"BENEFITS OF BOKO HARAM TO THE PRESENT JONATHAN REGIME!" - by Ahmed Dangiwa - May 22, 2014

1. Only few people now talk of the 'missing' 20 billion dollars!

2. The outrage that greeted the unlawful removal of Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from office has taken the back seat!

3. The theft and misappropriation of public funds by the disgraced former Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, and the strident demands for her prosecution have been quietly forgotten!

4. The outrage over the use of billions upon billions of naira of public funds by Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke the Petroleum
Minister for her private jets has cooled off!

5. The outrage and persistent demands for the sack of the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro for fraudulently collecting close to a billion naira from job seekers for phantom jobs in the Immigration Service which caused the loss of about 26 lives has also cooled off!

6. The Nigerian public has forgotten that the National Assembly has approved the 2014 budget estimates since
March, but the President has still not signed it!

7. Everybody seems to have forgotten about the very poor implementation of previous budgets even though no monies have been returned to the public treasury as monies unspent!

8. Nobody talks about questioning the federal government on how she
spent 4 billion naira on hosting the World Economic Forum for Africa (WEFA), a programme that lasted for just 3 days!

9. Considering the daily loss of lives and properties, the National Association of Witches and Wizards that openly endorsed and worked
for this President in the 2011 elections must be enjoying themselves now! It is not in vain that God commanded in the Bible that "You should not allow a witch to live!", talk less of even allowing them to address the Press to campaign for politicians while it has no place in the Holy Qur'an, thus, outright rejected in Islam! Ha!

10. A large number of a certain type of people have been killed, and their survivors could hardly vote in the 2015 polls because they are either refugees or bombs have destroyed their homes and voter's card!

11. Nigerians have been disunited so that they could not protest against corruption and misrule, but thank God to the Chibok affair, Nigerians have become united through the campaign! Evil always boomerangs, isn't it?

12. And finally, to every other discerning person, the benefit of "Boko Haram" is to get yourself drawn closer to God Almighty, because you cannot tell where or when next they will "work" to divert public attention from critical national issues!

END "BOKO HARAM" NOW!

Bukola Saraki, Shettima, others escape death in near plan crash
-----------------------------

Former governor of Kwara State Senator Bukola Saraki and Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima and were among top Nigerian political leaders who escaped death on a British Airways flight 082 that was struck by thunder while approaching Heathrow international airport in London on Thursday.

Saturday Sun gathered that beside the duo of Saraki and Shettima who are both chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Ochei and other top Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chiefs were also on board the plane which hovered for over 40 minutes in the air before heading towards Birmingham airport to have an emergency landing.

"The weather in Heathrow was so bad that after hovering for about 40 minutes without being able to land and with the plane running short on fuel, the pilots took the best decision to head to Birmingham because we had already been hit by a lightning which caused a loud bang in the plane and damaged some electricals", one of the passengers aboard the flight revealed.

It was gathered that the flight, which left Abuja around 8am on Thursday, was billed to land at Heathrow airport at about 2.30pm. The source further disclosed that after the emergency landing in Birmingham, Governor Shettima, Saraki and others were kept in the plane for about two hours during which the aircraft was refuelled and an attempt was made at fixing "some engineering issues caused by the thunder."

When it was certain that the plane could not continue the journey back to London, Saturday Sun gathered that all the passengers were asked to disembark into three luxury buses at about 6pm which took them by road to London.

The journey by road from Birmingham to London which lasted for about four hours due to traffic jam was said to have left many of the passengers with pre-booked train trips to their destinations outside London stranded.

"Unfortunately, we were left unattended to at Birmingham because BA has no ground staff at Birmingham before we were eventually transported by road and sadly again, we got to London at about 10pm when many people could not go anywhere and still, we had to bear the brunt of looking for accommodation for ourselves", one of the passengers stated.

"The shock of the loud bang caused by the thunder and the several hours spent both in the air hovering and on the road left many of us weak and sick but our joy is that we survived what could have been a major disaster on the heels of the Boko Haram inflicted tragedies in Nigeria", the source added.

Kwara Government Bans Production, Sales of Charcoal
------------------------

The Kwara government on Thursday banned the production and marketing of charcoal in the state by members of Charcoal Production and Marketers Association.

The Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Alhaji Abubakar Mora, announced the ban on Thursday in Ilorin in an interview with NAN.

Mora warned members of the association to stop the production and marketing of charcoal throughout the state, saying they were polluting the environment.

He said that some members of the public had protested against the activities of members of the association, noting that they constituted health hazards.

He said that some traditional rulers had also drawn the attention of the ministry to the “alarming rate at which trees were being fell indiscriminately in their domain”.

The commissioner, therefore, warned that defaulters of the directive would face the wrath of the law.

He said that section one of the Charcoal Prohibition Laws of 2005, stipulates N50,000 fine or one year imprisonment if found guilty.

Mora warned that anyone caught selling charcoal would also be dealt with according to the law.

He directed the Forestry Department of the ministry to commence the arrest of violators, and stressed the need for adequate public awareness campaigns of state forestry laws for members of the association.
