GOVERNOR MUTFWANG RESTATES HIS ADMINISTRATION’S COMMITMENT TO REVITALIZING EDUCATION SECTOR IN PLATEAU STATE AS FG UNVEILS REFORMS TO BRIDGE OUT-OF-SCHOOL GAP

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to revitalizing the education sector and ensuring that every child has access to quality and affordable education, as the Federal Republic of Nigeria unveiled fresh reforms aimed at bridging the gap of out-of-school children across the nation.

Governor Mutfwang made this known at the ongoing 2026 Basic Education in Nigeria Boot Camp Summit taking place in Jos.

The three-day summit, themed “Enhancing Access to Inclusive Quality Education and Bridging the Gap for Out-of-School Children in Nigeria,” brought together key stakeholders, policymakers, development partners, and education experts to chart practical pathways for addressing one of the country’s most pressing educational challenges.

Represented by his Deputy, Her Excellency Ngo Josephine Piyo, Governor Mutfwang described the out-of-school children crisis as a matter of urgent national concern, noting that it represents millions of deferred dreams, untapped potentials, and uncertain futures.

He stressed that children who remain outside the formal education system face heightened risks of poverty, child labour, insecurity, and social exclusion, adding that the challenge requires urgent, coordinated, and sustained action at all levels of government and society.

Highlighting achievements of the Plateau State Government in the education sector, he disclosed that his administration has so far constructed 397 classrooms, renovated 557 others, drilled 33 motorized boreholes in schools, and supplied furniture to thousands of pupils across the state in order to create a more conducive environment for learning.

“Our administration remains committed to revitalizing the education sector and ensuring that every child, regardless of location, gender, disability, or socio-economic background, has access to quality and affordable education,” he stated.

Governor Mutfwang further welcomed the launch of key national policy documents at the summit, including the National Policy on Alternative Learning Pathways in Nigeria and the National Guidelines for the Facilitation of Re-Entry of Pregnant and Married Adolescent Girls into Schools.

According to him, these reforms mark a significant milestone in expanding flexible, inclusive, and equitable educational opportunities for children previously excluded from the formal school system.

Earlier, the Honourable Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to delivering inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all Nigerian children through targeted interventions, curriculum reforms, digital learning tools, teacher development, and alternative learning pathways.

On her part, the Commissioner for Education, Plateau State, Dr Mrs Kachollom Gang, in an opening remark, noted that the Governor Caleb Mutfwang administration remains committed to revitalizing the education sector and ensuring that every child, regardless of location, gender, disability, or socio-economic background, has access to quality and affordable education.

She added that the summit is expected to produce practical strategies and innovative solutions for identifying out-of-school children, reintegrating them into the education system, and ensuring their retention and successful completion of basic education.

The Renewed Hope Advocates has formally endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for the 2027 general elections, while also announcing a donation of N50 million towards Governor Mutfwang’s re-election nomination form.

The endorsement was made during the inauguration of the group’s National Executive Council held at Eliel Event Center.

The event attracted party faithful, political stakeholders, and delegates from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the event marked a significant political moment and underscored growing support for both leaders ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Speaking at the event, National Coordinator of the group, Barr. Mrs. Beatrice C.J. Dakas, described the inauguration as a landmark occasion, noting that executive members of the organisation from across the country were present to unanimously endorse President Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang for a second term in office.

Barr. Dakas said the gesture was borne out of admiration for Governor Mutfwang’s leadership style and visible developmental strides across Plateau State.

She described Governor Mutfwang as a purposeful and selfless leader whose administration has inspired confidence and renewed hope among citizens.

She further stated that members of the group remain committed to supporting, encouraging, and praying for the Governor to succeed in his mandate.

According to her, the movement would intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts to urban centres, citing the achievements of both leaders as justification for continuity in governance.

The National Coordinator also appealed to Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing what she described as bold reforms, courageous leadership, and determination to reposition the country.

She acknowledged prevailing economic challenges but maintained that the President has shown resilience and commitment in addressing long-standing national issues while laying the foundation for sustainable growth and stability.

She urged citizens to allow the President to complete his reform agenda in the interest of national progress.

Also speaking, Barr. Gyang Zi (SAN) noted that the endorsements reflected appreciation for the efforts of both the President and Governor, while calling for sustained public support to enable them to consolidate on current achievements.

Governor Mutfwang, represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo described the inauguration as a celebration of renewed dedication to purposeful leadership, good governance, and national development.

He noted that the group represents a movement driven by unity, conviction, and confidence in Nigeria’s future under President Tinubu’s leadership.

