The Registrar/CEO of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Mr. Kingsley Igwe, alongside the Management and Staff of the Council, on Monday, 25th May 2026, warmly received the President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu, and members of the Union’s Executive Council during a courtesy visit to the Council’s Headquarters in Lagos.

The strategic engagement focused on deepening institutional collaboration, improving workers’ welfare, and advancing ongoing reforms within the maritime and freight forwarding sector.

During the meeting, Mr. Kingsley Igwe highlighted key achievements of the Council, including digital transformation and process automation, licensing and registration of freight forwarders, capacity development programmes, and dispute resolution mechanisms aimed at enhancing professionalism and operational efficiency across the industry.

Major issues discussed included:
• Salary increment for staff
• Improved conditions of service
• Enhanced welfare packages

Speaking during the visit, Comrade Francis Bunu commended the CRFFN Management for its reform-driven initiatives and reaffirmed MWUN’s commitment to supporting policies and programmes that will strengthen trade facilitation, industrial harmony, and the growth of the maritime sector.

The meeting concluded with both CRFFN and MWUN reaffirming their commitment to sustained partnership, mutual cooperation, and collective progress for the benefit of maritime workers and the Nigerian maritime industry at large.

The International Civil Service Conference 2026, held at the Eagle Square, Abuja, on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st May 2026, brought together policymakers, public servants, and stakeholders from across the globe to discuss the future of public administration and service delivery.

With the theme “Reforms, Resilience and Results,” the conference attracted over 5,000 delegates from 16 countries and focused on reforms, innovation, digital transformation, and capacity building within the civil service.

The event was declared open by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) was represented by its Registrar/CEO, Mr. Kingsley Igwe FCILT, alongside members of management and staff, who actively participated in the conference sessions, workshops, and strategic engagements.

The conference served as an avenue for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strengthening partnerships geared towards improving governance, efficiency, and impactful public service delivery.

The Lagos Ports Corridor Clean-Up and Enforcement Exercise, held on 14th & 15th May 2026, brought together key stakeholders committed to improving operations along the Apapa and Tin Can Island port corridors.

Led through the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) and the Ports and Customs Efficiency Committee (PCEC), the exercise had active participation from the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), represented by Registrar/CEO Kingsley Igwe, alongside Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu , DG PEBEC and other relevant stakeholders.

A unified push toward cleaner corridors, stronger compliance, smoother cargo movement, and improved port efficiency—reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to ease of doing business and trade facilitation.

As part of its mandate to strengthen professional standards and capacity within Nigeria’s freight forwarding and logistics sector, the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, in Port Harcourt, entered into a partnership with the Institute of Export Operations and Management (IEOM) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The collaboration will enhance capacity building, improve industry standards, and promote continuous professional development across the freight forwarding and international trade value chain.

CRFFN and IEOM reaffirm their commitment to a more competent, compliant, and globally competitive industry.

Mr. Kingsley Igwe, FCILT, Registrar/CEO of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), spoke at the 6th Edition of the JournalNG Port Industry Town Hall Meeting held in Lagos on April 24, 2026, where he highlighted the urgent need for Nigeria to accelerate the adoption of smart port systems.

He noted that the full integration of smart technologies across Nigeria’s ports could reduce overall port and logistics costs by up to 14%, while increasing operational efficiency by as much as 40%.

This transformation goes beyond modernization. It is a strategic imperative for enhancing Nigeria’s global maritime competitiveness, strengthening transparency, and driving sustainable growth across the port and logistics ecosystem.

The future of port operations is anchored in digitalization, automation, and data-driven decision-making. Nigeria must therefore make deliberate investments in smart infrastructure and align with international best practices to unlock the immense potential of its maritime sector.

(𝐅𝐂𝐈𝐋𝐓), delivered the keynote address at the Nigeria-British Chamber of Commerce Maritime & Logistics Stakeholders Engagement

Speaking on the theme “𝑼𝒏𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂’𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 & 𝑳𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝑷𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒕𝒉" he emphasized the need for enhanced port efficiency, stronger regulatory coordination, and effective trade facilitation reforms, while highlighting the pivotal role of freight forwarding in driving seamless trade operations and economic growth.

At the commissioning of the NIMASA-donated Multipurpose Building at the University of Lagos Institute of Maritime Studies, 𝗜𝗴𝘄𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗢 (𝗙𝗖𝗜𝗟𝗧), 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗿/𝗖𝗘𝗢, 𝗖𝗥𝗙𝗙𝗡, joined key stakeholders in advancing Nigeria’s maritime future.

The facility, commissioned by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola (CON), is equipped with state-of-the-art learning and research infrastructure aimed at strengthening capacity development in the maritime sector.

The event reinforces a bold commitment to unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s blue economy.

The Management of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), led by the Registrar/CEO, Igwe Kingsley O. (FCILT) paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Barr Sam Atuzie Nwakohu, who served as Registrar/CEO of the Council from 2019 to 2023.

The visit was a mark of honour, respect, and institutional solidarity, as the leadership of the Council extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

The Registrar/CEO acknowledged the late Barr. Sam Nwakohu’s dedicated service and significant contributions to the growth and development of the freight forwarding profession in Nigeria.

The Council stands united with the family in this period of mourning, offering prayers for comfort and strength while honouring the legacy of a distinguished leader whose impact will be remembered.
