DR. GARBA DANJUMA INSPECTS FIRST REFERRAL HOSPITAL IBI, ASSURES STAFF OF HSMB SUPPORT || 7th Aug., 2026
The Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Health Services Management Board (TRS-HSMB), Dr. Garba Danjuma, on August 7th, 2026, visited the First Referral Hospital, Ibi, as part of efforts to assess healthcare service delivery, identify challenges, and strengthen the State’s healthcare system.
Dr. Danjuma, who was accompanied by a member of the HSMB, Hon. Jonah Azongwa, toured key departments of the facility and interacted with members of staff to gain firsthand insight into the hospital’s operations, achievements, and challenges.
Addressing the staff, the Executive Secretary commended them for their dedication to duty despite the challenges confronting the facility. He assured them of the Board’s continued commitment to improving staff welfare and strengthening healthcare delivery across the State.
He further assured the hospital that the Board would consider the posting of an additional Medical Officer to the facility.
Dr. Danjuma further stressed the importance of accountability, teamwork, discipline, and proper record-keeping in ensuring the effective management of the hospital. He advocated for a more digitised, efficient, and less bureaucratic health system, urging staff to be proactive, take informed decisions, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the facility.
He emphasised that every staff member must take responsibility for their assigned duties, noting that effective healthcare delivery requires everyone to play their part.
The Executive Secretary also charged the hospital management to promote discipline and teamwork while aligning its activities with the vision and mission of the State’s healthcare system. He encouraged the facility to strengthen its advocacy efforts, noting that significant improvements could be achieved through effective engagement with relevant stakeholders.
Dr. Danjuma further emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Board and health facilities, explaining that his visit was aimed at identifying challenges firsthand and exploring practical solutions to improve service delivery.
As part of the visit, the Executive Secretary paid a courtesy visit to the Sarkin Ibi, where they discussed areas of mutual collaboration aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to the people and improving access to quality healthcare in the community.
