KADGIS FACILITATES LAND DISPUTE RESOLUTION BETWEEN UNGUWAR BORO COMMUNITY AND YUSUF HOLDINGS LTD

In continuation of efforts to resolve land disputes and promote peaceful coexistence within communities across Kaduna State, a landmark resolution has been reached between residents of Unguwar Boro in Chikun Local Government Area and Yusuf Holdings Ltd.

The dispute arose following the encroachment of land belonging to Yusuf Holdings Ltd by some residents of the Unguwar Boro community. The matter had been in court since 2001, culminating in a judgement in favour of Yusuf Holdings Ltd.

As part of its commitment to ensuring fairness and justice to all parties, the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) intervened in the matter and facilitated a resolution that included compensation for residents deemed deserving of such consideration.

The resolution has brought relief to members of the community, who expressed appreciation for the intervention. They also formally apologised to Yusuf Holdings Ltd for the encroachment, explaining that it occurred unknowingly.

The affected area comprises approximately 388 developed houses and 139 undeveloped plots.

The resolution underscores KADGIS’ commitment to using dialogue, fairness and appropriate land administration mechanisms to resolve longstanding land disputes and foster peaceful relationships between communities and legitimate property owners across Kaduna State.

KADGIS EXPRESSES SUPPORT FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING CAMPAIGN, CALLS FOR RENT REGULATION

The Emirate Consulting and Mediation Hub, an organisation championing the cause of affordable housing for all, today paid a visit to the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) as part of efforts to address the rising cost of rent, which remains a major concern to residents of Kaduna State.

The organisation, concerned about the rising cost of housing, has convened a rally for affordable housing in Kaduna State and sought the support of KADGIS towards the success of the programme.

Delivering his welcome address, the Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, described the visit as timely, noting that efforts are currently underway to regulate the activities of land and property agents through a registration process and an established framework for their operations.

Speaking on measures being taken to ease the housing challenge, Dr. Bashir said the Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of Governor Senator Uba Sani, has embarked on mass housing initiatives aimed at making home ownership more accessible to low income earners in the state.

He specifically cited the Qatar Sanabil housing project, which is aimed at providing 500,000 housing units in Kaduna State, as one of the major initiatives being pursued to address the housing deficit.

The DG further explained that land is being made available to developers for mass housing projects across the state, alongside other partnerships with the private sector, all aimed at increasing the availability of affordable housing.

He also highlighted the reduction in fees payable to the Kaduna State Government for land and property related transactions as another measure intended to reduce the financial burden associated with property ownership.

The Convener of the programme, Bello Muhammed, commended KADGIS for its various initiatives aimed at improving land administration and addressing challenges in the property sector.

He, however, appealed to the state government to take steps towards addressing the yearly increase in rent, as well as what he described as arbitrary and double charges imposed by some property agents, which he said have become exploitative and further increase the burden on residents.

Responding, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim advised the organisation to submit a formal proposal to the Kaduna State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Kaduna State House of Assembly for consideration and possible enactment of legislation to regulate rent increases and related issues in the state.

He assured the delegation that KADGIS remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote an orderly, transparent and affordable property sector for the benefit of residents of Kaduna State.

GOVERNOR UBA SANI APPROVES LAND OFFERS TO KADUNA PENSIONERS FOR OFFICE, URBAN AGRICULTURE

Sequel to the appeal made by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Kaduna State Branch, to the Kaduna State Governor for land to establish a permanent office during a courtesy visit to KADGIS on August 5, the land offer was today presented to the Union at the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS).

Making the presentation, the Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, said the request came at the right time, noting that Governor Uba Sani is deeply committed to the welfare of pensioners and is always ready to respond to their needs.

In addition to the land allocated for the Union’s permanent office, the pensioners were also presented with an offer of land for Urban Agriculture, which is expected to engage members in productive agricultural activities.

Receiving the offers, the Chairman of the Union, Mr. Aboman Ladan, expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani and the KADGIS management, saying he lacked words to adequately describe the joy of the pensioners over the gesture.

Mr. Ladan prayed for continued success and wisdom for the KADGIS Director General in the discharge of his responsibilities. He explained that the Union had struggled for many years to secure a permanent office space and had been operating from a temporary structure.

Describing Governor Uba Sani as a compassionate leader, the NUP Chairman said the welfare of pensioners had, for the first time in history, been given significant attention by a serving Governor. He noted that out of about ₦30 billion in outstanding pension-related payments, approximately ₦17 billion had so far been paid in pensions, gratuities and death benefits, describing the development as unprecedented.

Mr. Ladan assured the Governor of the Union’s continued support and conveyed the commitment of pensioners to the Governor ahead of the forthcoming election, declaring that “all pensioners are for the Governor.”

He further disclosed that upon completion, the new permanent office of the Union would be named after Governor Uba Sani in appreciation of his commitment to the welfare of pensioners.

The presentation marks another step in the Kaduna State Government’s efforts to support the welfare and productivity of senior citizens through access to permanent facilities and opportunities for economic engagement.