Governor Mutfwang commended the President for confronting longstanding national challenges and initiating reforms aimed at economic recovery, institutional strengthening, and stability.

Charging the newly inaugurated executives, he urged them to embrace service, discipline, loyalty, and sacrifice, stressing that leadership must be measured by responsibility and impact.

He added that the endorsement of President Tinubu and himself reflects the confidence reposed on them and pledged to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people for a better future.

The event also featured humanitarian interventions, with cash donations presented to persons living with disabilities and other disadvantaged members of society.

It was a moment of joy, elegance, and cultural harmony as the son of the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Tisloh Piyo, exchanged marital vows with Miss Temitope Afolabi.

The beautiful wedding ceremony was well attended by family members, friends, political associates, and well-wishers from across the country.

Speaking during the church service, the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, warmly congratulated the couples, as well as both families on the joyous occasion.

The Governor described the union between the Yoruba and Berom cultures as a powerful symbol of national unity and peaceful coexistence, noting that inter-tribal marriages remain one of the strongest expressions of love beyond ethnic and regional boundaries.

He encouraged Nigerians to continue embracing unity, tolerance, and mutual respect through such relationships.

Governor Mutfwang also expressed appreciation to both families for their understanding and patriotism in rescheduling the wedding ceremony, which was initially planned for April 4 but moved to April 18 in honour of the victims of the tragic Angwan Rukuba attack in Jos.

In his sermon, Apostle Danjuma Musa charged the couple to love, cherish, and honour one another, describing marriage as a sacred institution ordained by God and founded on sacrifice, commitment, and faithfulness.

The ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, including deputy governors of other states, senior government officials, traditional leaders, and guests from within and outside Plateau State, reflecting the widespread goodwill and esteem enjoyed by both families.

Mother of the groom and Deputy Governor of Plateau, Ngo Josephine Piyo, noted that the ceremony was not only a union of two individuals but also a memorable testament to love, unity, and the enduring strength of family values.

She wished them a happy married life and encouraged them to make God the foundation of their home.

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG CHARGES NATIONAL HEALTH FELLOWS TO CHAMPION CONTINUITY, INNOVATION, SUSTAINABILITY

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has charged participants of the National Health Fellows Programme to champion continuity, innovation, and sustainability in the ongoing transformation of the state’s healthcare system.

Governor Mutfwang gave the charge during the graduation of Cohort 1.0 and onboarding of Cohort 2.0 of the National Health Fellows Programme held at Crispan Hotel, Jos.

The ceremony brought together key stakeholders in the health sector, government officials, and development partners committed to strengthening primary healthcare delivery across the state.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, he described young health professionals as the driving force behind a new era of healthcare reform in Plateau State, emphasising that the programme aligns strategically with the Federal Government’s National Health Sector Renewal Initiative and the Primary Health Care Transformation Agenda, positioning Plateau as an active and committed participant in broader national health reforms.

He stressed that the fellows would not operate at the margins but would be fully integrated into the core of the state’s health planning and governance architecture across all 17 Local Government Areas, according to him, their role is critical to ensuring that reforms are not only implemented but sustained over time.

Governor Mutfwang further urged the graduates to serve with courage, compassion, and conviction, describing them as torchbearers who will transform health facilities into centres of hope and healing for citizens across Plateau State.

He reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to strengthening primary healthcare, deepening institutional reforms, and empowering young professionals to build a resilient, inclusive, and people-centred health system for all.

In his remarks, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, represented by the Chief Medical Director of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the National Health Fellowship Programme in 2024 to enhance access to and quality of healthcare nationwide.

Bupwatda disclosed that about 774 young professionals selected from Local Government Areas across the country in the first and second cohorts are being equipped to strengthen governance, improve data management, and drive innovative, community-based improvements within Nigeria’s health sector.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicholas Ba’amlong, encouraged the graduands to embrace the vision of the programme and become catalysts for measurable and lasting change in health service delivery in the state.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Technical Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Health, Ashiru Abubakar; the representative of the Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Nanbol Listick, and representatives of the Gbong Gwom Jos, the Agwom Izere, among other dignitaries.

The highlight of the event was the formal presentation of certificates to Cohort 1.0 and the onboarding of Cohorts 2.0 by the Governor.

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG VISITS ATTACKED COMMUNITIES IN BARKIN LADI LGA, PROMISES JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the families and communities affected by the recent tragic attack by gunmen in Dorowa Babuje and Jong communities of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

During the visit, the Governor, represented by his deputy, Her Excellency Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, reaffirmed the Plateau State Government's commitment to sustaining peace and ensuring that insecurity does not undermine the relative calm currently being enjoyed across the state.

