Press Statement: 2026 National Children’s Day Commemoration

The Honourable Commissioner for Social Justice, Taraba State, Dr. Filister Irarimam Musa, today joined stakeholders at the commemoration of the 2026 National Children’s Day.

The event was marked by a peaceful march, heartfelt prayers, and reflections centered on the safe release of the abducted children in Oyo State. The gathering served as a strong reminder that the safety, dignity, and future of every Nigerian child must remain a collective priority.

In her remarks, Dr. Filister reaffirmed the Ministry of Social Justice’s commitment to defending the rights of children and ensuring justice for victims of abuse, neglect, and violence. She noted that social justice begins with protecting the most vulnerable in our society.

“Our children are the hope of tomorrow. As a ministry, we will continue to work with relevant agencies, traditional rulers, faith leaders, and civil society to create an environment where every child is safe, heard, and given the opportunity to thrive,” she said.

Dr. Filister commended the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hon. Mrs. Mary Sinjen, for her leadership in organizing the event, and appreciated the prayers and solidarity of all Nigerians during this difficult time.

The Ministry of Social Justice, Taraba State, stands firmly with the families of the abducted children and remains hopeful for their safe and speedy reunion.

The Honourable Commissioner for Social Justice, Dr. Filister Irarimam Musa, extends her heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Comrade Emmanuel Ukwen, the executives of the Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria (KYN), and the entire Kuteb nation over the painful loss of the immediate past President of KYN, Comrade Emmanuel Ukwen.
Dr. Filister Irarimam Musa expressed profound sadness over his passing, describing it as a great loss not only to the Kuteb nation but also to all who benefited from his wisdom, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the progress and unity of his people. She noted with concern that his death came at a time when the newly inaugurated executives and the entire Kuteb nation needed his wealth of experience and fatherly guidance the most.
She, however, stated that despite the pain of this irreparable loss, “our consolation is in God, the giver and taker of life.”

The Honourable Commissioner prayed that Almighty God grant his immediate family, the KYN executives, and the entire Kuteb nation the strength and fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss. She also prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