The DG of KADGIS Dr Bashir Garba Ibrahim today had a stakeholder meeting with some land owners from Keke A in millennium city to resolve land dispute between them and a developer who sold land to them.
This step was taken by KADGIS to resolve the issue which has dragged on for a long time with no solution in sight as the developer sold the land without due process and also to minimise the loss which the people might incur over the transaction.

The affected people were advised to present all purchase documents so as to ascertain true ownership and level of commitment of each person which will pave the way the smooth resolution of the impasse which the DG promised will be done within a short period.

SSASCGOC RAISES CONCERN OVER ENCROACHMENT ON KADSWAC PROPERTIES.

Executives of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporation and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) today visited the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) to raise concerns over the encroachment on treatment plants and other properties belonging to the Kaduna State Water Corporation.

During their presentation, the SSASCGOC executives expressed concern that the encroachment could limit the corporation’s ability to expand its water treatment facilities in the future, particularly as the population continues to grow and the demand for potable water increases.

They explained that the treatment plants were originally designed with extensive surrounding land reserved for future expansion. However, some of the lands were subsequently carved out and allocated or sold to individuals, thereby reducing the space available for the corporation’s future development.

Responding, the Director General of KADGIS, Dr Bashir Garba Ibrahim, assured the delegation that the agency would take necessary measures to prevent further encroachment on the corporation’s properties.

He explained that some of the encroachments occurred at a time when the properties had not been properly titled, stressing that the ongoing process of securing titles for all properties belonging to the Kaduna State Water Corporation would provide stronger protection against future encroachment.

Dr Bashir further disclosed that plans were underway to provide the corporation with additional plots of land for its activities, as well as land for the development of mass housing scheme for its staff.

The SSASCGOC executives expressed appreciation for the response and support received from KADGIS, commending the State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his commitment to the welfare of workers.

They particularly acknowledged the Governor’s recent approval for the payment of a backlog of workers’ entitlements amounting to over one billion naira, describing the gesture as evidence of a people-centred administration with a listening ear.

The delegation also expressed satisfaction with the warm reception accorded to them by the management of KADGIS and its willingness to support the Kaduna State Water Corporation in protecting and securing its properties across the state.

KADGIS ENGAGES WUSONO, LABAR COMMUNITIES OVER PROLONGED LAND DISPUTE

The management of the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) has engaged stakeholders from Wusono and Labar communities in Jaji, Igabi LGA, over a longstanding land dispute involving the communities and military personnel of Jaji.

The dispute, which has persisted through successive administrations and resulted in the demolition of some community houses and the loss of farmlands, has been the subject of a prolonged legal battle.

At the engagement, community members expressed their grievances and appealed to the Kaduna State Government for intervention to bring a lasting resolution to the matter and restore peace to the affected communities.

Responding, the Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim commended the communities for remaining law-abiding and choosing due process despite the difficulties they have endured. He assured them that the Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of Governor Senator Uba Sani, remains committed to protecting its citizens and addressing the matter.

The DG further stated that the government will make arrangements for compensation following a thorough assessment of properties lost during the demolitions, as well as farmland compensation for farmers whose lands were affected.

The communities expressed appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for intervening in the matter, particularly on behalf of those whose homes were demolished. They reaffirmed their commitment to peace and continued adherence to the law as they await the outcome of the assessment and compensation process.

The meeting was attended by the District Heads of Rigachikun and Sabon Birni, Alhaji Ibrahim Sani Zubairu and Alhaji Nuraddeen Zailani; Chairman, Igabi LGA, Hon. Sani Abdul; Danmasanin Wusono, Yusuf Mallam; community leaders, security personnel and the communities’ legal representative.

KAD-IRS VISITS KADGIS, SEEKS COLLABORATION ON REVENUE GENERATION

The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), led by its Acting Executive Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Lawal, today paid a courtesy visit to the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) to strengthen collaboration and explore opportunities for improved revenue generation.

The delegation was received by the Director of Land Services, Abdullahi Tukur, who represented the Director General of KADGIS.

Dr. Lawal explained that the visit was aimed at reviewing issues arising from previous engagements and learning from KADGIS’ experience as one of Kaduna State’s leading internally generated revenue agencies.

He noted that KADIRS generates about 99% of its revenue independently and expressed interest in understanding KADGIS’ revenue streams, invoicing processes and strategies, as well as the challenges and opportunities within its revenue system.

The Acting Executive Chairman proposed the establishment of a joint KADIRS–KADGIS team to facilitate continuous engagement, share knowledge and develop practical strategies for boosting internally generated revenue.

In his response, the Director of Land Services, Mal. Abdullahi Tukur reaffirmed KADGIS’ commitment to supporting KADIRS and strengthening inter-agency collaboration. He also highlighted emerging revenue streams, including shop registration and the newly introduced Sectional Titling initiative, as areas with significant revenue potential.

The engagement underscored the shared commitment of both agencies to innovation, knowledge sharing and stronger internally generated revenue for the development of Kaduna State.
