The Kaduna Health Media Alliance (KADHAMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening healthcare advocacy and improving public awareness on health-related issues across Kaduna State.

The alliance reiterated its dedication to promoting solution-driven journalism through strengthened health advocacy and increased public enlightenment on health programmes and initiatives across the state.

Chairman of Kaduna Health Media Alliance (KADHAMA) Alhaji Garba Mohammed, stated this during a stakeholders’ strategic meeting involving journalists, media professionals, and selected public relations officers from Kaduna State MDAs. The meeting, supported by the International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH) was held at Dome Suites Kaduna.

Garba Mohammed said the meeting focused on expanding community-based health reporting, improving stakeholder collaboration, and positioning the alliance as a strong platform for health advocacy and responsible journalism.

He further stated that the doors of Kaduna Health Media Alliance remain open to partnerships with development organisations, government institutions, and individuals committed to improving the health conditions of Kaduna State residents. He also commended the International Society of Media in Public Health for supporting the alliance in achieving its mandate and urged other organisations to emulate the gesture.

In her remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH) Moji Makanjuola, represented by the Programme Coordinator, Philip Chukwunonso, emphasized the importance of collaboration among media practitioners, development partners, and government institutions in strengthening healthcare delivery and improving public access to accurate health information in Kaduna State and beyond.

She noted that effective health communication plays a vital role in addressing healthcare challenges, promoting accountability, and strengthening public trust within the health sector.

Moji Makanjuola also reaffirmed the International Society of Media in Public Health’s (ISMPH) commitment to supporting media-driven advocacy initiatives aimed at enhancing public participation,

KADCHMA to Enroll Vulnerable Persons Quarterly into the State Health Scheme
The Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) has pledged to enroll selected vulnerable persons quarterly into the Kaduna State Contributory Health Scheme to ease the financial burden of accessing healthcare services.

The Director-General of KADCHMA, Mallam Abubakar Hassan, made this known during the commemoration of the International Day of the Midwife and the provision of Sexual and Reproductive Health services to Persons with Disabilities in 2026, supported by Arrida Relief Foundation, held at the Kaduna State Women and Child Shelter.

Represented by the Team Lead, Informal Sector, KADCHMA, Mallam Abubakar Shehu Sai'du, the Director-General stated that the core mandate of KADCHMA is to ensure that all residents of Kaduna State have access to quality and affordable healthcare services across the state.

He further explained that the authority remains fully committed to supporting the vision of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, in providing accessible and affordable healthcare services to residents.

Abubakar Hassan commended Arrida Relief Foundation for organizing the programme and noted that KADCHMA is always open to partnerships with organizations, groups, and individuals whose efforts are geared towards improving the health and wellbeing of people in the state. He urged other organizations to emulate such initiatives.

As part of KADCHMA’s social responsibility efforts, the Director-General provided over 50 enrollment forms to ensure that vulnerable persons who attended the programme were enrolled into the Kaduna State Contributory Health Scheme free of charge.

The event attracted top government officials, academics, medical personnel, development partners, and persons with disabilities, among others.

The (KADCHMA), with support from (HCD+), has intensified grassroots engagement to improve healthcare delivery and reduce the financial burden of medical services on residents by leveraging traditional institutions across the state.

The Director-General of KADCHMA, Abubakar Hassan, disclosed this during an advocacy visit and presentation of a recognition award to the Emir of Jama’a, Muhammadu Isa Muhammadu, for his outstanding commitment toward improving healthcare services for vulnerable populations and his steadfast support for KADCHMA and the BHCPF programmes in Jema’a Local Government Area.

He explained that the visit forms part of ongoing efforts to expand healthcare coverage by leveraging traditional institutions to reach people at the grassroots. According to him, the engagement focuses on strengthening advocacy, sensitization, and awareness of the state’s contributory health scheme.

Mallam Hassan noted that discussions with traditional leaders emphasized the need to increase enrollment, particularly among the less privileged, pregnant women, and children, in order to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for households.

In his response, the Emir of Jama’a, Muhammadu Isa Muhammadu, expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed the commitment of the traditional institution to support initiatives aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of communities.

KADCHMA, HCD+ Engage Traditional Rulers to Boost Health Scheme Enrollment
The Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA), with support from Human Capital Development Plus (HCD+), has intensified grassroots engagement to improve healthcare delivery and reduce the financial burden of medical services on residents.

The Director-General of KADCHMA, Mallam Abubakar Hassan, disclosed this during an advocacy visit to the Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area.

He explained that the visit forms part of ongoing efforts to expand healthcare coverage by leveraging traditional institutions to reach people at the grassroots. According to him, the engagement focuses on strengthening advocacy, sensitization, and awareness of the state’s contributory health scheme.

Mallam Hassan noted that discussions with traditional leaders emphasized the need to increase enrollment, particularly among the less privileged, pregnant women, and children, in order to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for households.
