KANO STATE GOVERNMENT IS RECRUITING MEDICAL DOCTORS

07/03/2023

FAREWELL

Assalamu Alaikum,

This is to inform you that my mother ministry, Ministry of Information, has posted me out from the HMB to the SMOH as information officer.

Let me, from onset, thank Allah, the Almighty, Who, in His immense Wisdom, destined me to stay in the HMB for almost four years (16 June 2019 27 March 2023) managing its PR Unit.

I must confess that my posting to the Board has been a huge blessing to me because it serves as a training ground for me ever forget. When the posting was out, I was scared for two reasons.

Firstly, the gentle-woman I replaced, Bintu Nuhu Yakasai, she was the deputy director then (now the present Director Public Enlightenment of the Office of the Head of Service). On the other hand, I was a growing information officer on GL10. By this, one will not hesitate to believe that it will appear very difficult for me to tip the toes of someone who was above me by far and expect me to perform well.

Secondly, the caliber of people I will work with. I know HMB is a conglomeration of professionals of various cadres of health and I know myself very well; I am very weak in so many things. But I regarded it as a challenge thrown before me.

The first decision I took was to make sure that my English was improved. It is therefore deliberate that all the 91 press releases I penned down for the Board and issued out to media were all in English. My aim for this is to polish and sharpen my grammar, and alhamdu lillahi I achieved a lot in this regard.

At this point, I must to sincerely and exceptionally thank my boss, Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo for giving me free-hand to do my job without hindrance. DG has never, even once, queried me for any information I released or communicated to broadcast, print and new media. This is an indication of trust, confidence and respect he accorded me. I am very much grateful for this, sir.

I must also thank all staff of the Board, from top to bottom, retired and serving ones, whom I have gotten maximum cooperation from during these years. We stayed peacefully and harmoniously so much that I never had quarrel with any of the staff. We worked joyously and laugh together.

Again, I am obliged to be thankful to all Zonal Directors, CMDs and other health workers under the HMB for the cooperation they have given me that allowed me to perform my duty successful. May Allah reward you all with His blessings and protect you against all odds.

I must acknowledge you the followers for following my activities and positive comments through this channel. I am very much grateful.

Lastly, I am seeking for forgiveness from those I offended, knowingly or unknowingly. I want assure you that it is not intentional, it is as a result of my aim to the discharge my official assignment diligently and give out the best information regarding the Board.

I hope you will appreciate the little I have done. I loved to do more; alas I couldnt to various challenges coupled with my weakness in so many things. I really enjoyed utmost cooperation from you people. I hope same would be extended to my successor, Samira Sulaiman. In sha Allah she will do more than what I have done.

Thank you so much and best regards.

Wassalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.

PRESS RELEASE

SSA Political Awareness Donates Patients' Cards to HMB

Public/political office holders, top government functionaries and other well-meaning people in the state have been enjoined to complement Kano state government in its bid to uplift the standard of healthcare system.

The DG Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo made the call Wednesday while receiving thousands of patients' cards donated to the Board by Abba Rabi'u, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR (Khadimul Islam) on Political Awareness.

Dr. Kabo said that Dr. Ganduje has done excellently well in turning around the health service delivery in the state through unprecedented infrastructural development in health sector at both the primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

The DG further stated that in his passion and political will to improve the human resources for health and financial flow in the health service delivery, Khadimul Islam has come up with meaningful policies, initiatives and programmes so as to achieve the set objectives such as the establishment of Kano State Health Trust Fund and Contributory Health Care Management Agency to augment healthcare financing in the state.

He pleasurably noted that since 1963 when the state was named Kano, there has not been any Governor that did what Governor Ganduje has done in promoting the healthcare system of the state, citing that the recently commissioned a world class Cancer Centre by President Muhammadu Buhari in the state has proven Khadimul Islam as a true health amiable governor.

"Among the giant strides of His Excellency in healthcare system is the sustainability of the free intervention programmes like Free Maternal and Child Health, Accident and Emergency, Cleaning and Cleansing, etc where drugs and consumables worth millions of Naira are being purchased monthly and supplied to hospitals for free dispensing to deserving people and keeping the facilities clean and tidy as well.

"Khadimul Islam is doing all these despite shortage of funds bedeviling the country for years. We must commend our governor and appreciate his stand-stillness to see the health system of the state improves optimally. I am therefore calling on people of the state to also complement state government in this direction by donating to health facilities as the demands are too enormous for government alone to shoulder", Dr. Kabo revealed.

He then thanked the SSA for the donation and assured him that it will be used judiciously in various secondary health facilities, urging him to redouble efforts by bringing more donations as he will surely get the reward from Our Creator.

Speaking earlier, the SSA on Political Awareness, Abba Rabi'u, said that he develops interest to support the HMB with the cards while critically observing the cheering commitments being put in place by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in transforming the health system of the state and understand that the workload and demands are colossal.

"Hence I see it as a civil duty upon my humble self to use the little I have to complement the noble cause of Khadimul Islam. On this note, I am appealing my counterparts to also follow the suit so as eventually together we will see that we contribute our quota in actualizing the dream of His Excellency in the health sector. I must thank the DG for the warm reception he extended to me", said Abba Rabi'u.
