The news has reached us that the SSG (Baffa Bichi) of Kano State Government announced that they will demolish and redecorate the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange. This is a total mismanagement of government funds and is unacceptable.

We call on the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to stop this unwise attitude and focus on building and continuing the progress that the past administration has made.

“Legislature is a distinct arm of government that doesn’t work based on sentiments, it works on your ability to get the job done. It is the tradition all over the world and it is also stated there in our rule book and the rules are drafted from our constitutions.” The Senate rule gives credence to seniority and experience above sentiments. Now, the office of Senate Presidency micro-zoned to the South-South geo-political zone and the Deputy Senate President to the North-West by the ruling party, considering persons with impeccable credentials and souring pedigree in legislative matters with interplay of political ascendancy to pilot the affairs of the National Assembly. “This current National Assembly has the latitude to regulate its own procedures as a distinct arm of government with fairness to the two main religions put in consideration. Therefore, the leadership of Senators Godswill Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin possess the qualities required to stabilise the 10th National Assembly as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively.

Senator Akpabio's antecedents as a two-term governor, "AKA UNCOMMON GOVERNOR "and a Minister of Niger Delta Affairs will certainly position the people as the crucial center of legislation in a way that the National Assembly and the Presidency will subsist in a complimentary relationship and not as a rubber-stamp entity.

As a true and loyal party man, it was Akpabio during the party primaries, and without any prompting, that stepped down for the national leader of his party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to ensure that he triumphed to carry the party flag to become the President-Elect today. Akpabio, is not one considered to be high-handed or gloat because he has always been fair and considerate. His honesty is ingrained as part of his character.

Senator Jibrin has been in the National Assembly since 1999 and in the Senate since 2015. He started by joining the Green Chambers/House of Representatives first, after building successful businesses and after also passing through extensive training programs in different endeavors in his career journey. He is highly experienced and competent, which may be evaluated across a variety of fields of human effort in the eight assembly. Also, he played a vital role in the President-Elect's Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory. He has the capacity to drive a well co-ordinated and better organized and responsible government that meets the needs and yearnings of Nigerians.

Senator Jibrin was awarded Northern Senator of the year 2017 by Nigerian Senate Press Corps and in October 2022, a Nigerian national honour of Commander Of The Order Of The Niger (CON) was conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Akpabio and Jibrin are people who will never stop learning and are flexible about accepting new and better ways to accomplish ends even if it requires a bit of maverick irreverence. They will readily move ahead with the times and make innovation and technology work for the benefit of all not just a few. They possess the practicality to know when to be moderate and accomplish goals and when to be radical and fight for values. They identify limitations and know how to take advice. They have the flexibility to realize that the “enemies” of yesteryears may be the allies of tomorrow and embrace the opportunities that become available.

Senators Godswill Akpabio and Barau Jibrin will lead the nations 10th National Assembly as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively. It's just like having Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on the same team. We surely are in the best hands.
