TRCN ranks Kwara best in Northern Nigeria's Teachers' Qualifying Examination

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has ranked Kwara State first in Northern Nigeria in the recently concluded Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) for teachers, with a 93.8 per cent pass rate.

The recognition was conveyed in a congratulatory letter addressed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and signed by the Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, Dr (Mrs.) Ronke Soyombo.

According to the council, 678 candidates registered for the examination, 616 sat for it, while 578 passed, representing a 93.8 per cent success rate.

The council said the performance demonstrated the high calibre of educators being nurtured under the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration.

Reacting to the recognition, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, described the feat as an independent validation of the governor's sustained investment in education and teacher quality.

Olohungbebe attributed the achievement to the administration's standardised and merit-based teacher recruitment process, which ensures that only qualified and competent professionals are engaged to teach in public schools.

He also commended the successful teachers for their outstanding performance and commitment to improving the quality of teaching and learning across the state.

The commissioner said the government's sustained investment in continuous teacher development and education reforms had continued to strengthen classroom instruction and improve learning outcomes across the state.

He welcomed TRCN's readiness to partner with the state in addressing identified gaps in mathematics through targeted professional development programmes for teachers.

Olohungbebe reaffirmed the AbdulRazaq administration's commitment to sustaining policies that promote excellence and professionalism in line with global best practices.

NGF Congratulates Gov Adeleke on Re-election, Wishes Him Successful Second Term

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) congratulates His Excellency Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on his victory at the polls over the weekend.

The NGF acknowledges the strides and personality of the Governor, which readily paid off at the keenly contested election.

The Forum similarly commends the people of the state for the large turnouts during the election. We believe that the interest that the off-cycle ballot generated again confirms the resilience of the Nigerian democracy.

The Forum acknowledges the incredibly important role that opposition parties also play in shaping our democracy and we8 commend all the candidates for their efforts.

The NGF commends the security agencies for curtailing the initial trend of violence in the days leading to the election and creating a secure condition for the exercise to proceed without much incidents.

Finally, we acknowledge the statesmanlike role that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has played as he carefully balanced his position as the leader of the ruling party on the one hand and the father of the nation on the other.

We are confident that HE Ademola Adeleke will continue to build on the successes of his first term in the overall interest of the people of Osun State.

Omu-Aran community gives rousing welcome, hails Tinubu, Gov Abdulrazaq as new Army Battalion takes off in Kwara South

•We shall give you maximum support, says Olomu

First class traditional ruler, Chiefs, local government chairman and residents of Irepodun local government area Kwara State on Tuesday hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the establishment of a new Army battalion in Omu-Aran, saying the strategic intervention will boost security in Kwara South and the state at large.

Speaking at the welcome ceremony for the troops, Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, said the traditional rulers and people of the community were pleased with the establishment of the Army battalion in Omu-Aran under Commanding Officer Lt.-Col. Kehinde Avoseh.

"I want to assure you that our support, especially in terms of the welfare of the battalion, will be 100%, by the grace of God. You will enjoy your stay in Omu-Aran," the Olomu said.

“We are together by the grace of God. The Lord who has brought us together has done so in peace, and we pray that this development will continue to bring blessings, security and progress to our communities."

Oba Adeoti also expressed appreciation to the military authorities for ensuring that the location of the battalion was not changed.

The ceremony was attended by array of traditional rulers and community leaders, including the Alara of Aran Orin, Alaran of Arandun, Oloko of Oko Irese, among others.

The Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Abdulazeez Yakub, for his part, expressed appreciation to the Federal and Kwara State Governments for the establishment of the battalion.

Yakub assured the Nigerian Army of the council’s full cooperation and support in the discharge of its duties.

“On behalf of the people of Irepodun Local Government, I assure you of our full cooperation and support as you carry out your duties,” he said.

Also speaking, the President of Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA), Prince Niyi Adeyeye, said the deployment of an Army battalion to Omu-Aran would restore peace and security in the community and Kwara South.

Adeyeye commended security agencies, local vigilantes and community security volunteers for their courage, dedication and sacrifices in protecting the communities.

He also commended AbdulRazaq for his efforts and responsiveness to the concerns of the people.

“We are particularly grateful to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for responding decisively to the security concerns of the people of Kwara South and Omu-Aran in particular," the council chairman said.

“This intervention is a significant demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians and restoring peace, confidence and economic stability to the communities."

Also speaking, a community leader and retired General, Lasisi Abidoye, acknowledged the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRazaq towards the establishment of the new battalion and assured officers and men of the Army deployed to Omu-Aran of maximum support to carry out their duties.

Speaking earlier, the Commander of 22 Armoured Brigade, Brig Gen. Nicholas Rume, expressed appreciation to the people of Omu-Aran for the warm reception accorded the officers and soldiers.

He said the deployment was part of the Federal Government’s directive to expand the Nigerian Army’s operational capacity across the country.

"It's a very remarkable day for all of us, and we all know that as part of the President's Strategic Directive, the Nigerian Army is expanding. The Chief of Army Staff, on his own part, to achieve his strategic vision, has deployed his battalion here to take care of security incidences in the whole of Kwara South.

Rume thanked residents of Omu-Aran axis for their support to the Army.

"I sincerely appreciate everybody for coming out. This is really surprising. I was just expecting to come and start cleaning our rooms and entering. We didn't know that anything of this was being planned. So, thank you everybody for coming out," he said.

"To my soldiers and officers out there, you can see the kind of support you already have on coming here. So I don't think that the task would be difficult. When you have the people on your side, I think 75% of the job is done."
