NASoW Lagos at the EAP Summit 2026

The Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW), Lagos State Chapter, was proudly represented at the EAP Summit 2026, themed “Employee Wellness: Our Employees Are Our Greatest Asset.”

The summit provided valuable insights into workplace wellness, Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), leadership, mental wellbeing, organizational culture, and the future of work. It also created an opportunity to network with professionals from different sectors committed to promoting healthier and more productive workplaces.

SWSD 2026 Conference Comes to a Successful Close 🌍🇰🇪

The past four days have been an incredible journey of learning, collaboration, professional networking, and the exchange of ideas at the Joint Conference on Social Work, Education and Social Development (SWSD 2026) in Nairobi, Kenya.

As the conference draws to a close, we celebrate the invaluable knowledge shared, the global partnerships formed, and the renewed commitment to advancing social work practice and social development across the world.

The Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW), Lagos Chapter, sincerely appreciates our National President, Alhaji Mustapha Moshood Mustapha Mashood and our Lagos State Chairperson, Dr. Modupeola Sahid-Adebambo Dr. Modupeola Sahid-Adebambo for their exemplary leadership and commitment in representing Nigeria and NASoW at this prestigious global gathering. The second day of the Joint Conference on Social Work, Education and Social Development (SWSD 2026) continued with enriching discussions, knowledge exchange, and global collaboration among social work professionals from across the world.

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING

Theme: “The World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses.”

Today, the Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW), Lagos Chapter, joins the global community in raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Drug abuse continues to threaten the health, safety, and future of individuals, families, and communities. It fuels violence, crime, poor mental health, family breakdown, school dropout, and loss of productivity. As new substances emerge and drug trafficking methods evolve, our response must also become more innovative, collaborative, and people-centered.

As social workers, we recognize that behind every substance use challenge is a human story. Prevention, early intervention, treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration are far more effective when they are built on compassion, professional support, and community involvement rather than stigma.

On this important day, NASoW Lagos calls on:

The Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW), Lagos State Chapter, successfully held its Second Quarter General Members Meeting, bringing together registered social workers to strengthen professional collaboration, promote continuous learning, and advance the practice of social work in Lagos State.
The meeting was held on the 16th June 2026.

A major highlight of the meeting was an insightful training session facilitated by Madam Nimota Raji Gambari, who spoke extensively on Self - Care, self-awareness and the importance of meditation in promoting emotional well-being, reducing stress, and enhancing professional effectiveness. She emphasized that social workers, who daily support vulnerable individuals and families, must also prioritize their own mental and emotional wellness.

The session was followed by a practical meditation exercise, where members actively participated and experienced simple mindfulness techniques that can be incorporated into their daily lives and professional practice. The interactive session was both engaging and refreshing, leaving participants with practical tools for self-care and resilience.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for members to network, share professional experiences, and reaffirm their commitment to upholding the values and ethics of the social work profession.

NASoW Lagos State remains committed to empowering social workers through continuous professional development, capacity building, and initiatives that promote excellence in service to humanity.
