports as a tool for peace-building, youth engagement, and inter-community cooperation.

Chairman-Elect of Bama Local Government, Hon Babagana Barma Bagados, Revalidates His APC Membership

In a resounding demonstration of commitment and leadership, the Chairman-Elect of Bama Local Government, Hon. Babagana Barma (Bagados), has officially revalidated his membership with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Acting in accordance with the directive of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Engr. Babagana Umara Zulum, FNSE, Hon. Babagana Barma undertook this important civic duty at his home base in Dar-Jamal Ward.

In his remarks, the Chairman-Elect stated: “This act underscores the foundational principle that our collective strength begins with individual participation. Yesterday, the chairmanship candidate of Bama Local Government Council, Hon Babagana Barma Bagados , and Hon Babagana Isa Ferobe (Soja), joined the party leader to receive the decampise from PDP to APC. In their welcome address, the party chairman Hon Babakura Alh. Bukar (Sisco)and party secretary Zanna Ali Lawan, called on the newly decamped members, saying they are now full members of APC and urged them to maintain their unity and experience in the party.

Abba Kyari, leader of the decampise, said they decamped from PDP to APC because of HE Prof Babagana Zulum's support for Bama Local Government and Borno State. They're ready to support this administration. Other members include state youth leader, Bama LG youth leader, women leader, Asst women leader, ward chairmen, and ward exco's.
