Welcome Address from our President
Dearly beloved Alumni of the Ijebu Southern District Grammar School (ISDGS) and friends,
It gives me a great joy to welcome you to this Special Platform put together to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of our Alma mater, ISDGS, Ala, Ogun State, Nigeria scheduled for 7-13 February, 2022.
When someone attains sixty (60) years of age, it is usually a momentous occasion to celebrate while looking back to days of humble beginning, to acknowledge how far one has come and to look forward with hope. For our School, it is such a period also to celebrate, take stock and strategise for the future particularly that of our generation next. As you’re aware, this celebration is coming after the successful 50th Anniversary and it is a great blessing you’re a part of the 60th Anniversary celebration.
This 60th Anniversary is christened, the Anniversary of Achievements as we know that we’re achievers in our various fields of endeavours.
For this celebration therefore, we plan to meet some of the needs of the School which are many. A few of them are:
1.Perimeter Fencing to reinforce security, check trespassers, open grazing etc
2.Furnished Science Laboratories
3. Computer center for 21st Century digital literacy
4. Procurement of Physical reference textbooks and e-library
5. Boarding houses for male and female students to put the school in the high class category to which it belongs.
6. Acquisition of school bus/ buses to continue to attract and service day students from Ijebu Ode, Mobalufon, Moraika, Atiba, Egbe Iwata, Ikise, Igbile etc
A conservative estimate of sixty million naira (N60,000,000.00/USD$120,000) only to coincide with the 60th Anniversary is projected to be raised to meet some of these needs. We plan to seize the occasion of the 60th Anniversary celebration to set up a Hall of Fame of Great Achievers among the old students, those have served very well or donated up to one million naira (N1,000,000/USD$2,000) towards the School's programme during and after its 50th anniversary. Also, any of our members that can donate five hundred thousand naira (N500,000.00/USD1,000) towards the 60th Anniversary celebration shall also become eligible to become a listed member of the Hall of Fame. Please donate generously using the payment platforms provided by our Fund Raising Committee.
Your Old Students Association Committees have established a strong Financial structure to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of the funds we and our friends graciously donate toward the 60th Anniversary celebration and Project implementation.
I enjoin all alumni to be actively engaged on our social media platforms and spread the news around to reach of alumni brothers and sisters yet to be connected. This is a joy we have to celebrate TOGETHER.
I congratulate all members on this auspicious occasion and wish us many more of the Celebrations. So, I say, Arise and Shine for your light has come and welcome to our 60th Anniversary of Achievements.
