IFAKO-IJAIYE LG HOLDS MONTHLY ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO A CLEANER ENVIRONMENT
Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government today conducted its Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise across various communities within the Local Government Area, reaffirming its commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health. The exercise was led by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Akerele, today represented the Executive Chairman, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), alongside management staff and other council officials.
The exercise, which took place between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., involved the clearing of refuse, desilting of drainage channels, and cleaning of streets and public spaces. Council officials also moved round key areas within the Local Government to monitor compliance and encourage active participation by residents and traders.
Speaking during the exercise, the Vice Chairman emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment as a collective responsibility. She urged residents to cultivate proper waste disposal habits and ensure that their surroundings remain clean at all times in order to prevent environmental hazards and promote healthy living.
She further reiterated the commitment of the administration of Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH) to environmental sustainability and community development. The Local Government expressed appreciation to residents who participated in the exercise and encouraged continued support towards building a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful Ifako-Ijaiye.
