SECOND PHASE PROJECTS COMMISSIONED ACROSS IPOKIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, on Thursday, 27 August 2026, commissioned the Second Phase Projects across Ipokia Local Government, marking another significant step in his administration’s commitment to delivering meaningful development at the grassroots. The projects were deliberately sited in communities where they are most needed, with particular attention to education, school infrastructure and primary healthcare.

The commissioned projects include:

1. Idiroko Ward: Community Primary School, Araromi Idiroko: Renovation of a two-classroom block, equipped with furniture.

2. Maun Ward I: Methodist Primary School, Osibadan: Construction of a two-classroom block, equipped with furniture.

3. Maun Ward II: IPLG Primary School, Vawhe Pevi: Renovation of a two-classroom block, equipped with furniture.

4. Ipokia Ward I: The Apostolic Church School, Obanigbe: Construction of a two-classroom block, equipped with furniture.

5. Agosasa Ward: Community Primary School, Idojori, Agosasa: Construction of a two-classroom block, equipped with furniture.

6. Ijofin/Idosa Ward: Community Primary School, Igate: Construction of a two-classroom block, equipped with furniture.

7. Ihunbo/Ilase Ward: Community Primary School, Igbooso Ori Eke: Construction of two classroom blocks, equipped with furniture.

8. Ifonyintedo Ward: Community Primary School, Saasa: Construction of a two-classroom block, equipped with furniture.

9. Maun Ward II: IPLG Primary School, Vawhe Tukuru: Construction of a two-classroom block, equipped with furniture.

10. Tube Ward: Methodist Primary School, Ode Pata: Construction of two classroom blocks, equipped with furniture.

11. Ajegunle Ward: Primary Health Care Centre, Ogosa: Construction of a Primary Health Care Centre with a solar-powered borehole.

The Chairman expressed his profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his continued support and commitment to grassroots development. He acknowledged the Governor’s developmental vision and support for local government administration, which continue to complement efforts towards bringing essential infrastructure and improved public services closer to the people of Ipokia Local Government.

The commissioning ceremony was graced by Alhaji Babatunde Emilola-Gazal, former Executive Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, former ALGON Chairman, Ogun State Chapter, and the current Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ogun State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who, alongside Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, represented the Governor at the occasion.

The Vice Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Mrs Olufunmilayo Okewole; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Babajide Johnson Olushola; and the Councillors, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Akeem Alamu Adeyanju, were also present at the commissioning. Their support and cooperation throughout the planning, ex*****on and completion of the projects were greatly appreciated. The administrative staff of the Local Government, led by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Mutiat Ogunyewo, also contributed significantly to the successful coordination and delivery of the projects.

Also present were distinguished party leaders, government functionaries and former office holders, including Hon. Wasiu Wale Agbetokun, former Chairman of Ipokia Local Government and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ipokia Local Government; Hon. Lanre Akeem Fagbemi, former Chairman of Ipokia Local Government; Hon. Osunbiyi Azeez Olatunde, Member of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission; Hon. Isiaka Wale Aderounmu, former Chairman of Ipokia Local Government and current Member of SUBEB; Hon. Josu Amos, former Chairman of Ipokia Local Government and Consultant to the Governor of Ogun State; Hon. Zinzu Taye Whepetoji, former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ipokia Local Government; Alhaji Ademola Olatunji, Consultant to the Governor of Ogun State; Hon. Matthew Akovoyon, former Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Idiroko/Ipokia State Constituency; and Chief Wale Adeogun (Paparazzi).

The commissioning was also attended by distinguished traditional rulers, including HRH Oba Maruf Ayinla Awode, the Ololo of Ijofin Kingdom; HRH Oba James Ajibola Ajani Igbowu, Ilufemiloye, Ateposun I, the Opo of Idosemo; and HRH Oba Isaac O. Akinlolu Ojo, the Onimede of Mede Ogosa, alongside other traditional rulers and Baales from communities across Ipokia Local Government.

The event also brought together representatives of various religious, political, community, market, education and transport groups, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ipokia Local Government Chapter; the League of Alfa, led by the Chief Imam of Ipokia, Sheikh Ibrahim Akanbi Oyedele; CAUCUS 7202, led by Mr. Martins Tito; Yayi Door-to-Door, led by the Local Government Coordinator, Elder Elijah Akionla; Iyaloja and Babaloja; the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ipokia Local Government Chapter; the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ipokia Local Government Chapter; the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW); Park Management; the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN); the Road Owners and Motor Operators (ROMO); and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).

The presence of the various stakeholders, community leaders, religious leaders, political groups, market associations and transport unions reflected the broad participation and collective support for the administration’s development agenda across Ipokia Local Government.

The commissioning of these projects demonstrates the administration’s determination to place development where it is most needed, strengthen critical infrastructure and improve the quality of life across Ipokia Local Government.

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, today, 28th August 2026, attended the press conference organised by the All Progressives Congress, Ipokia Local Government, led by the Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Wale Agbetokun, at the APC Local Government Secretariat in Ipokia.