The Governor noted that the government is aware of the unfortunate incident and shares in the pain, grief, and trauma of the bereaved families.

He emphasized that his administration remains fair, just, and inclusive, and does not show favoritism to any group, tribe, or religion, but stands with all residents of Plateau State in times of distress.

The Governor assured citizens that security agencies have been duly mandated to intensify investigations, track down the perpetrators of the heinous act, and ensure that they are brought to justice.

He stressed that acts of violence against innocent citizens will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Governor Mutfwang further urged youths and residents to remain vigilant, security-conscious, and law-abiding, especially in challenging times, while cautioning against taking the law into their own hands or engaging in actions that could escalate tensions, such as road blockages or reprisals.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Hon. Stephen Pwajok, commended security agencies for their swift response and intervention in containing the situation and preventing further escalation.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Non-Governmental Organizations, Hon. Abubakar Kanam, reiterated the government’s concern for the welfare and safety of all citizens and called on residents to embrace peace, unity, and cooperation with government efforts at all levels.

The Gwom Rwei of Barkin Ladi, Da Edward Bot, described the recent events as deeply unfortunate and a setback to the development and stability of the area.

He appealed to residents to sheathe their swords, embrace dialogue, and work collectively towards restoring peace and normalcy.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Barkin Ladi LGA, Rev. Samson Dido, emphasized the importance of religious tolerance, noting that no religion is superior to another and that peaceful coexistence remains the bedrock of community development.

At Jong community, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Tambari Gizo, appreciated the government for identifying with the people in their time of grief and urged all residents to let bygones be bygones and pursue peaceful coexistence.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang on Sunday attended the COCIN Provincial Church Council (PCC) Reunion Service, where he called on Christians and citizens of Plateau State to remain united and committed to fervent prayers for the peace, stability, and progress of the state.

Speaking at the well-attended service, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of unity among believers and the critical role of prayer in sustaining peace and fostering harmonious coexistence across Plateau State.

Represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, he urged Christians to continually intercede for the state and the nation, noting that collective prayers and unity remain essential pillars for enduring development and social cohesion.

He also highlighted mission work as one of the cardinal duties of every Christian, stressing that evangelism and support for mission activities should not be occasional but a way of life rooted in faith, service, and compassion.

Governor Mutfwang commended the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) for its enduring contributions to spiritual growth, moral development, and community service, and encouraged the Church to continue promoting unity, love, and peaceful coexistence among the people of Plateau State.

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG COMMISERATES WITH ATEN NATION OVER LOSS OF CITIZENS, CONDEMNS ATTACK IN WORO, KWARA STATE

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt solidarity with the survivors and bereaved families of the Aten people of Ganawuri, Riyom LGA, following the recent tragic attack in Woro, Kaiyama Local Government Area of Kwara State, which claimed the lives of many innocent citizens.

Governor Mutfwang conveyed this message during a solemn church service held in honour of the deceased and the survivors who have since returned to Ganawuri in Riyom Local Government Area.

The service was organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria in collaboration with the Aten Development Association to mourn the thirty-one identified Aten indigenes who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.

Represented at the service by his deputy, Her Excellency, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, Governor Mutfwang described the attack as devastating, painful, and deeply distressing, noting that the loss of lives and the trauma inflicted on families and the entire Aten community is a tragedy that touches the conscience of all.

He strongly condemned the attack and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice, urging the survivors and grieving families not to lose hope but to find strength in faith, unity, and the enduring support of government and well-meaning Nigerians.

Governor Mutfwang commended the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Aten Development Association for organising the memorial service and standing in solidarity with the victims.

He acknowledged the courage of the survivors who despite the pain and trauma, have returned home to rebuild their lives.

The Governor noted the report presented by community representatives indicating that thirty-one Aten indigenes were killed, nineteen bodies were identified and given separate mass burials, fifteen persons were kidnapped, with five having escaped captivity while over 1,200 displaced persons have so far returned to Ganawuri.

He assured the community that the Plateau State Government, through relevant ministries and agencies, will provide necessary support, including trauma counselling and other humanitarian interventions to aid the healing and recovery process of the affected families.

Governor Mutfwang urged citizens to remain united, vigilant, and prayerful, emphasizing that peace, education, and economic diversification remain critical pathways to strengthening community resilience and preventing future vulnerabilities.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed, divine comfort for the bereaved families, and God’s intervention for the safe return of those still in captivity, while reaffirming the Plateau State Government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare, security, and dignity of all its people.

