*PRESS STATEMENT*

*PDP KANO REMAINS UNITED UNDER ENGR. BELLO GAMBO BICHI, PhD: INEC DISREGARDS TURAKI FACTION PRIMARIES AS ILLEGAL AND VOID*

Kano, Nigeria:
The Kano State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to notify party members, the general public, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the purported governorship primary election organized by the Tanimu Turaki-led faction is null, void, and of no electoral consequence.

*Key Facts:*

1. *INEC Boycott*: The exercise was conducted without the presence or monitoring of INEC officials, rendering it illegal under Sections 82(1) and 84 of the Electoral Act 2022.
2. *Poor Turnout*: The event suffered a conspicuous lack of delegates and party members, exposing it as a fringe gathering without grassroots legitimacy.
3. *No Legal Standing*: No candidate can emerge from an unsupervised primary. Therefore, all claims or nominations arising from the Turaki faction’s exercise are hereby declared futile and non-binding on the PDP.

In contrast, the only lawful governorship primary in Kano State was conducted by the PDP leadership duly recognized by INEC and affirmed by subsisting judicial pronouncements. That credible process, monitored by INEC and attended by accredited delegates from all 44 Local Government Areas, produced *Amb. Muhammad Bello Dalhat* as the authentic PDP gubernatorial candidate for Kano State.

For the avoidance of doubt, the same nullity applies to all parallel primaries allegedly held by the Turaki faction for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats. None are recognized by the Party or by INEC.

The PDP in Kano is one. There is only one recognized leadership structure under *Engr. Bello Gambo Bichi, PhD,* Chairman of the duly constituted State Executive Committee. There is only one set of valid candidates emanating from primaries conducted in line with the PDP Constitution, Electoral Act, and INEC guidelines.

We therefore urge party faithful, supporters, the media, and the general public to disregard any list of candidates, nomination claims, or propaganda from unauthorized groups seeking to mislead the public and create confusion.

As we consolidate for the 2027 General Elections, the Kano PDP remains united, focused, and resolute in offering credible leadership and a viable alternative for the good people of Kano State.

All loyal members are enjoined to close ranks, ignore distractions, and reject surrogate political dramas orchestrated to derail our collective progress.

CONCLUSIONS OF THE 101ST MEETING OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC)

1. NEC approved the results of all recently conducted primaries for State Houses of Assembly, the National Assembly, State Governors, and the Presidential elections; except those with pending appeals as at May 29, 2026, and those yet to be concluded.

2. NEC approved the extension of the tenure of the National Working Committee (NWC) for a period of 12 months from the expiry of their current tenure.

3. NEC approved the constitution of the Caretaker Committees at the Zonal, State, Local Government and Wards for a period of 12 months.

4. The NEC recognises Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai as a prisoner of conscience and calls for his immediate release.
