Leadership is not about occupying positions; it is about influence, vision, and the ability to transform communities. In Oyo North Senatorial District, former chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and professor of Political Science, Prof. Adeolu Akande, has already proven that effective leadership begins long before holding an elective office. His record of service demonstrates a rare combination of intellect, compassion, and national credibility — qualities that position him as a true statesman ready to represent his people at the highest level.

There is a moment in every political season when a district must decide what it truly wants from its representation, whether it wants a seat filled, or a seat working. Whether it wants a name on a ballot, or a mind in the chamber. Whether it wants symbolism, or substance.

Oyo North is at that moment. And the man who has just scaled the All Progressives Congress screening exercise, Professor Adeolu Akande is the answer that moment demands.

Let us be honest about what has historically shaped conversation in Oyo North politics. For too long, the discourse has been framed in terms of geopolitical rotation, sub-regional sentiment, and the well-meaning but self-limiting logic of "whose turn it is." The Oke Ogun Agenda, noble in spirit, was a corrective impulse, a pushback against years of marginalisation. We understood it. We supported it. It served its purpose.

But a senatorial election is not a fairness exercise. It is a performance contract. The people of Oyo North — from Atisbo to Kajola, from Iwajowa to Itesiwaju, from Iseyin to Surulere, deserve a senator who does not merely arrive in Abuja, but one who works in Abuja. A legislator who does not simply collect constituency allowances but converts them into laws, interventions, and structural change. A representative who does not regard the Senate chamber as an honorarium but as a mandate.

That is the new frame. That is the new conversation. And in that conversation, only one name stands: Professor Adeolu Akande.

EID-EL-FITRI: PROF. ADEOLU AKANDE CELEBRATES SPIRIT OF RESILIENCE, CALLS FOR CONTINUED COMPASSION

As the Shawwal moon marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Professor Adeolu Akande has extended a heartfelt message of celebration to the Muslim community, describing the successful completion of the fast as a testament to the Nigerian spirit of resilience and devotion.

In a statement marking the Eid-el-Fitri festivities, the former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) noted that while the period of fasting has concluded, the lessons of the past thirty days must remain a permanent fixture in our national life.

"The beauty of Eid lies not just in the celebration, but in the growth we have achieved," Akande said. "We have spent a month cultivating patience, self-restraint, and a deeper connection to the plight of our neighbors. The true success of Ramadan will be measured by how much of that kindness we carry forward into our daily interactions."

Professor Adeolu Akande emphasized that the current economic realities in the country make the message of Eid, charity, and communal support more relevant than ever. He urged those who are more fortunate to continue the spirit of "Zakat" by looking out for the vulnerable within their immediate communities.

"This is a time for joy, but it is also a time for reflection. As we share meals and celebrate with our loved ones, let us remember that our strength as a people lies in our unity and our ability to support one another during challenging times," he added.

Prof further prayed for lasting peace across the nation, expressing optimism that the discipline and spiritual rebirth witnessed during the Holy Month would translate into a more harmonious and prosperous society.

He concluded his message by wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and celebratory Eid-el-Fitri holiday.
