KGIRS UNVEILS NEW SERVICE POLICY, PAVES WAY FOR A NEW ORDER OF STAFF MANAGEMENT
By Muhammad Mukhtar Idris.
The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has taken a major step towards enhancing its operations and Staff welfare with the unveiling of its Service Policy. The policy, signed into law by Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, provides a framework for Staff regulation, appointment, promotion, discipline, and termination, among other aspects.
The Executive Chairman of the Service, Sule Salihu Enehe, PhD, described the unveiling as a significant milestone, noting that the Service gets to operate independently without relying on the Public Service Rule.
According to Dr. Enehe, "the Service now has its own regulations and policies. We will no longer refer to the Public Service Rule because there are now rules that will guide the Service."
Dr. Enehe, while urging the Staff to work to generate a robust revenue, hinted that one of the aspects of the policy is "responsibility allowance". He further buttressed that such allowance, for example, can only be implemented when the Service achieves a monthly revenue target of 5 billion naira, emphasising the need for continuous improvement and hard work.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Rahman Nasir Ichanyi, PhD, praised His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, for his prompt action, and commended the Executive Chairman of the Revenue Service, Sule Salihu Enehe, PhD, along with his supportive Directors for their visionary leadership,
Earlier, the Director of Administration and ICT, Alex Akande, and the Director of Income Tax, Emmanuel Yusufu, in their separate remarks, appreciated the Governor and the driving will of the Executive Chairman to bring the long-anticipated dream of the Staff to reality while hinting that the policy contains certain rewards.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by senior Staff and Directors, who hailed the Executive Chairman's efforts in making the Service Policy a reality.
