WOMEN, VOICE AND VALUE: A CALL FOR PURPOSEFUL SUPPORT
In every society, women remain a powerful force, not only as nurturers of families, but as shapers of communities and defenders of collective progress.
Across Abak, Etim Ekpo, and Ika Federal Constituency, the role of women and young girls in our social and political development cannot be overstated. Their voices matter. Their choices influence direction. Their support defines outcomes.
However, it is important to reflect deeply on the purpose of that support.
True support is not built on proximity to power, nor on sentiment. It is built on principle, fairness, and the long-term interest of the people.
At critical moments such as this, history calls for balance — not division; for equity — not exclusion. The question before us is not merely who holds power, but how power is shared in a way that strengthens unity and preserves justice for all parts of our constituency.
The issue of Ika’s turn is not one of sentiment, but one of fairness and established balance. When equity is respected, peace is sustained. When it is overlooked, dissatisfaction quietly grows.
Women, by their nature, understand fairness. They understand sacrifice. They understand what it means to carry responsibility for the future. It is therefore essential that their support aligns not just with personalities, but with what is just and equitable for all.
Beyond this moment, there is a greater vision - one that places women and young girls at the centre of development.
It is my firm belief that empowerment must be deliberate. Women and young girls deserve access to structured grants, sustainable schemes, and real opportunities that will enable them to grow, become financially independent, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Support, therefore, must not only be given — it must be guided by purpose.
Because when women stand for what is right, communities are strengthened. When their voices align with fairness, society progresses. And when they are empowered with opportunity, the future becomes secure.
The path forward is clear — to stand not just with power, but with principle.
For in the end, it is not where power resides that defines us, but how we choose to uphold justice, equity, and the collective good of our people.
