"I've always believed in God, but during this turmoil, it felt like God had abandoned me. I came to find out and realize that God didn't abandon me; I walked away from Him.
It took my pastor, support from my family friends and OSFCSA to help me get to where I am. I still have a ways to go, and I'm not going to stop until I get there." – Anonymous (age 37)
Afraid, alone, anxious, depressed, misunderstood — these are some of the common feelings among survivors of abuse. The abuser's tactics have a significant and long-lasting effect on their victims, leading to fear, depression, feelings of worthlessness, physical health and mental problems.
But there is hope for you in God. Understanding that God is for you, loves you, and wants to protect you, will help you see how precious you are in His sight. God's word is full of comfort, direction, reassurance, and healing for survivors.
He did give you the strength to get through it. It's true you suffered, and at times it seemed no one would ever help and that it would never end.
But God always had a plan for your life. He has redeemed you. He has taken what Satan meant for harm and turned it into something good (see Romans 8:28).
God can and still Heals and will Restore You!
There is nothing is too hard for God to do. And no matter what you've been through or how bad you hurt, there is hope!
Don't give up! Don't give in!
Together, We Win.