Goodwill messages were said by the Chairman of Riyom Local Government Area, Hon. Sati Shuwa, former Minister of Sports, Hon. Damishi Sango, Sen. Simon Mwadkon, Hon. Dalyop Moses Dadong; and other leaders who expressed sadness over the tragic incident.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to peace, social cohesion, and inclusive governance as the Plateau State Peace Building Agency (PPBA) commemorated its 10th Anniversary.

Speaking at the event, Governor Mutfwang described the establishment of the Peace Building Agency a decade ago as a bold and visionary decision that institutionalized peacebuilding in Plateau State, noting that peace is not accidental but must be structured, nurtured, coordinated, and sustained.

Governor Mutfwang, represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, emphasized that the anniversary marks ten years of intentional and institutionalized peacebuilding, characterized by sustained dialogue facilitation, effective early warning and early response mechanisms, community engagement, and deliberate efforts to build bridges across divides while strengthening trust between communities and the government.

Reflecting on the state’s journey, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged that Plateau has experienced difficult seasons in the past but has continued to chart a path toward stability and reconciliation through resilience, purposeful leadership, and collective effort.

Governor Mutfwang reiterated that his administration places peace at the centre of governance, stressing that peace remains the foundation upon which sustainable development thrives.

He further stated that peacebuilding is a collective responsibility, calling on traditional institutions, faith leaders, women's groups, youth organizations, civil society, security agencies, and citizens to continue working together to strengthen the state's peace architecture.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Peace Building Agency, Ms Julie Sanda, highlighted that the development of a modern technology and communication strategy marks another significant milestone in the Agency’s peacebuilding efforts, while also underscoring the importance of trauma support and resilience for vulnerable communities.

In his keynote address, the Special Envoy to the Governor on Peace Building, Prof. Chris Kwaja, emphasized the need for proactive measures to ensure peaceful coexistence, stressing the critical role of strong institutions, partnerships, and stakeholder collaboration in achieving lasting peace.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Acting Chairperson of the Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission, Olivia Dazyem; the President of the Peace Practitioners Network, Mrs Bali Nanmak, security agencies, among others, all of whom commended the Agency’s decade-long impact in promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence across Plateau State.

Highlights of the event included the unveiling of the Management Communication Strategy document, the unveiling of the 10th Anniversary logo, and the cutting of the anniversary cake, marking a decade of institutionalized peacebuilding and renewed commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Plateau State.

The Executive Governor of Plateau, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Thermolinks Ltd., has flagged off a five-day training programme on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion, safety, and maintenance for 120 youths in Jos.

The initiative, which kicked off on Monday ,at the Federal Secretariat, Jos, aligns with the Federal Government's National Gas Expansion Programme to promote cleaner, safer, and more affordable energy options to foster sustainable innovation nationwide.

Declaring the programme open, Governor Mutfwang represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, described the training as a strategic move that supports the state's priorities in youth empowerment, skills acquisition, and environmental sustainability.

"Youth development remains a top priority of our administration, this training goes beyond gas conversion; it equips our young people with practical, market-driven skills that open doors to entrepreneurship and active participation in Nigeria’s evolving energy economy," she said.

Governor Mutfwang commended the NCDMB for extending the programme to non-oil-producing states like Plateau, calling it a demonstration of national inclusion and commitment to indigenous capacity building.

Project Director of Thermolinks Ltd., Mr. Tonye Briggs, revealed that Plateau is the fifth state to benefit from the programme, praising the exceptional support from the state government by adding additional funds to be given to participants at the end of the training.

He explained that the training is highly practical, combining theoretical sessions with real-time vehicle conversions.

He revealed that each participant will receive a starter toolkit and two certificates, one backed by the Federal Government and another by the programme partners adding that their names will also be uploaded to a national database of certified CNG technicians.

Plateau State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Davou Jatau who spoke earlier hailed the initiative as a novel and timely innovation for the state.

He disclosed ongoing partnerships to establish a CNG conversion centre in Jos, including with the National Institute of Transport Technology.

Jatau appealed for accelerated federal support in providing CNG refilling infrastructure, stressing that gas supply access remains a major challenge.

General Manager of the Plateau State Energy Services Corporation, Engr. Ponzing Gamde, emphasized the dual benefits of the programme.

"This programme is a major gain for Plateau State, It promotes clean energy, reduces environmental degradation, and equips our youths with skills they can turn into a sustainable occupation."

" It is both an empowerment initiative and an environmental intervention," Gamde said.