In attendance were prominent party leaders, stakeholders and political functionaries, including the Honourable Member representing Idiroko/Ipokia State Constituency, Otunba (Hon.) Bisi Oyedele Citiside; former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kamoruden Oduntan; former Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Adeniyi Emmanuel Hosu; former Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Isiaka Wale Aderounmu; former Leader of the 7th Legislative Council, Hon. Tayo Oyekanmi; Mr Julius Oyedokun; Hon. The people of Ipokia Local Government reaffirm our unwavering support for the candidature of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI, FCA, CON.

We recognise and appreciate his remarkable contributions to the development of Ipokia Local Government, Ogun West and Ogun State. Through purposeful representation, he has delivered impactful interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment and economic development. These giant strides continue to transform our communities and speak clearly for themselves.

As a Local Government that has directly benefited from his commitment and developmental efforts, we stand firmly with performance, proven leadership and genuine service to the people.

We will not be distracted by the antics of politicians whose stock-in-trade we know, especially in every election cycle. Ipokia Local Government knows where it stands, and that position is solidly with YAYI.

IPOKIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT RECEIVES OBANIGBE COMMUNITY COUNCIL ON THANK-YOU VISIT

The leadership of Ipokia Local Government received a delegation from the Obanigbe Community Council, Obanigbe Community in Ipokia Ward I, on a thank-you visit following the construction of a block of two classrooms with furniture at Apostolic Church Primary School, Obanigbe.

The delegation was led by Chief Seda Minu Thomas Iroko, alongside the Youth President, Mr. Koja Taiwo Daniel; former Councillor representing Ipokia Ward III, Hon. Avose Daniel Dasi; community leader, Mrs. Wusu Olufunke Hannah; the Secretary of the Obanigbe Community Council, Mr. Degbo Afolabi Solomon; and other community representatives.

The delegation expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing the classroom project and provision of furniture as a significant relief to pupils and the school community. They also offered prayers for the continued success and wisdom of the Local Government leadership.

The community further appealed for the grading of roads within Obanigbe, as well as the provision of a solar-powered borehole and a Primary Health Care Centre to address other pressing needs in the community.

The Chairman, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, appreciated the community for returning to the Local Government to express its gratitude, noting that such a visit was the first of its kind since the commencement of the administration.

He attributed the projects being executed across the Local Government to the collective efforts of the executive and legislative arms, as well as the career officers, particularly the Department of Works and Housing.

He assured the delegation that the administration would continue to pursue equitable distribution of developmental projects across the Local Government, in line with its commitment to bringing governance closer to the people.

On the additional requests, the Chairman said they would be addressed gradually and according to available opportunities, assuring the community that its needs would receive due consideration while maintaining a fair distribution of developmental projects across all communities.

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, yesterday joined the family, friends, associates and well-wishers of the late Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Soyemi Coker, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and former Chairman of Odeda Local Government, at his funeral service.

The Chairman was present to honour the memory of the late former Speaker and pay his final respects to a distinguished son of Ogun State who contributed to public service and the development of his community and the state.

The funeral service brought together family members, political associates, government officials, friends and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the deceased.

Rt. Hon. Coker's death is a loss to his immediate family, Odeda Local Government, Ogun State and the many people who knew and worked with him during his years of public service.

The Chairman expressed his condolences to the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Blessing Coker, his children, his sister, Dr. Tomi Coker, Ogun State Commissioner for Health, and the entire Coker family.

May Almighty God forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.

IPOKIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT RECEIVES NEW NDLEA IDIROKO SPECIAL COMMANDER

The leadership of Ipokia Local Government received the newly promoted Commander of Narcotics (CN), Olasunmbo Olufemi Akande, NDLEA Idiroko Special Command, who paid a courtesy visit to the Local Government Secretariat on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.

CN Olasunmbo Olufemi Akande, who previously served as Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Idiroko Special Command, was accompanied by the Deputy Commander, Fagbohun Olawole; Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I, DCN Awodum; and the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

The visit focused on strengthening the existing relationship between the NDLEA and Ipokia Local Government, as well as discussing recent developments and ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, trafficking and addiction, particularly among young people.

CN Akande highlighted recent arrests and operations by the agency, reiterating that there is no hiding place for drug traffickers, couriers and others involved in the illicit drug trade. He encouraged parents and community members to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, appreciated the NDLEA for its continued collaboration with the Local Government. He presented CN Akande with a newly produced educational booklet designed to sensitise secondary school exit-class pupils on the dangers of drug abuse, criminality and cultism.

The Chairman disclosed that 1,000 copies of the booklet would be distributed to public secondary schools across the Local Government, including the Nigeria Customs Service Secondary School in Idiroko, from the first term.

CN Akande also presented a complimentary copy of the NDLEA's quarterly magazine to the Chairman. The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to strengthening public awareness, prevention and community-based efforts against drug abuse and related criminal activities.
