*FKJ Legislative News: At The Plenary*

On Tuesday, 11th of July, 2023, after leading the opening prayer and the National Pledge, the Leader of the House, *Hon. (Dr) Onifade Victor* welcomes everyone for a peaceful deliberation.

The plenary was in accordance with proceedings of the house as PSP stakeholders and community representatives were invited to furnish the house with necessary update concerning their respective operations to the good people of Ifako Ijaiye LGA.

In attendance were Directors of PSP in each wards which are : Mid - Royals Global Services (Ward C2), Majesty Waste Control (Ward F), Ades Temitobi Limited (Ward F), Dejule Ventures (Ward B & D), Fountain Multiple (Ward D), Ashibay Limited (Ward E), Vestige Waste Service (Ward C1), Akinjohun Services (Ward C1), Owakewumi (Ward A); also in attendance were the CDA Chairman and the Secretary, Pastor Opajobi Samuel and Alh. A.A. Bilesanmi and HOD Environment. They are availed themselves for participatory and result oriented deliberations for the good people of Ifako-Ijaiye.

Hence, the house resolved that;
1. Each household should get a iron drum or the plastic drum with a cover as a means to keep their refuse safe in their apartments in order to ease the work of PSP workers and residents should stop patronizing the walkway pushers (Cart pushers) who are illegal operators according to Lagos State law and they are creating more havoc to the inhabitants of Ifako Ijaiye.

2. Some of the PSP directors are hereby placed on observation under the watch of their respective ward Councillors, Head of Environment and the CDA chairman for a better service to the good people of Ifako Ijaiye.

3. The PSP operators were directed to discharge their duties efficiently in accordance to the official agreement stated in their contract of at least, three (3) times monthly appearance across all wards in Ifako Ijaiye.

4. The Operators registered their plights concerning the non compliance of certain selected areas in few wards to pay their dues as well as patronising their services as required by the law of the land in Lagos state.

Secondly, in line with invitation to the hallowed Chamber, *Mr Akeem Adesanya, the New Council Manager* was at the last plenary.
Upon his transfer to Ifako Ijaiye Local Government, as Council Manager, *Mr Akeem Adesanya* has served in the capacity of a council manager at Oto-Awori, Amuwo-Odofin, Surulere and Okokomaiko LGAs respectively.

The Legislators opined that he is capable beyond reasonable doubt with his wealth of experience and exposure, and believe he will ensure the *Internal General Revenue (IGR)* of Ifako Ijaiye has a new shape.

Also, the Council Manager promised to partner with the Legislators in delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Ifako-Ijaiye under the administration ably led by *Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH).*

The house promised to give their maximum supports for efficient work flow and service delivery.

The plenary was adjourned by Hon. Olaleye Rasak Aremu (Majority Leader) and seconded by Hon. Adebo Samuel Kayode (Minority Leader) till next week Tuesday, 18th of July, 2023.

*IN THE NEWS: IFAKO IJAIYE LEGISLATORS ON AN OVERSIGHT FUNCTION*

_Visit State and Local Government Projects_

Legislative oversight is a tool used by the Legislative Arm to perform its role of checks and balances in a democracy and involves keeping an eye on the activities of Government with the sole aim of informing the public as well as correcting ills in Governance.

This process embarked on by the Legislative Arm of government in Ifako-Ijaiye, brings to the knowledge of the public what the Executive Arm is doing and affords the inhabitants of Ifako Ijaiye the opportunity to determine whether public servants are really serving their collective interest or not.

The Leader of the House, *Hon. (Dr) Victor Onifade* and his colleagues in the Legislative Arm, had their first stopover at the Mini Sport Complex.
In hand to receive the Leader and his colleagues on site is *Engineer John Oligo* who is in charge of the construction of Mini Sport Complex which is ongoing at Iju Ogundimu in Ward F.

In his Statement, " By the grace of God the site will be in perfection in less than seven (7) months to this time as you can see that work is in rapid progress " He said.

*Hon. Onifade* and his colleagues in the Legislative Arm equally inspect the damage Culvert at Kayode / Modupe street in Ward F and Obawole Bridge in Ward D.

Also, they had a stopover at the ongoing project at Omomo and Olufemi Ogunsola Street in Ward C1, Community Borehole at Ashaye Street in Ward D and Olufemi Ogunsola Street in C1 respectively.

" I will want to appreciate our member in the Lagos State House of Assembly, *Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji (ATA)* and the Executive Chairman, *Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH)* for another facelift in Ifako Ijaiye.

" Conclusively, residents of Ifako Ijaiye are eager to benefit from more dividends of democracy " He said.

*LEGISLATIVE NEWS*: Plenary proceedings of Ifako Ijaiye Legislative Arm for Tuesday, 15th November, 2022.

The Plenary Session on Tuesday, 15th of November, 2022 presided by Leader of the House, *Hon. Victor Onifade*, observed a one minute silence for *Mr Shola Ajibose* who kicked the bucket few days ago who before his death was a _former Supervisor for Works in the Local Government_. It is our prayer that Heaven rests his soul, _Amen_.

In the same Vien, the Leader of the House and his colleagues met with Ifako Ijaiye APC Party Chairman, Deacon Banjo Omole and presented banners with the inscription and photo credits of Candidates of the Party contesting in their various lofty aspiration.

The Council Leader in his words said "we have done this to attest that we are in full support of all candidates of our great party - APC at all levels.
It is on this note that we're appealing to all residents of Ifako-Ijaiye to vote in our Party Candidates at all levels in the forthcoming general elections to enable greater representation and continued enjoyment of dividends of democracy".

The APC Party Chairman, Dcn Banjo Omole appreciated their kind gesture and strong will towards the success of the forthcoming election.

*IFAKO-IJAIYE LEGISLATIVE ARM: HODs and HOUs BUDGET PERFORMANCE REVIEW 2022*

Plenary Sessions held on Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th of October 2022 in the Hallowed Chamber hosted the presentation of Budget Performance by all Heads of Department (HODs) and Heads of Unit(HOUs).

In the course of their presentation of budget performance, the Legislators keenly checked and balanced all necessary.
This is done in earnest so as to salvage a delay when Budget Reordering sets in.

The Council Leader, Hon Victor Onifade commended the HODs and HOUs where necessary and equally pinpointed few notable errors and proffered solutions.
He said "this act is not to witch-hunt anyone. However, fostering the peaceful co-existence between the Public Servants and Civil Servants for the betterment of Ifako-Ijaiye LGA remains our utmost priority".

The Acting Council Manager, Mrs Ogungbo Alimi on behalf of all HODs and HOUs appreciated the Legislators and affirm that there will be massive improvement in discharging their respective duties according to the budget.
