A CITY SET ON THE Hill...
Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Jesus declares, "You are the light of the world," which is not just a command, but a statement of identity for the Believer. It is the Light that gives the city visibility especially at night time, when it is dark.
The purpose of light is to give direction by making it possible to see. At night, a city on a hill shines its light in all directions from an elevated position. We have been raised up together to sit with Jesus in heavenly places, Ephesians 2v5-6. Our position is not ordinary, It is a position of power. That is why as a believer, you radiate the glory of the Father, no one can touch or take your glory. You are operating from a realm where Satan or his cohorts can not operate in. It takes power to be set on the hill and that power, you received when you gave your life to the Lord Jesus and also your position changed, you were raised up.
Believers are called to be the light of the world, functioning as a "city set on a hill" that cannot be hidden. This metaphor indicates
1. A believer should be visible and purposeful in life, there is a reason for the light you carry, it is to reflect Christ's light—guiding others and demonstrating good works to glorify God rather than hiding your faith. When you allow your light to dim, darkness begin to lurk around and encroach. But the brighter your light shines, the farther darkness will be.
When we talk about visibility or when you are visible, the enemy notices you easily and attacks you, that is why God empowered you through His Word to be protected, courageous and ordacious. Ephesians 6v10-18
Believers should be a visible Witnesses,
just as a city built on a hill is visible from miles away, Christians are meant to stand out in the market place, neighbourhood, community and nation through their conduct and faith in a dark world. Shine your light, don't hide it. Fear not.
A city without light is a dead town and a believer without the Lord Jesus (The Light) is a walking co**se and full of darkness. Your light is what gives meaning to your life, your neighbourhood, community and nation. Without the Lord Jesus, your life will be meaningless. A believer that is born again, filled with the Holy Spirit and daily loads his spirit with God's Word, will stay relevant, visible, can not be hidden, he is protected and can not be ignored.
I pray that you become more aware of your Identity in Christ Jesus and the extraordinary position you occupy in the realm of the spirit. The knowledge you get from daily priscription of the Word of God will deliver you from hiding in the valley of Iife and will free you from all kinds of fear,
and you will begin to enjoy mountain top victories in Jesus name. Shalom and Maranatha, Hallelujah!!!!!
