When I got my first period, I thought I was bleeding to death.
No one had explained what was happening just silence and shame.
Now as a mum, I choose a different path.
Before we talk about pads or cramps, I teach my kids body safety.
Because when their bodies start changing, they also become more vulnerable.
Here’s what I teach them before every family visit:
✅ No forced hugs
✅ No touching private parts
✅ Tell me if someone says “don’t tell”
✅ Your body, your rules.
We also practise spotting unsafe behaviour:
🚩 Secrets
🚩 Isolation
🚩 Ignoring boundaries
🚩 Bribes
This isn’t about fear it’s about freedom through awareness.
Start the conversation. Your child’s first period should come with confidence, not confusion.
👉 Share this with a mum, save for later, and send to the family group chat.
Your words could change a child’s life.
