While welcoming the pupils, students, teaching and non-teaching staff back to school, I urge all schools and school owners to ensure strict compliance with safety measures and safety protocols “for the delivery of quality and sustainable education in Ifako-Ijaiye.”

"HOSANNA i-PRAISE EDITION 3.0 AND FOOD PALLIATIVES DISTRIBUTION"

This event represents a deliberate fusion of spiritual empowerment and social intervention, designed to provide both hope and tangible relief to residents. The initiative underscores the administration's commitment to holistic community welfare by addressing spiritual and physical needs simultaneously.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENT:

1. Inspirational Worship Session
The program will feature ministrations from renowned gospel ministers including Kalejaiye Olorunseunfunmi Ibikunle, Olamide Gospel, Elijah Daniel, Esther Olorunyomi, BBO, and Tella Irawonla. Residents can expect an atmosphere of transformative worship and communal fellowship.

2. Free Food Palliatives for 1,000 Vulnerable Households
In a decisive step to cushion the economic effects, the event will feature distribution of free raw foodstuffs to 1,000 verified needy and vulnerable individuals within Ifako-Ijaiye.
This intervention reaffirms the administration’s position that effective governance must translate into direct, actionable support for citizens.

In compliance with the Lagos State Government’s directive reintroducing the statewide monthly environmental sanitation exercise, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, today led a comprehensive monitoring operation across the council area.

The exercise, which observed the mandatory restriction of movement between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., saw the Executive Chairman conduct an on-the-ground assessment of key locations within the Local Government to ensure full compliance and facilitate environmental restoration.

Prince Hamzat was accompanied by a high-level delegation of officials, including:
- The Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Environment, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele, alongside other Supervisors and Special Advisers;
- The Council Manager, Mr. Nurudeen Olusola Tobun;
- The Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Kolawole Ayokunle Fasusi (Bachel);
- Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Abolaji Mustapha Taiwo;
- Heads of Departments (HODs) and Units; and
- Councillors of the 7th Legislative Arm, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Adebo Samuel Kayode.

The joint participation of the Executive and Legislative arms underscores this administration’s unified commitment to public health, environmental sustainability, and urban renewal.

A major highlight of the exercise was the official commissioning of a Plastic Collection Point at Araromi Street, Iju-Ogundimu. The project, executed by the Inclusive Youth and Community Development Initiative (IYACODI) in partnership with the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ifako-Ijaiye Chapter, marks a strategic transition toward sustainable waste management.
The facility is designed to reduce drainage blockages caused by plastic waste and to promote a “waste-to-wealth” culture among youths in the community.

The monitoring team conducted rigorous inspections and supervised waste evacuation and desilting of drainages at several identified flashpoints, including College Road to Oyemekun Road; Iju-Ishaga Market; and Araromi Street, Iju.

Speaking at the conclusion of the exercise, the Executive Chairman, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance demonstrated by residents and traders. He emphasized that the reinstatement of the monthly sanitation exercise is essential to mitigating flooding and preventing disease outbreaks.

“I commend the residents of Ifako-Ijaiye for observing the restriction of movement and actively cleaning their surroundings during the designated hours. This administration remains resolute in its commitment to a healthier, greener, and more sustainable Ifako-Ijaiye. Today, we are not merely clearing waste; we are institutionalizing a culture of environmental discipline for future generations,” the Chairman stated.

Prince Hamzat further assured residents that the Local Government will continue to provide necessary support and infrastructure to ensure that environmental standards are maintained beyond the sanitation period.

Duration of Restriction: Movement of persons and vehicles shall be restricted during the stated hours, except for those on essential duties.

During this period, all residents and business operators are required to:
1. Clean their immediate surroundings, including residential and commercial premises.
2. Desilt and clear all drainages, gutters, and waterways to prevent flooding.
3. Ensure proper bagging and disposal of waste at designated collection points.
4. Market leaders, CDAs, and CDC executives are enjoined to mobilize members for full compliance.

𝗘𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧:
Officials of the Environmental Sanitation Corps and other relevant agencies will monitor compliance.
Defaulters shall be sanctioned in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law.

The Local Government, under the Chairmanship of Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH) reiterates its commitment to promoting a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.

The Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat - UAH, has extended formal congratulations to two distinguished indigenes of the Council following their recent appointments to strategic administrative positions within Lagos State:
Hon. Fasusi Kolawole Ayokunle (Mr. Bachel), elected as Deputy Chairman, Scribe 57, and Comrade Samson Kayode Idowu, appointed as Education Secretary, Ifako-Ijaiye LGEA.

Prince Hamzat expressed profound pride at the election of the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Fasusi Kolawole Ayokunle, popularly known as Mr. Bachel, as Deputy Chairman of Scribe 57.

Scribe 57 serves as the coordinating body for all Secretaries to the Local Government across the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos State. The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday, 23 April 2026, at the Bariga Local Council Secretariat, where Hon. Fasusi joined the executive council led by Hon. Kunle Olambiwonnu of Ijede LCDA.

The Chairman stated: "Hon. Fasusi’s emergence is a clear testament to his administrative competence, steadfast commitment, and the Ifako-Ijaiye tradition of excellence. We are confident that he will deploy his wealth of experience to strengthen unity and advance the collective progress of Scribes across Lagos State."

In the same vein, the Executive Chairman congratulated Comrade Samson Kayode Idowu on his appointment by the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) as Education Secretary, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Education Authority.

Prince Hamzat described the appointment as a significant development for the local education sector, noting that Mr. Idowu’s proven record of public service makes him well-suited for the role.

"I congratulate Mr. Idowu on this meritorious appointment. Education remains a fundamental pillar of our 'Greater Ifako-Ijaiye' agenda. I look forward to close collaboration with him to ensure continued growth and improved outcomes for our schools and pupils under his supervision," the Chairman added.

The Executive Chairman wishes both appointees a successful and impactful tenure as they assume these higher responsibilities in service to the people.

In a steadfast commitment to grassroots economic revitalization, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat - UAH, has successfully organized the fourth phase of the ₦𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗔𝗛 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱

Today’s exercise saw the disbursement of another tranch of ₦10 million to petty traders, who received ₦100,000 each, bringing the cumulative total disbursed to ₦40 million since the initiative’s inception in December 2025.
Following the initial ₦10 million kickoff and the subsequent ₦20 million combined second and third phases, this fourth installment reinforces the administration's mission to provide a sustainable financial lifeline for small-scale entrepreneurs.

This strategic intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, aimed at fostering business resilience and uplifting livelihoods from the ground up.

Prince Hamzat reaffirmed that this program is a continuous, long-term commitment to inclusive growth, assuring residents that further disbursement cycles are carefully planned.

The 4th Phase disbursement was seamlessly coordinated by a high-level team, including the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abolaji Mustapha Taiwo; Special Adviser on SDGs, Mr. Mustapha Adebayo Adam; Supervisory Councillor for WAPA, Alhaja Iyabosola Oluwakorede Ettu (Oreke); H.O.D. WAPA, Alhaja Habeebat Bamimosu; ; and Hon. Safiat Ajoke Aregbesola, Councillor Ward C1, who represented the Legislative Arm.

In line with the Lagos State Government’s official reintroduction of the statewide Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat - UAH, hereby urges all residents, property owners, and stakeholders within the Local Government Area to fully embrace this renewed culture of environmental cleanliness for the collective health and safety of our community.

The exercise is scheduled to commence on 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟲:𝟯𝟬 𝗮.𝗺. 𝘁𝗼 𝟴:𝟯𝟬 𝗮.𝗺.

To ensure the effective conduct of this exercise and promote a healthier Ifako-Ijaiye, residents are hereby notified of the following directives:

✅️𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
Vehicular and pedestrian movement shall be restricted between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. to facilitate effective cleaning and waste evacuation operations.

✅️𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:
All residents are required to clean their immediate surroundings, including residential premises, drains, gutters, and frontages.

✅️𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹:
All refuse generated must be properly bagged and placed at designated collection points for evacuation by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and licensed PSP operators.

✅️𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴:
Residents are expected to cooperate fully with Environmental Health Officers and authorized enforcement teams deployed to monitor compliance across the Local Government Area.

Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat wishes to emphasize that this exercise is not merely a statutory obligation but a critical public health intervention aimed at preventing environmental hazards and curbing the spread of communicable diseases.
