“I Will Continue Where My Predecessor Stopped” – New Oyo Head of Servic
The newly appointed Head of Service of Oyo State, Dr. (Mrs.) Adenike Fasina, mni, has pledged to sustain and build on the reforms and achievements of her predecessor, describing civil service reform as a continuous process aimed at improving efficiency, productivity and service delivery.

Speaking while officially assuming office as the 32nd Head of Service in Oyo State, Dr. Fasina expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for the confidence reposed in her and assured civil and public servants that her administration would be guided by the fear of God, fairness and strict adherence to public service rules and regulations.

She charged workers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to remain committed to the core values of the civil service, emphasizing accountability, transparency, integrity and efficiency. According to her, civil servants must continue to serve as worthy role models and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
Dr. Fasina also called for dedication and punctuality in the workplace, noting that every officer has a role to play in moving Oyo State forward through quality service delivery.

The new Head of Service further offered prayers for the safe return of the teachers and schoolchildren abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, expressing confidence that they would regain their freedom safely.

Her assumption of office marks a new chapter for the Oyo State Civil Service, with a commitment to sustaining reforms, strengthening institutions and enhancing service delivery for the benefit of all residents.

Oyo Govt Demolishes Building Used in Kidnap of Adelabu’s Sister and Nephews

The Oyo State Government has demolished a three-bedroom bungalow in Lako Community, Ayegun-Anaye Road, Ibadan, used in the kidnapping of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.

The demolition was carried out by officials of the Ministry of Works and Transport alongside security operatives as part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and criminal activities in the state.

Commissioner for Works and Transport, Arch. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, said the action serves as a strong warning to property owners and landlords to be vigilant and avoid renting out properties to criminal elements.

He also confirmed that the land has been revoked by the state government in line with its commitment to public safety.

Residents and landlords’ associations have been urged to report suspicious activities and monitor tenants closely to help strengthen community security.

Oyo Alerts Residents to Flash Flood Risks, Urges Safety Precautions

The Oyo State Government has alerted residents to the increased risk of flash flooding across the state following forecasts of heavy rainfall and intense thunderstorms this June.

Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola Aderinto, urged residents to take precautionary measures by keeping drains, gutters and waterways around their homes free of refuse, plastic waste and other materials that could obstruct the free flow of water.

He also warned against illegal dredging and construction activities that block natural waterways, stressing that violators will face sanctions in accordance with environmental laws.

Residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas have been advised to safeguard their lives and property, while motorists and pedestrians should avoid flooded roads, especially during heavy rainfall.

The government has intensified drainage clearing operations and activated emergency response measures to mitigate the impact of possible flooding. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, safety-conscious and cooperate with ongoing environmental protection efforts.

We'll Rescue Your Sister, Nephews — Makinde Assures Adelabu

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has assured the immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, that the state government is doing everything possible to secure the safe return of his kidnapped sister and her two sons.

The governor gave the assurance during a visit to Adelabu and his family, where he expressed sympathy over the unfortunate incident and provided updates on ongoing efforts by security agencies and the government.

Oyo Honours Climate Partners, Reaffirms Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

The Oyo State Government has recognised and honoured individuals, organisations and development partners for their outstanding contributions to climate action, environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation across the state.

The recognition formed part of activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day celebration and was aimed at appreciating stakeholders whose efforts have strengthened Oyo State’s journey towards a cleaner, greener and more climate-resilient future.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola Aderinto, reiterated the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration to promoting environmental sustainability through strategic policies, climate-smart initiatives and strong partnerships.

As part of the celebration, the state officially flagged off the planting of one million trees across Oyo State to combat climate change, improve biodiversity and tackle land degradation. The government also commissioned a new public toilet facility in Ojoo, Ibadan, to support improved sanitation and reduce open defecation.

In addition, 250 uniforms were distributed to environmental sanitation personnel to strengthen cleanliness and environmental management efforts across the state.

The Oyo State Government commended all award recipients and stakeholders for their dedication to environmental protection and called on residents to adopt responsible environmental practices that will help secure a healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.

Insecurity: Oyo Restricts Night Operations of Commercial Motorcycles, Strengthens Vehicle Registration Enforcement

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has signed Executive Order 002 of 2026 on the Regulation and Enforcement of Vehicle Registration and Traffic Management in Oyo State as part of efforts to strengthen security and protect lives and property.

The new Executive Order restricts the operation of commercial motorcycles (Okada) across the state between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. daily. It also strengthens the enforcement of vehicle registration and traffic regulations to make it easier for security agencies to identify and track vehicles used for criminal activities.

Governor Makinde said the measure became necessary following security concerns, including the recent abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area. He assured residents that efforts to secure the safe return of the abductees remain ongoing and that the government is working closely with security agencies around the clock.

The governor urged residents not to mistake government silence for inaction, stressing that the abducted teachers and pupils have not been forgotten and remain a top priority.

He also called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities through the state's emergency line, 615, noting that security remains a collective responsibility.

Makinde Receives Nigerian Air Force Delegation, Assures Residents on Oriire Rescue Efforts

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has reassured residents that every available resource is being deployed to secure the safe return of the teachers and pupils abducted in Yawota and Ahoro-Esinele communities of Oriire Local Government Area.

Speaking while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Air Force led by the Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar A. Suleh, the governor appreciated the support of the Nigerian Air Force in the ongoing rescue operation.

Governor Makinde disclosed that although the two Diamond-42 Surveillance Aircraft procured by the Oyo State Government are still being assembled, the Nigerian Air Force provided a replacement surveillance aircraft, which has been instrumental in gathering real-time intelligence to support rescue efforts.

He called for patience and understanding from residents, noting that security agencies are working tirelessly under challenging conditions to ensure the abducted teachers and pupils are returned safely.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across Oyo State through strategic investments, collaboration with security agencies, and the deployment of modern surveillance technology.

Governor Makinde thanked the Chief of Air Staff and officers of the Nigerian Air Force for their unwavering support and partnership in safeguarding lives and property across the state.

Oyo Govt Charges Civil Servants to Upskill Beyond Basic Training

The Oyo State Government has urged civil servants to continuously acquire new skills and knowledge beyond routine training in order to remain relevant, productive and competitive in today's evolving workplace.

Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for 85 officers drawn from 25 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Professor Abdulwaheed Adelabu, encouraged workers to embrace lifelong learning and develop additional competencies that can improve their efficiency and career growth.

He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde's administration to staff development and workers' welfare, noting that Oyo State continues to invest in training programmes, economic support initiatives and policies aimed at improving the wellbeing of its workforce.

The workshop, organised through the Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, is part of the government's ongoing efforts to build a more skilled, innovative and future-ready civil service.
