Osun State House Of Assembly Honourable Members Paid A Courtesy Visit To Senator Lere Oyewumi, Ph.D.

The Osun State House of Assembly Members paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi at his country home, Ikire.

During the visit, the entourage expressed their confidence in Senator Oyewumi's ability to tackle the challenges of his new role. They highlighted his transformational leadership style, wealth of experience, trustworthiness, and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the general public at all times.

The Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Dr Lere Oyewumi, expressed his gratitude to the entourage for their visit, referring to them as brothers celebrating the success of a brother. Senator Oyewumi humbly acknowledged that his appointment belonged not only to himself but to the entire people of Osun State and the nation as a whole.

Senator Oyewumi advises the lawmakers to work together because the success of the state depends on their collaboration with NASS members and the state Governor, Sen. Ademola Adeleke. Today marks another year of unity, growth, and resilience as we celebrate the creation of our beloved Osun State (State of the Living Spring). Over the past three decades, we've seen remarkable progress, faced challenges head-on, and stood strong as a state.

Deputy Senate Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi rejoices with the Government and People of Osun State on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the State's creation, describing the journey so far as encouraging and reinforcing hope of a more prosperous future.

Senator Lere Oyewumi acknowledged the sacrifices and foresight that gave birth to the State, noting that “under Governor Adeleke's administration, the State is experiencing developmental strides.”

Senator Lere Oyewumi PhD Kick-Starts Solar Powered Street Lights-Up Project In Ikire

The Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Kamorudeen Lere Oyewumi has facilitated the provision and installation of solar-powered street lights-up projects in Ikire. The project is meant to light up dark spots around the communities, increase social and economic activities, and reduce criminal activities in various benefiting areas. The installation of the street lights projects commenced from Islamiyah Road, Oke Ada, and the Jolaiya area of Ikire.

Senator Lere Oyewumi urged community leaders and residents to take ownership of the lights and other government infrastructure to prevent vandalism. He said that the project and other numerous ones he had facilitated were meant to enhance the quality of lives of the people, and should not be destroyed.

Senator Lere Oyewumi however assured the people of the senatorial district of maximum cooperation and support that would assist the district to witness even development and thereby take the area into economic and security prosperity.

Akogun Lere Oyewumi Inspects Flood-Ravaged Areas Of Ikire, Apomu And Gbongan Communities

The Deputy Minority Leader Of The Senate, Akogun Lere Oyewumi today visited some of the affected areas in Ikire, Apomu, where he sympathized with those affected. He commiserated with the victims as well as prayed for the replenishment of their loss. While addressing the victims of the flood in the various areas visited, he disclosed that he had since moved a motion in the House Of Senate to come to the aid of the victims of the flood in Ikire, Apomu, and its environs.

Akogun Lere Oyewumi said natural disaster such as flood is unavoidable when there are heavy rains with blocked waterways and outdated culvert. He stressed that the forecast of NIMET and the effect of climate change precipitated the flood. He noted the determination to raise the issue once again to explore the possibility of collaborative efforts of governments at all levels to provide the necessary input to safeguard the lives and properties of the people and the environment.

Akogun Lere Oyewumi explained that the Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) would hopefully provide immediate succor and assistance to those affected. Akogun Lere Oyewumi however urged the residents to desist from the habit of building on waterways and indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage and canals. He equally appreciates Osun State Governor, Sen. Ademola Adeleke for his timely, purposeful response and quick intervention in the affected areas in the senatorial district.

It is with utmost humility and a great sense of responsibility that I express my deepest appreciation for this honor to be elected as the Deputy Minority Leader of the 10th Senate today 4th July 2023. The call to serve the nation in this capacity is one I am truly grateful for and will forever cherish.

I would like to thank the good people of Osun West Senatorial District who have reposed their trust in me by electing me to the Senate. It is your unwavering support that has brought me to this position today. As I take on this responsibility, I promise to uphold your trust and work tirelessly to fulfill the responsibilities that come with being your Representative at the Red Chamber, as well as the Deputy Minority Leader of the 10th Senate.

It is therefore important to acknowledge and appreciate the important role played by an achiever per excellence and philanthropist Dr. Deji Adeleke and the people's Governor Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for their support always. I will forever grateful

It is with a deep sense of honour, humility, and with gratitude to God that I'm Inaugurated as Member of the 10th House Of Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. May I also express my thanks to our Party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for providing us with the platform to come to the House, to my constituents, the great people of Osun West Senatorial District, I thank you for sending me to the National Assembly.

My sincere regards and appreciation to the successful business man and philanthropist, Dr. Deji Adeleke and Adeleke Political Dynasty for their utmost support. Of course, my wife, Yeye Akogun Omolara, my siblings and family have remained my greatest pillar of strength. To my campaign organization and all those, too many to mention, who played a role one way or the other for this day to come, my sincere appreciation.

My primary consideration that motivates me to seek the mandates of the good people of the district is the desire to effect a positive change in their lives and my aspiration is an affirmation of my faith in the variability and level playing posture of our advancing democracy. I make the vow that I'm going to be driven by the vision to uplift the senatorial district to a development pedestal that would make them independent, confident and self-reliance through effective and quality representation.

Irewole Local Government League of Imam and Alfa, Shiekh Muslim Oladiran Dimeji (The grand chief Imam of Ikire Kingdom) has paid a congratulatory visit to the Senator-elect Akogun Lere Oyewumi over his victory in the just concluded Senatorial election.

Shiekh Muslim Oladiran Dimeji described the election of Akogun Lere Oyewumi to represent Osun West Senatorial District in the red chamber as well deserved.

The grand chief Imam of Ikire Kingdom prayed to the Almighty Allah to guide and protect him in the discharge of his duties as a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
