The Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), in its routine monitoring and supervision of private health fagcilities in the state, raided Wailari quarters in Kumbotso LGA off Zaria road and closed P & P Hospital that was found to be operating without registration and this contravenes the PHIMA Laws and operational guidelines respectively.

The Hospital was initially registered with the Agency at Badawa area about 5 years back but the proprietor decided to close it down for reasons best known to him. PHIMA during its routine supervision discovered that the proprietor has re opened the facility at a different location at wailari quarters, Zaria Road and was operating for months without registration. The facility has been closed down and appropriate actions will be taken by the agency to ensure good delivery of health care services to the good people of Kano ranging from full registration , adequate and appropriate manpower, hospital equipments and good sanitation in the facility.

The Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Dr. Usman Tijjani Aliyu, in its effort and campaign against quakery and to ensure quality health care service delivery in Kano state, has closed down 1 patent medicine store called ESMERALDA PAC- PHARM MEDICALS situated at Kwanar Tudun Wada in Nassarawa LGA. The erring Patent Medical store was found to be conducting clinical activities, a patient was receiving blood transfusion inside the medicine store which is quackery according to the laws and guidelines of PHIMA.

Moreover, the Agency, raided and shut down 2 illegal Medical Laboratories named Alkhairat Laboratory and Emsabil (annex) Laboratory at Bichi Town near Kafar Gari and Madinka quarters. The two laboratories were operating illegally without registration with the Agency (PHIMA).

Besides, two Diagnostic centers: Al- umma scanning centre and M & M scaning centre also at Bichi Town were temporarily closed for allegedly mismanaging pateints.

All the affected facilities shall remain closed and shall be sanctioned appropriately by the Agency.
