AGILE Engages Service Providers to Strengthen GBV Referral Pathways for Safer Learning in Kaduna State

The Kaduna State AGILE Project has convened its Quarterly Review Meeting with GBV Service Providers to strengthen coordination, accountability and survivor-centred response across the State.

The one-day meeting brings together 46 GBV service providers from the 23 LGAs and representatives from five key MDAs: the Ministries of Human Services and Social Development, Education, Health and Justice, as well as the State Quality Assurance Authority.

The meeting provides a platform to review referral pathways, assess emerging risks and service gaps, share experiences, and develop practical solutions for improving access to timely, confidential and quality support for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), Sexual Harassment (SH), and Violence Against Children (VAC).

Through stronger partnerships and coordinated action, AGILE Kaduna is working to ensure that every adolescent girl learns in a safe, inclusive and violence-free environment.

KADUNA AGILE HOSTS MORAH SPECIAL EDUCATION CONSULTANT

Kaduna State AGILE Project today received a delegation from Morah Special Education Consultant, led by its National President, Ibrahim Yusuf, on a courtesy visit to the Project team.

The visit focused on exploring areas of collaboration and exchanging ideas and strategies to strengthen inclusive education and improve access to quality learning for persons with disabilities.

In his address, the Project Coordinator, Abdulhalim Ladan, commended the delegation for its commitment to promoting inclusion and quality education for persons with disabilities.

He reaffirmed that inclusion remains a key priority of the AGILE Project, reflected across its implementation activities, including school infrastructure and curriculum delivery.

Ladan assured the delegation that initiatives aligned with AGILE’s development objectives would be welcomed and explored as part of efforts to promote quality learning and greater inclusion for adolescent boys and girls with special needs across Kaduna State.

There is ability in disability. Together, we can build a more inclusive education system where every learner has the opportunity to thrive.

AGILE Empowers Kaduna Schoolgirls on Menstrual Health and Confidence Building

About 300 public school girls gathered at Queen Amina College, Kaduna, to commemorate the 2026 International Menstrual Hygiene Day, organised by the Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning and Empowerment, Kaduna State -AGILE Project with the theme:

"Breaking Barriers, Building Confidence: Empowering Public School Girls Through Menstrual Health Education."

The event provided girls with practical knowledge on menstrual hygiene management, confidence building, gender-based violence prevention, and life skills, while promoting dignity, good health, and improved school retention.

The programme featured expert health talks, panel discussions, eco-club exhibitions, safe space presentations, a hygiene kit distribution, and inter-school competitions involving GSS Sabon Tasha, GSS Kakuri, GSS Television, GSS Makera, and Queen Amina College.

The event had in attendance, the Commissioner of Education represented by the Ministry's Director of Female Education, Haj. Aisha Mohammed, Traditional and Religious Leaders from Kakuri community, the Queen Amina College PTA Chairperson and other representatives of the PTA, representatives from the Center for Girls Education, Teachers, some parents and guardians as well as the media.

Beyond awareness, AGILE continues to transform education in Kaduna State through: ✅ new schools constructions with 62 already while work is ongoing in 13 more. ✅ Renovation and construction of over 2,000 WASH facilities. ✅ Establishment of digital literacy laboratories in about over 50 schools. ✅ Conditional cash transfers benefiting nearly 50,000 girls to improve school attendance and retention.

Together, with the relevant Stakeholders and partners, the Kaduna State government is breaking barriers, building confidence, and ensuring that no girl misses the opportunity to learn because of menstruation, by adequately providing the required and conducive learning environment for her.

Celebrating Every Child, Empowering Every Girl!

The 2026 Children's Day Celebration in Kaduna State was a memorable occasion that highlighted the achievements and impact of the AGILE Project while reinforcing the Kaduna State Government's commitment to improving access to quality education, protection, and empowerment for the girl child.

The celebration served as a platform to raise awareness on the importance of girls' education and school retention, giving children the opportunity to showcase their talents, share their voices, and inspire positive change. It also strengthened community stakeholder commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of every child.

The event, themed “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” brought together students from selected AGILE intervened secondary schools to showcase their talents and academic abilities.

Participating schools included GSS Nasarawan Rigachikun, GSS Kawo, Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Unguan Sarki and Dalet Government Secondary School and the Kaduna State School for Special Needs Students.

The event featured exciting and impactful activities, including School Parade (Match Past displays) by students; Digital Quiz and talk show Competitions; Safe Spaces and Eco-Club Exhibition, talent and Innovation showcase; Inspiring testimonies from AGILE beneficiaries; other educational contests, Awards and recognition for outstanding performances.

At the end of the competitions, GSS Nasarawan Rigachikun secured first position, while Dalet Government Girls Secondary School came second. GSS Kawo finished third, while GGSS Unguan Sarki clinched the fourth position in the overall standings.

Among the Stakeholders in attendance at the event were the Village Head of Nasarawan Rigachikun, SBMC Chairman of GSS Nasarawan Rigachikun, SBMC PRO, the Community Women Leader, PTA Women Leader, parents and guardians as well as community members.

Together with all stakeholders, Kaduna State is building a future where every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and achieve their full potential.
