It was an honor to welcome the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON, and the Honourable Minister of State, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, CON together with Commissioners of Agriculture across the States of our nation, on a courtesy visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House ahead of the National Council on Agriculture and Food Security convening here in Kaduna. Their presence is both an affirmation and an inspiration; a testament to our administration’s steadfast commitment to agriculture as the foundation of inclusive growth, shared prosperity, and lasting food security.
In their remarks, the Honourable Ministers lauded Kaduna State as a lodestar of agricultural transformation: the first in the federation to launch the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ), and the only state in Northern Nigeria to combine the SAPZ with an Agricultural Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC). During their statewide tour, investors and stakeholders echoed this praise, commending our government’s resolute pursuit of a secure, enabling, and enterprise-friendly environment where innovation and sustainability can take root.
Our vision for agriculture is not abstract policy but lived commitment. We have distributed, free of charge, more than 900 truckloads of fertilizer across all 23 local government areas, a decisive gesture toward empowering smallholder farmers and revitalising rural livelihoods. Moreover, we have raised the agricultural budget allocation from 0.5% to an unprecedented 12.5%, surpassing the Maputo Declaration benchmark and reaffirming that agriculture remains the heartbeat of our development agenda.
We extend profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his transformative leadership and unwavering dedication to national food sufficiency. Kaduna State stands proud to host this year’s National Council on Agriculture and Food Security, and remains fully committed to forging enduring partnerships that will secure Nigeria’s agricultural renaissance.
Senator Uba Sani, CON
Governor, Kaduna State.
